Are there people IRL who love the police? Imagine how people think in a game about them
im so far not impressed with this game either. reloading takes waaay too long. comming back from death in the clone thingy takes wayy too long. healing even with the most expensive option takes waaay too long. ive not seen a mission in 3 days. the game doesnt look good, but its beta. the learning curve on the game is waaay too steep at the beginning. part of the problem is i never see but one or two people. mostly because i cant get past my own doors, havent figured the hacking out, though i shouldnt have to hack my own door. the one time i left my base, i got shot pretty fast. its not the worst game ever, but for most of the features, they have been done before, and mostly better. this is not a step up from neocron, a game id go back to if they ever got people to play.
if they could speed some things up, and give more things to do for the new person to get a handle on the game, it might be a better experience. running around beta-graphics base for two days is NOT fun. from the sounds of it, im not sure id like the mission thing too much if i always got shitty mission leaders. its a cool feature, but i think it may be abused more often than not.
After taking a look at this pos last week ,i was annoyed i had actually even taken the short time i took to download it.
This belongs on an amiga and even then i feel bad for my old 1200 saying that.
I dont get the comment about police tho from above poster. There are some countries in the world that love their police. I live in such a place, mind you they arent all gun totting racist bastards i guess.
Lol don't mind that it was more as a joke as something serious.
Even tho, its not that I find this a excellent game anymore either, as in many games, DEVs have nerfed it a bit.
I had way more fun in this game pre-wipe then post-wipe.
But I still dare to say its a beta, and its not close to release, so I don't know how far you can go in judging a game that is in beta. Its in beta with a reason, that is to improve the game. As long as its not improved enough it will stay beta. Ill just wait with my opinions about the game, till the actual release.
ya, the game was much better before the wipe since everyone had money. Now, no one has money and u have to work so hard to get some money. That's what bores people the most.
I tried playing. I lasted about 2.5 hours. I found some people, they asked me to do a mission. You know what the mission was? I had to run around an empty base and make sure no one gets attacked. That didn't work out too well. So I decided to go to Brooklyn and go PK people. So I run in...snipe a few guys out and I got bombarded with hate tells becasue apparently, there was an agreeement with another group that Brooklyn was ot be a peace zone.
I was new so I asked if there werre any PvE missions I could do to get a fell for combat...I was told no. I asked then WTF do i do? I was told I stand around and wait for shit to happen. That was my 2 hours....nuts. I want to log in a game and within 2 mins I want to be in some kind of action or I am bored.
That game was the worst invetment of 2.5 hours ever.
Originally posted by kirk3 This game anoyed me so much. I played for one day and then lost everything in 20 mins thanks to player who shoot at anything they see. 6 clones all gone in 20 MINS. The the missions are also annoying as there are very few missions and objectives sometimes impossible to complete.
Your rather stupid for buying 6 clones instead of clone insurance which costs 2k and lasts for a week or something
The point is you can't even explore and try and get familiar with the game without someone blowing your head off. I stepped out of my apartment and was killed. After an excruciating long healing process, I teleported to another area only to see another player running from a guy with a shotgun who promptly blew me away. I of course didn't have a gun because my newbie gun was stolen from the first guy.
I don't need to even play 20 minutes like the guy above or get clone insurance for a never ending cycle of dying. You can't even report the person who killed you without finding a security terminal - something that you can't even explore the world to find one.
Without some control over PK'ers this game will become a land of morons who have nothing better to do than kill other players.
WOWSERS MAN, after a year of Beta they still FoMK is still so bad? thats sad. I played that beta when it first first first became available and it was so horrid.

U must see it with own eyes before making any conclusions, everyone his experience is different with this game.
And sadly enough when I walk arround unarmed without any guns, I hardly get pked ( Im a merc ).
So I don't know what faction you choose and place you go.
And to that guy who went sniping in Brooklyn, there never has been made a official ''peace'' in Brooklyn.
The ones tell you that are probally LED, and are ''scared'' or something
Originally posted by DaDragon if you think this is fun you need to go BACK to preschool because you got the brain of a freaking rock i played the game for 2 days and all i could do is stand there and do NOTHING! besides getting ganked by pkers and going on missions just to stand there for a time perid just to earn some cash to buy a weapon THAT YOU CANT USE untell you do about 100 boreing missions otherwise you get attacked by a turret not only that once i am able to find somewhere i can SHOOT it at people not only do the people aparently are very bullet resistant but i get ganked by a pvp and lose my stuff again so in conclusion this game SUCCCCCKKKKSSSS!!!!!!!
Your statement is comical. FoM is a game for much more advanced, and mature gamers. It takes time to get use to, and you actually have to put a little effort into learning the game. It is not some mindless grind against mindless NPCs, or some other generic, boreing MMORPG.
Lets cover your post step by step shall we...
First off, useing a weapon has nothing to do with your mission XP... a combatan can use any weapon at the start of the game. Right now mission XP actually does nothing at all... but it is still beta.
As for the turrets, they are there to prevent the gankings you have complained about. In thoes areas only rank2 and higher LED and FDC are allowed to draw weapons. This is a very good thing actually, becuase if prevents noob cops from doing something stupid before they learn the ropes... and prevents ganks in public areas. Its really no diffrent then the guards in Ultima Online.
People are not "very bullet resistent" at all... but they are also not one shot one kill for the msot part. If people were one shot on kill, you would never have a chance to live through a gank, and killing people would be too easy.
