I love the NGE there is no way this game is dying i never seen so many players hell C-net was full for the first time in months i went to the cantin on tatooine and i enver seen so many players only thing i hate is that the damn quests to get the yt-2400 is hard but who cares they finaly made this the way it should be flame on

i dont like quest based games, they tend to be buggy or pretty much kill X number of times to = xxxx over and over, group hunting is easier and less running around like u have to with some quests.

NGE is just what SWG needs, hope.
Without NGE SWG was dying, period.
With a new system that they can actually extend there is hope for SWG.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
personally, i hate the new system. all it did was dumb down the existing system by a lot. Limited professions now, no customization with your profession. There used to be tons of different paths u could take. Now there's only 9 set paths and thats it. The combat in the new system is a very cheezy third person shooter style. Extremely simplistic and boring. If anything, this NGE is what finishes off SWG. I already know of tons of people who cancelled their accounts due to it.
SWG is at its final stand. They will try to survive until Christmas ie the TooW expansion. Then depending on whether or not PS3 numbers look good or bad, they will either shut it down or it will live on in console.
If I were a betting man, I would say it fails.
I went looking for the ToOW yesterday. Everybody from EB, to SE, Best Buy, K-mart, Walmart, you name it. I couldn't find it. In fact, the boys at EB told me they never had it at all, chose not to stock it.
After reading the forums and listening to the specifics of complaints as far as bugs, I have to conclude that this entire NGE is currently in a state of 'game breaking status', and therefore owning ToOW would have been a giant waste of money...
...especially since by the time they get around to ironing out the total disaster, who knows what price changes and new packages, or free expansions will be offered? They change it so often I can't keep track of the current status of the game anymore.
So, better off I didn't find it. I'm richer for the experience.

Yes, allow me to elaborate. The suits knew that there would be mass cancellations when they announced NGE, thus the money grab that is known as ToOW. The money they made from said cash-grab was supposed to tide them over and stem the losses from the NGE cancels. Unfortunately for them, they now must offer a refund for their treachery.

In any other forum, I'd tell you honestly that I think you read too many UFO comic books and link a pic of a cartoon of you wearing a tinfoil hat, complete with propeller and kool aid dispenser.
But these are the SWG forums. This is why I count you more realistic than most others here.

I would disagree with the IT JUST GOT BETTER comment, if you like diversity.
If you loved Everquest, this game is probably right up your alley.
Nothing wrong with either, I just prefer a game for intelligent people, instead of something anyone can pick up in about 5 minutes. Dont get me wrong, I understand not everyone wants to devote time to learning a game, but I do like a high learning curve.
I played SWG for as long as I did (since launch) due to the ability to have a unique character in abilities as well as appearance. Even WoW has talents to customize your profession. They may end up adding something like that in future I am guessing.
For the people saying those crying for it to be more like KOTOR and now have got what they asked for are wrong. While I believe that Sci-Fi is best done by skill based methods (not professions mind you) however as everyone just seems hellbent on class systems, they should have used the WotC Star Wars P&P just as KOTOR did. At least then it would have some diversity and a system that has already been balanced. Not to mention that it would be helping out one of their other license holders.
If you have complained about WoW being boring, SWG is now even more so. You don't have to think about what you are going to put together, just pick one and go. Good for some, but bad for others. I would be one of the others.
What I would like to see... that they might actually put together... is the WotC based (D20) SWG II, with not so much wide open space, but dedicated areas and some open spaces. So you would be traveling between say, Cloud City and Coronet, or other specific locales. More developed quests. They were doing good on this. Developing quests that had story. I hate to keep comparing them to a game that I only find average, but WoW does do a good job in making involving quests. (If you actually like to know what you are supposed to be doing in the story line).
Still having a limit of 2 characters is not nearly enough considering. I am hoping to see some more adjustments very fast, because as the product stands right now, It would only be interesting for a few weeks at best for most MMOers out there.
Well I do wish them the best of luck, but I personally refuse to pay SOE any more money just due to their sheer dishonesty and lack of consideration of veterans. Bewarned new subscribers.. you never know what they are going to do to you.

I love it when someone posts there are players everywhere so it must be a huge success lol. Face facts fanboys, the NGE is a complete joke and a slap in the face for the vets. I guarantee you SWG will lose 50-75% of its players within a month. After that, it will lose the players who came back to try it. Im betting the game will have less than 50k subscribers within 3 months. More will leave when SOE announces the server mergers.
I will totally surprised if this game makes to PS3. The momentum to last that long just isnt there.
SWG used to be.......USED to be a great game in beta and 1 month after. I have played 90 something percent of all MMORPGs and other online games out there and SWG's dev team were THEE worst dev team out of every other company developing or maintaining their online games.
The crap SOE pulled off back then was way too extreme which, (and they won't give you these figures but I will), costed them from a starting subscriber base of 279k dropped off gradually and at the 3 month mark was cut in half if not less than half, fact.
I have been following their progress all this time after when they released Jump to Lightspeed. I have been reading the complete idiotic stunts they pull off to their current customers, unbelievable. Now this latest one is by far the worse one yet and I truly feel the pain of most of the SWG subscibers going through this. I still remember all the crap SOE pulled off when I used to play but now they have gone to extremes.
SWG needs to die and be buried, was a great license and title to hold but unfortunately the WRONG company got a hold of it and demolished what could of been the best MMORPG ever created. I would love nothing more than to see SOE lose this license and their SWG game, it is for the best.
SOE is a very arrogant company and if you think they listen or even give a rat's a$$ on the subscriber's opinion think again. They have proven that they will do whatever the hell they want even at the PAYING CUSTOMER'S expense to achieve some dumb a$$ goal of theirs.
I'm thinking they may want to give it an xbox2 version, just in case it won't have legs to reach the PS3 release date.

yes so what it has bugs and so what it has a lot of other problems but what makes it fun is the person playing it and the people you play with so if you play on lowca send a tell or email to maxdo
