If you find Eve boring then i sugest either get out of the 1st sistem you start and discover this game's true beauty ! Or just go play a shallow game..... and kill worms and roosters !
PS: and unlike others company, the game producers are actually do give a shit about comunity ! Free content and exansion, super fast ingame assistance (where its appropiate), dev blogs that respond to the concerns addressed by the players, etc.

Yes, I know you like to believe Eve-Online is the deepest game about. That all others are just shallow compared to it. Honestly though, no one cares anymore. Simply put all the games you seem to think are shallow. Probably most likely have never been played by you.
Yes, we all know you got a free expansion. Eve-Online fans never pass up the chance to bring it up.. over, and over. Even when it has no relevance to the topic at hand.
Some of you Eve-Online fans need to just accept. That most people don't like, don't care about, or are just uninterested in Eve-Online. I see far too many of you on some sort of "Convert or Die" campaign for Eve-Online. If people want to check it out. They'll check it out. They really don't need the endless topics on Eve-Online, or having someone pop into threads. Where Eve-Online isn't needed, only to talk about Eve-Online.
While Eve-Online fans are not the only ones that do that. I think your group makes up about the most annoying ones. Far worse then EQ2, WoW, or SWG fans by far.

Is it a requirement of EvE that players become howling bigoted fanatics or is that just a side effect of the game ?
Side effect of something else... I know several EVE Online players that play and just calmly enjoy it.
I myself play it on my laptop while I do other things on my Desktop... great game.
I admit openly though, it's definately not for everybody.

You can call me fanatic or funboi or whatever you want. Its indeed a sideeffect of this game.
I am almost 28, i am economically self sufficient, i pay my own bills and monthly fees (unlike MANY others here) so you can hardly think of me as being a "boi" but whatever.
This post is a response to all those "Eve boring" posts comming from true "boys" that issue a statement based on few hours of play.
It is the only game where you truelly feel something when you lose a ship, an imense joy when you win an advance tech blueprint original and so on. This hardcore gamestyle its what makes it unique. And believe my, i have tried several MMOs out there (WoW, SWG, DAOC and GW). They are shallow because, among other many things, there is no real penalty when you die. The lack of this penalty makes winning something or killing some1 a routine and hardly an achievement. If i dont lose nothing when i die and just respawn at a certain point, then i play careless and in the end aimless. This arcade style is what makes other games shallow. And i'm not mentioning player driven game economy and so on.
As you can see, i am advertising this game for free. I have absolutly no connection with the producers nor i am paid for this. It is just my "thank you" for a game that practically eats my social life

As for that CGI made movie, trust me, it didnt took hours but more weeks if not months to create. Point me another comunity as fanatic as Eve's. Show me their outside the game implications.
And yeah, Eve is not for everybody, thanks God (no insult intended). Alse i would be shooting long eared Night Elf ships

Of all the games I have played including Eve none of them have arcade style play.
I haven't played Planetside yet but then I probably won't as I don't like SOE's version of customer service.
Eve is boring to some and not to others. Play what you like and let others do the same this crusade to convert people needs to stop as its pointless.
Labelling others boys doesn't work either as I left Eve after two years as I found the trading aspect and the travel time boring, yet I am older than you and also financially self reliant.
Eve combat was ok but nothing special as previously mentioned I haven't come across any MMORPG that requires player skill in combat or twitch as you put it, the skill that Eve does require is in preparation and planning.
Please can we lay these "EVE *is* boring" and "EVE is *not* boring" threads to rest!?! I am not annyoed by people saying so or so, I can live with any of the two opinions, but this constant bickering starts to get out of hand.
Nothing even remote constructive arsises from them. Mods, if you read this, please lock any such thread in the near future for trolling.

I'm not going to get into the whole argument of EvE being boring, but... damn. I couldn't watch more than the first 10 seconds of that video. I thought EvE players were collectively a mature group of people. The sheer mediocrity with which that video was made was like a slap in the face to me, being a professional free-lance video editor.
I felt like I was watching another WoW rogue PvP video...