Missions are not boreing IF you know what your doing. As an LED officer I do 5-10 patrols a day. On the patrols we have to walk around and keep the peace in the cities on earth. And defend Demorgans Castle (the LED prison) from raids. Durring these missions we walk around and take care of everything, from some noob pulling his gun out in public to full our raids and ambushes. Most of these situations requier a lot of thinking and most are resolved easily without bullets being fired.
Don't get me wrong... FoM has more then its fair share of drawbacks right now. There is a lot they have to get fixed before it goes live and a few issues that need to be addressed. For instence I am not a fan of players promoting other players. Its a neat idea and if closely monitored by the devs could work well... but if higher ups don't like you, you will probly never advance in rank.
It just sounds to me like you are looking for a run and gun mindless game... something a preschooler might play. And just because YOU suck at a game, does not mean the game itself sucks. Most people hateing FoM don't like it becuae they do not take them time to learn the game and understand whats going on... when you first enter FoM it can be very confuseing and hard to understand whats going on. Just spend some time reading the official site, reading the forums, and politely ask veteran players for help, and if you have to even ask for help on faction chat. Most players will at least give you a nudge in the right direction.
If you want a fast paced shootem up FPS... this is not your game.
If you want a game that requiers inteligence, roleplaying, and player involvement... this is perhaps a game for you.
People saying that this game is boring are mostly noob one. They begin in the game play like 5 hours and say this game is boring because it have nothing to do. All you have to do is asking help to higher rank. They gonna give you money to start. A rank 5 gived me 100k . That enough to begin. This game is good.
If you dont love to talk in mmorpg and all you want to do is killing monster. Then dont play it. This game is a truely RPG (Role playing game) You have to interact with people and dont insult everyone for no reason, like any other mmorpg. You have to be nice, laugh with them, talk about enemy, cops and any other subject. Talk about your life if you want. This is a social-political game. Not a walk and kill game.
But one thing is sure, i dont gonna pay for it. I really love this game, but paying to have a social virtual life, not my thing. They really need more adjustment before release it. Everyone say that they are not ready to realease it in the official forums. Duplex really do a bad move.
Tryon, i totaly disagree with you. But this is really the most detailed bad critic i have seen. im happy to see that you are not like other dummy people that only say "This game is boring, THIS SUCK !" and that all.
What alot of people dont understand in this particular MMORPG is that its not a start-and-fan-cheap-fun-fast. This game takes a bit of time, and once your time has been given, the fun starts to come.
Noobs think because this game is just retail and kind of empty that its gay and they leave. Give the game time. Thats what i thought once 10 months ago when i joined Open Beta, perma-died about 5 times but still gave the game time. Patients with the game people
ooh...look we have an whining who whines he got killed in an PvP game by other games...ooooohhh, bad game, bad game.
oohh yes I love the FDC, I suppose reading you discription that is what you talking about, we gaurd a lot yes, we are the militairy, there WHERE not wars, with there are now, so not a lot to do.
And also... Wars actually costs money in this game. Which means no pointless "run in and die" and go back to cloning and repeat.... You loose ammo, armor by doing that and probably angry superiors (if youre in the FDC)
I've played from June 05 to right after wipe (beginning of 06) Experienced Open Beta'ers might remember me as lint sniffer or lint sniper of the BoS. The game had an excellent idea, the fact that you are esentially free to do whatever is great. The community is(was) amazing. Everyone decent quit already because of the reasons i'm mentioning. The game is now 10 year olds from GameFAQS, but it might not be now that it's p2p. Production was a little arbitrary and confusing, but It was easy to make a huge profit and i made nearly 1000% in the first few months of production. As I played more and more it seemed like the Devs/GMs didn't care about the game, suggestions, or the BoS in particular. One of the main hot point issues was turrets. The LED (corrupt police, against the BoS) bascially had a cheat. They could put up turrets in the cheapest area that would target all of us with weapons out. They could (and did) put one up in the middle of a street battle and force us all to immediately lose the fight. Supposedly this is a exploit, but the GMs are so in love with the LED that they did nothing about it. This is just where apathy begins. When you want to take a colony (level/world) you complete 20(i think) missions, which are user created quests, on the planet, then you can take the planet. One criterion of missions is that people have to actually show up at a specific place when the mission starts! Well the AE (whom we were fighting at the time) created characters in our faction to find out when and where our missions where. Right before the missions started they would raid the place and kill everyone, failing our mission. Creating alternate characters for spying is an exploit, but once again the GMs did nothing. In fact, we managed to take their colonies despite this and the GMs gave the colonies BACK to the original owners that had cheated to keep us from taking them! the Devs/GMs and horrible graphics, glitches, and severe instability makes this game a no play. Some people say the graphics are bad so more people can play, but I was able to run them on an ancient 1.7 GHz P4 at 50+ FPS. Why should people with 7 year old PCs be able to run an MMO at 50 FPS? The graphics looked about equal to zooming in to the characters in Red Alert, but i'm the first to admit graphics is the least important of the criteria I use to determine the quality of a game. Sucky people in charge is what ruined this game.
EDIT: I forgot the lack of variety in the 'factions' is another horrible point. Supposedly you have money-hungry corporations, the noble and wise Global Dominion forces, the sneaky mercenaries, and the freedom loving revolutionaries. But every single faction is the same. None 'specialize' they are just the same thing, war-hungry factions that fight together for tax money. The 'business' people are just as warrior-like as the warriors. The only difference is the FDC and LED (global dominion that the Devs are in love with) get 300 different advantages.

This is a PvP game, and you must learn the politics of the game, and quickly. Apparently you didn't take the time to, or just didn't bother to.
Right now, all the factions are in an economic growth stage, so there's no sanctioned wars "yet". As things settle down, there sure will be.
