Inroads basically just takes your information and Finds trying to line you up with a good internship in the selected area.
So all of you guys were bashing a company that probably DOES have interns of all ethnicities... You bashed them for having connections with a company that specifically finds Minority interns....

I will restate... Affirmative Action Came about Because mainly of huge corporations with hundreds of employees that didn't have any minorities at all within thier ranks.... The part which is illegal is that companies started hiring minorities just to fill a quota Which took whites out of there jobs for many times less qualified people... BUT!! If You are telling me that none of the minorities that applied were as qualified as the white people that work there... well then I will appologize publicly for Minorities because they are stupid... and unqualified..
Gah - I mis spoke - I apologize, the original affirmative action may have been necessary - HOWEVER - if the wonderful US Federal Government and State Governments followed the EEO Regs there would have been no need for it. A public outcry ensued and they had to do something - thus Affirmative Action was basically born. The initial use of Affirmative Action I can agree with - but what it is being used for now - I disagree with.
In THIS Case If you go back to the original post It began because of a company offering internships opportunities to minorities But Along with the "Minorities condition" there were other conditions such as a minimum GPA and what ever.... So It was STIll Merit Based... And in regards to companies that hire Aff Action style.... Number they usually aren't hiring less qualified people unless they are trying to fill a quota... THAT Is Totally wrong..... But if a company hired a whole buncha people... and then wanted to do something good and Created a new division or subdivisions... and hired talented minorities... Well then they are doing a great community service....
Unfortunately - around October, November and December each year major corporations do hiring sprees - that I have noticed. I always check the employers out before applying to see why - and they are generally Aff Act employers. again unfortunately at that time they are trying to = their quota for the year. And No one will call these companies on this due to the fact that they donate LARGE sums of money to political parties each year. And if a corporation - one that actually cares about people HA good luck finding that one - did do something like you stated as above - got people trained for new jobs; did a service for the community - I would be behind it as well - but to hide behind Aff Action like employers do is ridiculous.
I dont believe at all that an underqualified person should be given a position over a more qualified person.... That is totally wrong.... And If two people have the same qualifications I dont think that one should automatically get it over the other person.... But that goes both ways... Because right now.... If there is a Mexican man and a Caucasin man of equal merit... i think it is more probable that the Caucasin man will get the job... And that May or may not be because of racism....
Your last paragraph is correct - I agree with it for the most part - and I have NO PROBLEMS with ever losing a position to a more qualified person - or even a person who has the exact same qualifications as I do - they may have just interviewed better - and that can happen, I just hate the back door policy these companies use just to say they are an Aff Action Employer.

Your above has a slight oxymoron - and I will explain why. In your above statement you state that

This is the same as if I were to say "White people aren't bad hockey players - we're among the best." I know that is a bad analogy but you get the point - basically - in order to put your race up higher then others you basically put down the other races around you - unfortunately - that is the core of racism.
And I am not saying you are a racist - I am merely stating an obvious fact - Racism is defined as The belief that one 'racial group' is inferior to another and the practices of the dominant group to maintain the inferior position of the dominated group. Affirmitive Action is most definately unconstitutional. Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race,color,sex,religion or national origin. Affirmitive action means that even though a person of one race is more qualified for a job companies are encouraged through tax breaks to accept a less qualified applicant who is either female, a minority or for the biggest tax break a female minority with a few kids coming off welfare. You're far more likely to see larger companies that pay alot of taxes practicing affirmitive action. Sadly if affirmitive action were to go before todays supreme court it would probably be upheld because the supreme court justices are more political than judicial these days.
Now that being said the reason we allow affirmitive action is because the majority of americans understand and accept that minorities and women were being unfairly treated in the workplace by either not receiving the job or not getting promotions when warranted. Now on a side note.. a funny story..
I recently moved to Kansas City for a job. I tried to go up to a bank and open a checking account. The teller asks me for proof of residence so i hand her my drivers license. She says " this is for missouri do you have something that says you live at this address in KC?" I said "nope why would i need that?" she replies " The patriot act requires you to prove you live at the address you open your account with." i look at her funny and politely say " Thats fucking retarded you can tell i live in America whether i have a bank account in Missouri or Kansas whats the damn difference?" so we go on for a few discussing the stupidity of the KGB err Patriot Act. I then tell her what i do for a living.. I do data processing.. FOR BANKS! Thats right the Patriot Act says i gotta prove where i live to have a bank account but says nothing about proving where i live to have access to the banks money and all its information.

Kind of funny, most of our mmorpgs have fantasy races. Some races are darker skinned, a few games have other colors in them. I do find it interesting most game boxes and advertising buttons depict caucasian, scantily clad females...

As Arnold would say "Sensitivity is for wimps and Girlymen!" sorry had to say it - we generally take care of others then we take care of our own country - it is unfortunate but it is the way it is - the way the International Politics Run around the world - it is almost expected for the US to come to the aid of any foreign country who requests it. 1) A religous sect hardly qualifies for a nation abolishing slavery. I did not say America whose people was the first country that thought slavery was a bad idea.
The NorthWest Ordinance of 1787, an act by the US Congress, did ban slavery in these Ohio territories. Now, before you flame me, we know the rest of the country didn't follow suit until the 13th amendment.
Any other countries pass a ban on slavery at this point in time? Maybe not the first country to abolish slavery entirely, but gots to give us some credit.
Do you see a female in the Saudi leadership? China have a diverse leadership from Hispanic, African, European descent in the ranks? Russia send over an African descended ambassador lately? While we only have an African American Secretary of State, a Hispanic Attorney General, Asian American Secretary of Labor, numerous African American Congressmen.. We aint doin badly..
I aint saying we are perfect, but we do have a lot to be proud of.

The reason I think you are helping to perpetuate racism is because you are classifying and oversimplifying people. Why should we take extra steps to have a greater balance of people with different skin colors in the workplace? Why should they even be classified together? I'm saying minorities don't exist, because it's dumb to see one person and think just because of a few traits they belong in one group to be excluded from another when we are all the same species. There is no reason.
The reason I referred to you as a "black" person is because of your second or third post where you said "and no this does not mean oh because i'm black the white man won't give me a job" It was kind of ambiguous as to if you actually meant you. I would, of course, rather not refer to you as black, and ignore all your complexities, just like I would prefer not to be labeled white with all the differences I have from every other "white" person ignored. One for instance would be the fact that at some point in history my ancestors were "black", which basically makes me part black right? which basically voids a lot of your points. Anyway I'm going to leave this one alone now. But by the way earlier you said blacks getting less jobs was not a result of discrimination from whites and later on you said it was probably due largely to racism so phooey on you (hehehe), but anyway peace.

1) A religous sect hardly qualifies for a nation abolishing slavery. I did not say America whose people was the first country that thought slavery was a bad idea.
The NorthWest Ordinance of 1787, an act by the US Congress, did ban slavery in these Ohio territories. Now, before you flame me, we know the rest of the country didn't follow suit until the 13th amendment.
Any other countries pass a ban on slavery at this point in time? Maybe not the first country to abolish slavery entirely, but gots to give us some credit.
Do you see a female in the Saudi leadership? China have a diverse leadership from Hispanic, African, European descent in the ranks? Russia send over an African descended ambassador lately? While we only have an African American Secretary of State, a Hispanic Attorney General, Asian American Secretary of Labor, numerous African American Congressmen.. We aint doin badly..
I aint saying we are perfect, but we do have a lot to be proud of.
