well from what i understand and know from the Forums atm, is that the RAID engine kill´s/stall´s the Server at some point after the start of the Event and that wouldn´t be funny ;)...

but what i understood, it´s not caused by a bug, but that the RAID AI puts too much load on the Machine and down it goes :P

forgot to mention from Etruscus's post though that I just realized I disagree with :P

the Boss Mobs are actually very fun to go after, especially the Giant Crab in Tryker land ;)

I remember having a blast with a full team trying to figure out how to kill it, which involves a lot of trying to pull the minions, crowd control, running around in chaos, jumping into water, and dying alot. But when we succeeded, it was great. ::::15::

Any person who does not want to have their opinion tainted probably won't be reading message boards.
That said, I'm going to share my experiences; I've since lost my log-in privlidges at SoR forums, though I'm unsure if I was actually banned or this happens when your accounts goes inactive.

-The community. Granted, some of the people posting here in the rabidness might look bad to an outsider, but keep in mind this is from honest to goodness love of the game. Sometimes this love, like all loves, can blind them. I've played a lot of games and been a lot of places and there is simply no other place where players will welcome you in, call you family and do everything in their power to help you as much as possible throughout your days in Atys. This item, simply put, is the games best attribute.
    - Ryzom is a great game for people just looking to break into the MMORPG market for the first time.

Wanted to respond to a few things in a good post here. One is to point out that Nevrax and its rabid fanboi base have a hard time allowing anything negative to be said at all. As evidenced by their forum banning behavior, which has been the worst whenever the company drives people away in mass and actually needs to hear what they're doing wrong to people.

Ignoring what your main customer base wants more than anything has lead to this game's downward spiral. There has also been a community effort at time to flood places like mmorpg.com and promote the game, to make it sound better than you might otherwise hear by giving the game perfect 10s on the review poll rather than rating it honestly.

I also wanted to select two points I disagree with. First I don't think Ryzom is good for MMO newbies. I would recommend something like WoW with a simple to learn interface. If you're new to MMOs get to 60 in WoW and then leave to find something with a better community.

2nd from my experience there are several games with good communities, and Ryzom is not one of them. In Ryzom I found a rapidly dying community of fanbois and gankers when I came back during Episode 2. Case in point being that I got kicked from a prominent guild when I said publicly I didn't like ganking, and then each subsequent guild I joined was dying in membership.

I have however found good friendly and roleplay communities this year in DaoC, EVE, and Horizons. The horizons community is where I'm currently at and the game is focused on community rather than introducing PvP or a mod-pack expansion. To each their own.

hmm, you werent kicked from our guild. although i believe we had a talk about you not fitting in. the reason was your constant negative attitude, we actually changed out guild welcomer doc's because of you - highlighting the fact we play to have fun and enjoy the game not bitch and moan.

and ganking? not a single one of us has ever ganked anyone, can refer you to our guild charter - it's public and you assured us you read it - strangely we take it seriously. try to force your jaded views on people if you must but dont lie, its not clever.

i can post the guild council logs from the time if you really want to argue the point. sadly your attitude still sucks, but this is a public forum so nothing much i can do about it this time ;)

I love this game and the (most of the) comunity BUT, I am unsure just how long the game will last. Some people from the game will tell you its fine,or its getting better. But tbh the comunity is suffering since the implament of PvP ... there are still plenty of great people in the game, but the rate of flaming and trolling on the forums has increased and alot of older players have left.

With the new "Cats" as they are called for short... Shorten the time it takes to lvl by half, yeah that doesn't sound bad,but the fact is that when there is no Out post or PvP battles ...or any bosses still up to kill the only thing to do is lvl or RP.So once you max out there is not really much to do.

Many say the game will be fine ... But as I have been playing since before PvP was implamented I see the side effects and the amount of people that have and are still leaving over it. So I fear the day when spires is released because it will be a MUCH larger scale PvP implament... So if in turn a MUCH larger amount of players leave then .... game over .... But I can only hope that I am wrong and everything turns out good. It all depends on Navrax really...

I would still tell people to try this game if they asked me about it ... if you get in with the right guild it can be fun for quite some time ... but its not all silver lining ...

I am a current player of "The saga of Ryzom" and will keep playing it for some time to come. It is a good game with an overall great comunity...

