Hmm, while I respect that they are somewhat unique, some of the titles proposed have pretty negative connotations and I am not sure why anyone would want such a title.

Or, maybe instead of names you could use a little graphic like little ribbons or medals with the top ranks having more ribbons or medals then the lower ranks?

Sorry if you found negative denotations for the terms Oligarch and Ringleader. I used the American Heritage Dictionary (2000) and it said Oligarch meant "A member of a small governing faction." I chose this because it stresses that the person is among few others in the rank, and they are above some others because they are part of a governing faction. I found "Ringleader" in the same dictionary to mean "A person who leads others, especially in informal activities." Ringleader in this sense seems to be of less importance than an Oligarch but more so than the Peasant. Of course the odds of my particular ranking choices being picked are probably slim, and if there are any negative connotations associated with anyone's suggestions they probably won't be picked. I just thought it'd be neat to have the ranks fill the acronym MMORPG. I like the medals and ribbons idea, since it seems every MMORPG has some sort of ranking system within it. While medals and ribbons may seem to be more associated with military groups, if the graphics were ambiguous enough I think it could work. But that begs the question, will there be a competition for who can make the best medals and ribbons graphics (cause I sure as hell would lose that lol).

Mostly I am just thinking of some more ideas to try to help come up with something that would apply universally and thats why the whole ribbon/medal type thing came to mind. The symbols could be completely abstract or there could possibly two sets with one being fantasy in design (maybe different numbers of crossed swords, flags, or crowns or something), and a sci-fi version with stars or crossed light sabers or something.
That might be a bit much since someone has to come up with the little art pictures though, so maybe just a number of little ribbons or stars would be easiest if this idea was popular. I am sure there is some easy little clip art out on the web that wouldnt require Admin to be a master artist.

I do think we should have stars too. Because of this we will need to limit the ranks to 5 levels (only enough room for 5 stars). I think that stars are universal enough for all genres...ya?
At this point I think I am just going to implement the system using the stars and a basic rank system. Then when we have a comfortable amount of time to decide on candidates and vote we can do that and replace the names with the basic ones (this will only take minutes).

Murt...you are LUCKY. You were ONE star before I changed my mind on the cutoff date for counting deleted posts. If your posts get deleted like they have in the past 30 days you will be back at one star again...you need to be very careful about what you post and make sure you don't change the subject of peoples topics or violate the rules...
