Hey, Mr.Commando, did you try out the amazing heavy weapons ?

No ? Im not surprised: They are disabled atm, cause they messed them up.

But thats no problem, since different weapons are completely useless, you have always the same damage output, only combat level is what counts ...

Or did you hit Lvl30 yet ? Well, after that the games is over for you now, cause they added content for a quest based system only up to level 30. You can continue then the good old fashind grinding way, but with less experience than before.

I could continue for hours, and I would be happy if you tell us your exciting starwarsy storys in a week or so when you are finished with the content.

It's hard to tell where the sarcasm begins and ends here, but plainly this game is not what it used to be and as for the person mentioning Kashyyk & Mustafar as content, they're actually expansion packs.   You don't have to pay for content normally.   Kashyyk is so weak anyway, why add a new planet to a galaxy full of them if you won't allow people to walk where they wish?  So they can get some great loot?  Wait, that's not it, great loot is something that everyone else doesn't get from doing the same easy quests you did.

Really guys whats the point of arguing with him? This thread was obviously made to make your blood boil. Just let him reach level 30 and he will dissapear from the forum. Even AA cant defend the game after that.

Hey understood and I'm not saying I know it all yet, only that I'm having fun. I'm CL26 now and on Naboo continuing with the Legacy quest. No need to get all upset, you had to figure someone would like it didn't you? And that's me. And you would have to have a very sheltered and privileged life to get to CL30 in one week. Maybe that's why I like it too, I can only play a couple of hours a day.

Will be the first to admit there is no content at level 30 once I get there and there isn't any, I promise.

This thread was NOT made to make anyones blood boil. It was made because I have every right to say I like it as everyone else has the right to bitch and moan and call John Smedley a thief, liar and the reason their lives suck. I like the game right now and if you don't, well bully for you. When I get to level 30 I will most certainly NOT dissapear from the forum. If I run out of content I will be the first to admit it.

I haven't played SWG since I retired as an MBH 2 years ago (imo, the game was a disaster). However, based on this thread, since I am an All Access Plan subscriber for SOE, I will reload the game this weekend and check it out. To be honest, I don't have high hopes but I will give it a fair look.

Why is someone stating they like the NGE in SWG done to make someone's blood boil?

I like the NGE as well.  I liked the old game too.  The new combat is way more interactive.  However, as the debate has gone, the game isn't all about combat.  There are some issues with crafting (no decay, etc).  I can only have a little faith they will fix any issues in good time.

Question for those still in the game. I made a new char to try the new content out . Im on the legacy quest and i get to the quest about choosing a side (imp or reb) i go talk to both recruiters then when i want to pick neiother will talk to me for the quest anyways. Will the legacy quest continue if i missed that one little quest?

  • anarchyartanarchyart Member Posts: 5,378
Hmm sounds wierd. I think you probably did select whichever one you went to first. Check your quest journal and double click legacy to open it up. There should be a quest there, highlight it to see what to do next. Whatever it says to do next, do it. I went Imperial and you talk to the guy and he changes your quest.

No i chose to wait till later or whatever the option was. :( Then when i went back to talk to them they "had no time to speak to me". My legacy quest journal is empty atm. Im hoping jabba or bib will msg me and send me somewhere beefore to long:(
  • anarchyartanarchyart Member Posts: 5,378
Yes you can go back to the person before them and they will just tell you to go back to the Imperial or Rebel recruiter. image

Commando is the class I've chosen, level 21 I get to wear blast armor, can't wait. imageFrom what I hear there are tons of quests after level 30. They can be found through out the galaxie such as Kashyyyk and Mustafar. I guess you forgot about all the old quests that are out there and are still there.Be aware AA, there are zero quests or content once you reach 30... The figured they didn't need to put in anything past lvl 30...

From what you hear there are tons of lvl30+ quests.

Well, I have a lvl 38 toon, he only got played part time when my Live server and TC were both 'resting' so never really advanced terribly far. I've done the Legacy quests on him so far, plus some for the Alliance, the Eisley start quests etc. What I do know is that, immediately on finishing the Legacy quests which are listed as going upto lvl28 but are easily completable by a much lower level toon, teh XP pretty much stops.

Kashyyyk missions are not giving quest XP. This is a 'known issue' and is being looked into. Along with a myriad of other known issues which will be addressed "soon ™"

Planets are now zoned so that creatures of specific levels spawn in specific areas (See the Friday Feature "A Hunters Maps") meaning that some areas are now too dangerous for midlevel players to go wandering about doing quests. An example of this would be the short mission chain running from Dant MO where you do some work for the Imperial officer in the building there. The area around the MO now has natural spawns in the CL50-65 bracket. Not good.

Of course, so long as the mission terminals in player cities on the planet you are on aren't capped at CL15 or 25, you can take some missions. But at 500xp per kill, that's a long, long way to get your levels up. And don't whatever you do think about grouping as XP is being divided between team members again with no bonus to grouping.

Again, this is apparently an issue they are looking at and will be addressed.... soon™

Still, as I put on my Slick Shoes of Good Fortune, my Hat of Chance and my Weighted Jacket of Joy Joy Happy Happy and head out to fight the CL 1-10 Tuskens that are camped within a worts spit of Mos Eisley, at least I can smote them mightily with my Lance of the Deserter (charmed for +5 Con) and think "Wow, isn't this just so Star Warsy"...

Well I didn't realize there was another thread that was actually praising the new CU. I just made another thread basically saying the same things Anarchyart has.

Combat is waaaaaay more fun than it was before. Feels more like KOTOR, which is a good thing IMO.

I have a lvl 12 Jedi in training and a lvl 10 Commando...though I'm leaning on the Jedi for now. I find force lighting just too fun not to use image.