I posted on the Nevrax forums one night about how I hated all the ganking with EP2, next day I logged in and I was kicked from the guild. When asking why I was told that my opinions I posted on the forums didn't match with the guild. Nobody talked to me about it and feel free to post whatever you discussed behind my back, though I don't know how much it will interest prospective Ryzom playres to read.

Luckily I was already looking for a new guild that was less enthusiastic about ganking foragers (which is what I was primarily) and moved right on. Unfortunately those guilds seemed to dissolve with episode 2 and only the PvP ones were left. But around then I got caught in the mass forum ban by Nevrax of anyone who didn't like the ganking content and decided that a game taking a different development direction would be best because Nevrax has done a 180 degree turn on what they were going to develop Ryzom to be.

Have fun, ganking non-combat classes that can't fight back because a developer encourages it is just not for me.

Not true Atys Paladins are not a PvP guild (we do goto some Out post battles) and we are one of the largest Kami faction guilds atm.

There is only one guild saying they are 100% pvp, that is KoO. That's one guild out of a community of perhaps 15 active  guilds.

Twilight Whispers have never come across as anything other then a decent bunch.

The Saga of Ryzom is not like any other MMO out there. That's why it's hard for us that have been with it so long, to try and explain, and why it's so hard for those that have played games like WoW to understand.

Primarily SoR is about community. Everything revolves around what the community is doing or want they want to do. The Story line changes according to the communities preference. Nuetrality is the best example.

There is a sense of an extended family in the community, every knows everyone. Which is awesome in one respect, but can become a pain when they become the jury, judge and execussioner when they feel a player has done something they don't like. PvP is the best case for this. The SoR community as a whole DOES NOT LIKE PvP. It's a fact and nothing will change this. Nevertheless there are a few of us that bring the fights to each others cities, and even on occasion the community doesn't have a moan about it.

The community is a mature one. You won't find people cussing each other out or anything like that.

Some of you like to compare this game to others you've played. Which is fair enough, you have to compare it to something. In my opinion, it is unique.
Atys is like nothing i had experienced before i started playing. Everyday for over the past 2 years the world still amazes me. It is so rich in detail, and there is so much to see and do.
This game is not about questing or leveling. It's about experiencing things and doing things with a bunch of friends. It's about existing on Atys and bonding with your guildies and friends.

The role out of new content has  been slow since SoR went live. The Outpost's expansion has been the only major update in 2 years. The next major update "Ring 2" will be patched within this quarter.
So this isn't a game if you like "stuff".

I'm partially glad that some people don't "get" Ryzom. Stick with your WoW's and such. It means Ryzom doesn't turn into a big enterprise where the individual player isn't taken into consideration.

The 7 day trial is perhaps not long enough for you to really get into the game, and understand what it's about. It's a game that you need to give time, and be with for the long hoal.

Ryzom, we dare to be different.
    Do you dare to adapt?

Hmmm, and I end up posting again... :)

Well, I've read quite a few of the posts now, and I've found one thing out while reading, Ryzom is what you make of it. And you can try and argu with me but I wont change my mind on that anytime soon, becos I've been at the point where things seem like endles digging or grinding, and I've seen a guild slowly go inactive, but I wasn't doing anything much to change the fact.

PvP and Faction war is also what you make of it, I have one character with wich I egerly fought for the Kamis, another where I fought for Karavan, but my main character remains neutral. I hear people complaining that oh but it takes so much time to run everywhere if you're neutral, sure it does, but that has become part of the challenge to me. And sure, there isn't really much content as such, but I don't need any more then that, if i want a bit of content I go do some rites or something, but hey, this is just my oppinion.

So if you haven't tried the game yet and you don't need a staked out path to go by, Ryzom is a good game for you, if not you can still try it and you might even find something you like :) To those of you that have tried the game and didn't like it, I'm sorry to hear that, but that's life, good thing not everybody likes it, or the Ryzom servers would propably be full of people, for example like some of those you find in WoW (no offence to you nice people in there ;) )

And to who ever said that WoW had a simple interface; huh? I guess i gotta try it out again today, cos when i tried it yesterday i didn't get shit :P not that that's gonna stop me ofc :)

*Brain down for upgrade, don't try to understand my logic, I don't...*
