Man teh populations are sooo low!

I've noticed the last couple days the populations are mega low!
Atleast on farstar all the populated areas are no more and even Mustafar has noone there :(

I know RATS (the guild im in) most of the people there are leaving including me and even the leader :(

It's sad! SOE will really see the results of the NGE in 6 months time

I haven't noticed any difference, actually since the NGE is the first time I ever saw any server other than Bria at heavy. Can't remember which one. And I don't care, NGE rocks and I can't stop playing it it's so fun. image

THe heavy / low light indicators are simply bars that they can adjust at any time...if "heavy" is set to 500 ppl....then they can lower it to heavy = 100 ppl....

I logged onto my last remaining account last night...and I went to Theed cantina , starport...then to Eisley cantina and starport.....in all 4 of those locations, I only counted 50 ppl total ever seen....OH , that's BRIA.....the "HIGHEST"population server too....on a night when there would be 50 standing at the theed starport alone.....

I support the NGE too.....but it's not called SWG....it should have been a new off the shelf product....NGE is a new product and not what we paid for.

HAHA I'd make the "Rats leaving the sinking ship" joke, but it'd be too obvious.

Game is dead. Tarquinas is all but a ghost town.  Last night there was like 12 people playing that I came across.  Mostly vets, about two new people.   I asked the vets if they were sticking around.  All said the same thing.  Only if more people start playing again...otherwise they were going to let their subs runout.

If you've read some of the reviews from EBgames, and amazon, you'll see that this gme doesn't have a chance in hell now.  SOE waited to long.  We're looking at another AC2.   They refused to listen this time and the player base has spoken.  Smedley should probably start looking for another job. ASAP.

And when the game is still around in 2 years will you be saying the same thing or admit that you were wrong?

If this game is around in two years, not only will I admit I was wrong...I'll fly to where ever you are and let you have your way with me.  How's that?

If SOE continues to not listen to its player base the game is as good as dead.  If they do a 180, then it might survive.  SOE is not one to back down though...and this time it will be their undoing.

Chilastra seems ok.  Last night we had some mass PvP in Theed (the whole courtyard was pretty full) and this was around 4am EST.  Around the same time they did a Live event, the one where Rebel NPCs start invading Theed.  So us Imps were trying to kill off NPCs and players lol.  Of course us Imps ended up winning image.  After the NGE hit, the populations on Chilastra did get pretty low, but things seem to be building back up again.  Same thing happened with the CU, people left then they got bored and decided to "give it one last go" and then ended up discovering that it wasn't as bad as they first thought :p

I agree , Farstars population is low atm and i cant see what SOE will be able to do to bring players back

game wont be here in 2 years .. SOE only had a 4 year contract with LA for the liscense .. its been almost 3 .. so maybe 18 months left tops until it comes up and dealing with LEC isnt fun when they are mad at you.

I have had the displeasure of dealing with LEC once with a liscense for a product, the hoops you jump thru are are iron clad and LEC always mainttains an escape clause that says if you hurt the SW franchise you can be held liable for it.

I dont see how it would get extended , LEC does NOT have auto extensions built into their contracts Lucas himself is to paranoid about losing it in some small way and accidentally creating an independant SW liscense. at least thats what we were led to believe when we could only get a 90 day .

Oh for crying out loud Anarchy don't BS. Prior to NGE there were 3-4 servers at any given time during prime-time US on "Extremely Heavy" and another 3-4 servers at "Heavy" Then a whole slew at Medium and another large chunk of "light"

Now there's a huge number of "light" a few "medium" and 2 or 3 "heavy" and NO, ZERO, ZIP, NADA at "Extremely Heavy" anymore.

The game is declining. It *may* grow again due to box sales but I think that chance is slim. It's not like they have another movie to piggyback off of and the DVD's advertise BattleFront 2, not SWG.

I think the reason the DVD has no advertising for SWG is because when it was released we didn't have the NGE :)  They would have been advertising something that was being changed in 2 weeks

    I agree
But the simple fact is this:
There's nothing for them to piggyback off of like they did for CU. CU survived because they managed to get HUGE visibility out of an international TV Add campaign AND the release of EPIII. Were it not for EPIII I honestly think the CU would have had just as disastrous affects on subscribers as NGE has. Though I think CU would have survived long term where I'm not at all certain about NGE. Especially if they can't fix the lag issues for many players.

