I subscribed today and all i have to say this game is nothing like it was in the ob their is only about 80 people total in the motb faction, their is hardly any missions up the only missions that are up are minning and production. I thought this game would be just like it was in ob but i was wrong i cancelled my sub in the first hour of playing. Damn just wasted $13 could have been playing EVE.
This game is not very friendly to new players. This means that new players are dependant on the older players to get started, and to learn how things work. If you dont find any friendly players this can be very hard. Some factions are better than others at providing this help at start. If you find that you are not getting what you need, try changing factions.
i think u think ur sum kind of gameing god well i think people have there own opinoins but i have not played on it yet but looking from the screenshots i think it looks awesome!coz as u could see from my name i am into that kiind of game but also if you know any good games that are based on the mafia or gangster and are non text based please message me at ste_mottram@hotmail.com
FoM can in no WAY be compared to Neocron. I personly Like fom an dislike Neocron. Simple becouse Neocron is to much NPC ran and not player ran like Face of Mankind is.
Seeing you statement makes me assume you either did not played FoM or Neocron. There are two thing the same. They are FPS and are SF. For the rest you tell me what else is the same in both game? If you fail to answer the you whole post was useless it is not contructive. Not bring your opinion in discredit. I just would like to see an more constructive opinion.

Clearly, you have never played Face of Mankind. The ONLY thing that is the same between these two titles, is that they are in the Sci-Fi MMOFPS genre.
If you like a player run game, if you like to choose your own destany, if you don't like the level grinding mmorpgs join "Face of Mankind". The only mmorpg in the WORLD that let the players run everything. And Soon Milestone 2 patches will be out and then FoM will have: better working politics, alien planet with 8 new aliens, better mission system, and more.. And the first patch has already been patched: civilian clothes.
So why not try it out for 1 month? 12dollars (9euro) is not alot of money.
And join the Brotherhood the coolest guys in the game.
A game that relies on player made content is therefore only as good as it's players make it. The fact FoM has a very small playerbase should tell ya something.
I tried this game before, and I liked it... for about 14 minutes. On the 15th minute I got killed by some guy with one shot, and lost all my items. So I decided to go buy a new weapon. I got over to the little store terminal thing, and while im browsing for a new weapon... Oh! What do you know? I get killed again. Since then I never touched the OB.
as a ex-player for almost the entire open beta before retail, it takes players months to fully understand every map. i played for over a year and i still got confused on some colonies.
also about you getting killed within the first 15 minutes... there are multipul factions within Face of Mankind and each one of them may have diffrent statuses with one another. thus one of two may be at war, and as you are new, you do not know this and you goto a contested colony... thats an opps. too bad, quit? no... start talking on ''faction chat'' to get to know your faction members and figure out where you should and should not go. thats pretty simple in my book. trust me, it took me 5 perma-deaths within Face of Mankind before i figured out where i wanted to go, who are my friends and enemies and everything else. its all about trial and error within this game and thats the only way you can get started. this isnt a simple game, you gotta actually think sometimes.
Its still not a game worth playing to me. (I was in the start of open beta)
-And as pleased as I am that Zordax is talking with the player base in some way, theres still a huge lack in content with the game-
All i've seen is the community for the game get worse by the day, and the forums are nothing more than a cesspool, Thats what ultimately drove me from the game at the end of beta -I don't care to play the game with half the people playing now-
There is a learning curve, and its fairly steep for a new player, however past that curve nothing awaits you.
I must admit, there it a huge lack of activity to do once you've finally figured out the base part of the game. All there is to do it mine/produce, sell your production items, do missions and kill people. It has been suggested many times for mini games and what-not but they have yet to put anything of the sort in.
There is another huge milestone patch supposed to be adding alot of new stuff into the game, but still they have yet to say anything about mini games and more content.
I played this game for two days a while back, trying to find something to play instead of SWG. The game looked really promising, with a player run economy and politics, multiple factions and a futuristic setting, which is my preferred genre. So I created my character and joined a faction. The place was pretty empty, but it was clear that there was a community there, with players that knew eachother. In the fist hour or so, while I was trying to get to grips with the game, I was killed TWICE. I didn't go looking for trouble. I was just trying to use the terminals and set up my equipment, maybe find some missions to join.
The second day, I was ganked on two seperate occasions by members of my own faction. Maybe they were just bored. You'd think people would welcome newcomers to the game, as more people online would make the game so much more fun. Apparently not.
This game has some good ideas, but the devs need to do some major work to make this game really playable. It needs to have addictive gameplay. Noobs need time and a safe zone to get used to the interface. I don't think I'll ever play this game again unless it gets a major overhaul.
FoM has a new Community Manager which listens to the players, and takes all players suggestions and ideas into consideration. FoM has moved into a new era. But it still needs players though.

face of mankind is the worst game ever it is total trash try any other game exept this
Make sure when you cancel this game it actually cancels, many people have been charged months after they canceled and didn't realize it.
It is no use trying to contact their crappy tech support, simply block them from charging your card.

I might have to give it another go, you know... not played since the first month of gold, might be worth another look.

I'd say it's worth it. Many people (including myself) have come back this summer.
I'm looking for a new MMORPG and my favorite genre is sf.. I played Anarchy Online for a year.... Should I give this a try?
The title of this thread provides a very complete answer to that question.