One of the most idiotic statements I have ever read.

Have you forgotten that TONS of *NEW* players were joining the game over the summer and autumn? Folks who were tired of WoW were trying it out. They're all between CL30 and CL70. Fully half my PA were under CL40 when I left and many of them are now still under CL70

All of those NEW PLAYERS TO THE GAME are now ***screwed***

HALF of a 100+ player PA.

Don't make broad assumptions about what CL players are.
You're also forgetting about people's characters that were mix between crafter and combat profs who were in the CL 50'ish range. ALL of them are screwed too.

Oh and the entertainers and such... who were CL.... 0

    WHEE!!!

And, TBH, it shouldn't take very long at all to hit CL30 in this new system. Game has been out a month. In the 10 days I played the trial I got a noob char to CL21 and was only playing an hour or two a night, some nights a tad longer. (edit: I'd say I probably averaged 2.5hrs a night, max).

So a lot of players are now stranded. And the longer it takes them to add more quests the more people will be stuck.

It's OK to like the game. I'm glad you do. But don't try to white-wash a blatant oversight by SOE here.

I have a CL 80 guy on wanderhome i respecced from TKM to Spy. I made a new BH on a different server to see the new content and play the character and im having a blast when i get to play. If i hit level 30 and stall ill just work on my CL 80 char until new content is put in.

My biggest gripe so far is bad bad lag at times and im not sure all the specials are working as intended i will need to play a bit more before i can say for sure. Other than that its not bad it has tons of potential they need to get the crafters involved and what not but i say to all you who have quit just keep your eyes on it dont mark it off completely yet.

If I went to a restauraunt and I ordered a $15 beer and they gave me half a glass I'd leave.

Which is exactly what I've done with SWG.

Not really, they gave you a full glass of beer and then everyone bitched that it was light beer. So they brought a Heineken. Then everyone bitched that this wasn't beery enough. So they brought over a Lowenbrau and then everyone said "This isn't the beer we paid for give us our damn light beer back!".image

Hahahaha.. Anarchy, that was good and pretty accurate. ;p

If I went to a restaurant and they actually asked me to pay $15 for a beer, I would leave.

I thought it was pretty good too. image And yeah, Elnator where do you buy your beer?? image Either way, they do have a lot of work to do on the game, but I enjoy the new combat system. I wish they could have kept the skill trees and perhaps just narrowed down the number of skills and implemented them with the new combat system. Time will tell how it all pans out, and I'll be right there playing it.image

Not "Everyone" only SOME people complained. And SOE should have known better than to listen to a vocal minority. Also, ACCORDING TO SOE, they didn't listen to the PLAYERS for NGE they listened to some 3rd party company who held focus groups. Mostly with people who had LEFT the game.

I *liked* the CU, thank you very much. I even *mostly* liked the game "pre-CU" my only real problem pre-CU was with Jedi and doc buffs being so god-awful powerful. All they had to do, imo, pre-CU to balance things out was
    1) Reduce the ham cost of armor so you don't need buffs to wear the stuff (I never did like that)
    2) Reduce the strength (but not the duration) of Doc Buffs by 60%
    3) Give Medics a way to heal mind damage (not wounds) in combat
    4) Implement Sabre TEF and Permadeath for Jedi.

This would have very effectively balanced the CURRENT game without pissing too many people (well... except Jedi flakes) off and would have avoided the mass defections that CU caused. Then they could have added ROTW in May, like they did, without the CL crap and would have reaped the EXACT SAME NUMBER of NEW PLAYERS as they did over the summer.

Now, mind you, I didn't mind the CU too much. While I don't agree with HOW they did it they did solve several of the problems I had with the game. The problem I had with CU was they left Jedi alone and actually made their lives easier. Other than that I thought the CU was just fine. And I said so on numerous occasions.

(BTW: I know full well they will never do anything to reduce the ability of people to enjoy Jedi. LucasArts is convinced that Jedi sell, and .... to a certain point... they are right, unfortunately... damn luke skywhiner wannabe's)

    As to the NGE:
I don't know a single solitary person who wanted the NGE to happen. Everyone I knew in the game liked the CU... the people I knew out of the game who didn't like the CU wanted it put back to the OLD way. Instead they ripped out everything that made SWG so unique and replaced it with yet another cookie-cutter EQ style class/level system MMORPG with semi-FPS combat thrown on top of it.

WHEE!!!! Gee now this is just SOOOO much more rewarding to play.... NOT

When I bought SWG I got a full glass of beer.
When the CU came out I got a different kind of beer but it was still a full glass.
Then NGE hit.... I think we can safely label the NGE as HALF a glass of "Near Beer" (Those of you who remember when they raised the friggen drinking age to 21 will remember 'near beer'.

As I've said before: I'm glad you like it. I just don't understand how you could possibly be willing to pay a monthly fee for a game that isn't finished. After CU the game was still finished. After NGE it is now not even 50% complete. Fully 60% of the levels in the game have no content that fits the new game style.

But you go ahead and pay for a 40% complete game if you wish. All you're doing is showing the game companies that they can continue to abuse their customer base with impunity.

Let's get this straight for once and for all. The only reason they had a focus group was because of the complainers.

And yes I love the game how it is. I'm CL27 and am still knee deep in content. When I'm not, I won't pay OR bitch. End of story.

Was SWG ever finished?? It has been a work in progress it's entire life span. I hope they do fix the obvious bugs and inject it chock full of content above CL30. I do like the new combat much better than the old, although melee and other areas need fixing and fine tuning, but was the game ever honestly in a perfect complete state?

Also I would love to see some raiding end game and some GCW battlegrounds. image