Heh international as far as Europe (maybe Japan) image  SOE does not market or even sell SWG outside of Europe, USA and Japan.  EBgames here in NZ has been getting alot of requests for the game, but they can't get it in without some large charges.  It has the potential to do well in Australia too (afterall, their national census has Jedi as a religon option lol), but SOE & LA don't seem to want to sell it down this way image

In addition to being able to set the 'bands' for light/medium/heavy/very heavy to whatever they want, there is also the possibility that itself generates more traffic than preNGE code did and if the server loads are reflecting data traffic and not players logged on that could also cause an increase in apparent load.

If it does reflect server traffic bear in mind that every new log in of an old player triggers a massive amount of scripts to, among other things, clean inventories of deleted items, update weapon stats, modify player stats, check repec elegibility, check vet award status, etc etc.

I was on Bria today (Sunday) and travelled to a few of the traditional high traffic areas to do a /who and see how laggy things felt.

Mos Eisley. Yup, good few new/lowbies around. /who 32 players, 4 showing Elder tags. Not too laggy tho. (for Eisley, Bria on a Sunday avo)

Jabbas. /who 18. Most of the ELders that showed seemed to be over in Bestine. Ther ewere 6 players in the palace area questing.

Espa. /who 2. Me and somebody travelling out ot the Sennex compound. Espa used to be kinda busy but way back preCU it died the death. I just went there today cos it's where I live ;) No Lag!

C-net. /who 21. 8 Elders, two of whom were afk advertising clear out sales.

    Theed. /who 25 players. ~10 Elders.

    Dant MO. /who 28 players. ~20 Elders

    Dath MO. /who 7 players. 7 Elders

    Mustafar. /who 1. Me.

To be honest I expected the proportion of Elders to go up as we went to the higher level locations, Dant is now zoned for lvl60-80 spawns so it is the mid/high ground zone. But out at Sweetwater, 1k from the MO, there was me, an artisan and an Elder BH. The artisan was moving his stuff down to Tat as he found Dant too scary now and the BH was, like me, too stunned at the place being deserted to play.

PreNGE I'd have expected ALL of these places to be showing 32 on the /who and for the lag to be between 'noticable' and 'omg 2fps and rubber banding...'

I'd expect them all to be showing 32 at this time of the evening and I might log in just to go check. I also jumped onto one of the quieter servers and, tbh, it was around the same sort of levels of player activity. I guess it means that NGE has, if nothing else, made Bria a quieter place to play...

I don't trust the server load status becuase the dark side clouds everything!

I have 63 persons in my friends list and I was used to see like 20 persons online all the time, however these days I have no more than 3 friends online, yesterday I had zero friends online!

This game is decying since SOE made ADKs useless ;)

    Cheers, Antoan

    Holy batcrap!!

Wasnt this the same guy saying that the CU was great and a burst of life for SWG? ;)

As to server loads, I was telling you all months ago that SoE could/was adjusting them on the fly, but no one seemed to believe me then.

Watching the progression of SWG 05-05 through now has been like watching a train wreck in progress.

Hate to say it.............but...............I told you so. ;)

Keep in mind that anybody who PvPs and has at least been around those that are good at it, will have their /who listing turned off for the element of surprise.  On my server there could be over 50 people in Theed, but /who will only show 15 people there

Ok, so since I don't think people are believing me, here's some views of Theed and Corronet on Chilastra this afternoon (around 9pm US EST) image

    image

    image

    image

As you can see, Theed looks pretty lively and it's probably busier then it usually was pre-nge in those screenies.  Corronet on the other hand actually had people in it, and they weren't spammers!  Before it was usual to see 1 or 2 people in Corronet since JTL was launched, but now it's pretty lively :)  It's been pretty active too GCW wise, today for instance both Theed and Corronet switched back and frowards from Imperial and Rebel control (Theed had NEVER been under Rebel control and Corronet had NEVER been under Imperial control), the latest GCW change seems to have sparked interest in that again :)

umm, whats your point AA? AC 2 stayed around WAY more years then it made money. The servers being up is hardly a statement of a game's success. They ran AC 2 til it was down to 2 servers, and really those 2 should have gone through a merge.

I think this statement of yours is almost as rediculous as the one about people shouldn't complain about SWG while there are starving people in Africa.