I have played many MMORPG's including UO, AC, EQ, EQOA, AC2, CoH, EQ2, WoW, GW, L2, MapleStory, ROSE, RYL, SB, SoR, EVE and many more. I didn't like a lot of those MMORPG's but IMHO EVE is by far the most boring MMORPG I have ever played. I normally wouldn't respond but don't post about how exciting EVE is because it's is not. I can understand some people liking EVE but not because EVE is exciting.
I'd just like to add that hardcore death penalty or 'feeling something when you die' as per the OP's reasons for enjoying Eve and hating everything else arent for most people, good for you that you enjoy extreme grief in failing something more than others. You should learn to realize where your taste in games stand and not pretend your opinions are going to apply to 'most' people.
I'd be curious to know what other games people into Eve they thought were great. I bet they'd name other obscure games that nobody liked as their favorites of alltime. Ignorance is bliss
We don't say eve is boring to be mean, it is genuinely a boring game. The fact that someone spent hours and hours trying to create an argument for it shows how little it can stand up on its own.

but i did the free two weeks and found out it would be a good game if they opened up new servers so noobs werent always getting stomped by those socially retarded people with insanely maxed out everything who play 26 hours a day....

I'm currently doing the 14 free day thing, and honestly it's the most mind numbing game I've ever played. Seriously. I literally have to force myself to log on, but I'm honestly trying. Really. I'm not just saying the game is crap and deleting it, I'm really trying to log on regularly and play for the 14 days to see if I can get into it.
But I can't say Eve fanboys are the worst for 1 reason...I've met a real life SWG fanboy. That's right, a real life one, in person, face to face. He comes into where I work and will stand there talking about how awesome SWG is and how I should come back to the game and play. He'll stand there while I'm ringing up customers, cleaning, stocking...and talk about SWG. Non-stop........he's in his 40's.
What's with all these people trying to convince everyone else that Eve is so good? IMO the game always did and always will suck. Nothing anyone can say will change that.

Wow exactly what I wanted to say! All this constant promoting of the game and the constant "rules" to enjoying the game (ie. "well if you didn't enjoy it don't mine so much", "you have to join a corp to have fun", "you have to get past the first system" etc.) only suggest to those of us non/borderline fans that this game really is boring at it's core.
I want a game that is fun to play at its core and by doing certain things or playing a certain way I only enhance it! Not a game that is boring at its core but I can find some fun it (ie. by doing something else during all the downtime, making up some goals for myself etc.).
Just cool it on over-promoting this game for awhile and the anti-Eve sentiment around here might die down.
That's something I really don't understand, why does a death penalty have to be huge for it to be meaningful. I take care of my character while I'm playing (I really hate dying) because I am trying to picture the character in the story, if they continually die...it's not much of a story is it.
Anyway...sometimes I impose my own death penalty (for story reasons), for example in EQ2 I played a dark elf dirge and tried very hard to not let her die. By the time she hit level 22 she hadn't had a death and it was getting quite nerve wracking in some situations because I was striving to keep my no-deaths record. Anyway...eventually she died (I think I was on the phone actually...or at least not concentrating) and I played her a little bit more...and then gave up. Never played her again, she was not "believable" to me anymore...now THAT'S a death penalty. I don't do that all the time, of course, but it was very involving and interesting...and it certainly beat any "game imposed" penalty. (On that subject, there is a "real death" penalty game coming up that I'm interested in playing mainly because of it, and that's "The Chronicle" I think)
Yeah you do have a point. Any really obsessed star wars fan is something to be scared of. Actually it's probably a tie between them and star trek fans. They can be pretty unruly to.

I bet all of you sarcastic and arrogant folks here that pretend to know a game in about 2 hours when you "force yourself" to login bough and enjoyed Tomb Raider series and turn it into a "success".
Eve is a niche game and will remain like this and not be liked by those that enjoy killing a turkey in a game and collecting its feathers. I'm glad the likes of you stay out but i dont like when you judge a game without even knowing what you are saying.
As for that "amator" video editing guy, what i can say is that you must have real problems. The first 10 seconds made you evaluate Eve comunity as being imature then LOL.
Maybe you are not aware of the "CareBEAR" notion and the relation between "PvP-ers" and "Carebear-ers" in any game. I myself find the "backstory" of that little movie pretty ingenious and hillarious. You lack the sense of humor and so you say that those who made the video are imature ?? Maybe if you stop videoediting so many "MATURE" films you would not judge ppl so quickly.
If you dont like eve, dont play. But same, dont say about it its boring just because you dont like it. Go kill some more turkeys. Thanks giving day is comming so hurry up
