Thinking about getting Lineage II

gargantroogargantroo Member Posts: 1,477

I want to get this game. It looks like it's for heavy PVPers and the graphics are wonderful.. but one thing has caught my attention in gaming magazines-
I hear the leveling is masochism :OO
I was curious as to "how hard" it was so I checked IGE.
A couple of thousand to get you to the level cap and a couple of months to complete it ::::06::
Not that I was planning on using IGE's leveling services but that obviously means it will take A LONGG time to get to the level cap :(

a long time, i got lvl 40 in 2 weeks of near constant play with a twinked char and it was considered pretty fast (that was spamming soul shots in c2)

    what is the level cap?

75 in C3 = Cronicle 3// in C4 im unsure but i think lvl cap will go 80

1 to lvl 40 casual will take 1 month i guess... for new players

5 hours a day if thats your style then; 2 weeks to reach 40; maybe...

1 to 75 around a year... for new players

if you loked at IGE. you get the roung image; sevreal players have lvled they toons in 1 or 2 days to 20-40; all done bye Uber Gear; SS/SpS + buffsbots usage... for a new players its a little hard
even some 1 to 52 in a week...
i reached lvl 20 with just good gear and ss usage in 1 day...

heres your bonusses as a new player
    http://www.lineage2.com/guide/bonuses.html

heres info on pvp thats good to know
    http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/cp.html

when C4 hits; witch it will soon... you can no longer drop items upon death as red; if you have under 5 PKs...
oh yere theys a quest to; to lower your pk count, can be done over and over again...

EDIT: oh yere; stick with your class, find some info before you start one up; each class at lvl 40 has they ups and down in Pve or PvP, or different styles... Human, Elf, Dark Elfs, classes really splits in very diffreent ways at lvl 40 on pve and pvp gl ::::28::

I was rerolling to Spellsinger shortly before the start of C2 after finding out that C2 updates will destroy my chars totally. I was playing up to 6-12hours a day and had an out of group l5x EE for recharges/heal/basic buffs. I needed a little less then 4 weeks for 1-40. Sat down more then i levelled even though i had a lot higher level recharge slave.

But it really depends. There are tricks/cheats to level you multiple times faster. 1-60 in a few days are possible if you have a good friend with the right class or pay one of the many illegal powerlevelling services.

If you don't mind too many cheaters around you and you like the retail focus on pve and grind I'd still suggest you checking L2. If I had the required time to compete with all the 24/7 bot trains and pay 2 get PL guys I'd be still playing it I guess.

The grind may be heavy and it sure isnt as easy as most MMORPG's, but it is the best/most fun game on the market atm.

Well just soloing all day long wouldnt make me happy, its a MMORPG... playing with a group of friends is so much more fun.

I would suggest you look at a different web site for a better idea what L2 is all about. You won't get a very good idea here on MMORPG.com. Its more or less infested with haters of the game. Most of which never played or played a long time again and are very out of touch with the game.

The grind is tough, the economy is rough. Unless you have a thick skin and can easily make friends you will not enjoy this game. Solo is mechanicly possible throughout the game however you will never make it far or have any fun alone. The core of the game is the "clan" and co-operation.

Try these links for actual facts and information about the game

     http://www.lineage2.com/

    http://l2.allakhazam.com/

    http://lineage2.stratics.com/

Or just listen to the MMORPG crowd. We all play bots and farm all day...........

Why you wanto to reach the level cap instead of pvping each lvl you do ?

Aren't you moving to lineage2 cuz you heard it's for hard pvpers ? So, do it.

In all MMORPGs, there isn't an 'end game', and if u'll reach the 'ipothetic' end game, u'll become bored for sure, in no time.

Watch at WoW, so many lvl 60 (almost all), and so many players leaving for other games, included coming to Lineage2, or 'coming BACK' to Lineage2..

I've been hearing good things about this game.  I'm also curious about the game.  I'm having an okay time with WOW, played EQ2 and many others so I'm experienced in the online games.  Is it good for the casual crowd?

I am a casual player and love Lineage 2. There are people in the lower lvl towns and PvPing can be done at any level(I have PvPed at level 1).

I was thinking about giving it a try as well but was curious if ncsoft charges for each chronicle that comes out.  If this is their expansions how much are they charging for them?

The Chronicles are free. They update the game before you can play. Its a HUGE download.

Well thats a tricky question. All "games" are "casual" unless you do it for a living image I am also a casual player. I play about 5 days out of the week for 2 to 3 hours, give or take. I've been playing L2 about 2 months.

The grind isn't all that bad at lower levels but it does stiffing up as you move into higher levels. I just put a human to lvl 22 in 8 days because I wanted to try a Knight out. My first toon took much longer. I handed the down my weapon and armor from my first toon ( now a lvl 30 Dwarf) but that gear was hard won. I will probably try out an archer next.

You will not be able to cap a toon in 2 months like in WoW. You will not have all the uber gear like in WoW after a few months. The game does not lead you by the nose with quest like in WoW. PvP and Castle sieges have a lasting effect on the persistent world unlike WoWs instanced battlegrounds that reset. Guilds can declare war on one another and make life difficult for each other unlike WoWs safe environment. L2 doesn't require you to be hard core BUT it is a long term game. Plan on playing awhile if you want to get anywhere.

The key to the game is being social. You can solo hunt through the entire game but like any game it would be long and boring. The community is pretty nice. Better then some not as good as others. Like any other social activity, it all depends who you meet up with. People do like to pick on noobs so be careful.

The game is not for people who do not have thick skins. Leveling is lengthy, money is hard to come by and it is open PvP.

personally I rank this game much higher then WoW and most other games out there. I still enjoy WoW as it is a high quality game, its just very unchallenging IMHO.

Thanks Torak. I appreciate the candid description.
  • GreatnessGreatness Member UncommonPosts: 2,188
Just like Torak said, if you would like to hit level cap fast and get amazing stuff quickly, don't try Lineage 2. Lineage 2 takes time to level and gain more items but is for both Casual and Hardcore Players. Everyday I walk around in Lineage 2, I always see PvP, doesn't matter lvl 1 or lvl 75. Plus grouping, grouping can be done at any level and really fun too(especially when you take on Group Bosses, good ol' Soul Scavenger days image). Also like Torak said, being social is very helpful(meaning in PvP, groups, guilds, just plain ol' talking).

I got to 61 in about.....5 months i think, and i twink leveled a warsmith up to 43 as well in about 3 weeks of actually play time. Its not so bad once you get over the first money hump (IE your first B grade toon). Having a good clan helps immensly.

Alot of people have alt Dwarfs to make money but also alot of people ebay because its so hard to get the money to get uber gear or make it and the special areas for good drops are infested with farmers but even though NCSOFT say's they ban them they dont realy because the GMS are payed by the farmers.
They mostly ban americans braeaking the rules and using bots when obvious farmer CLANS yes i said farmer clans farm all the time and turn on and off their bots and are allowd to make farmer clans even though 19999
    people will report them.

So basically you are saying there is an "ingame mafia"? Lol the GM's are payed off by the farmers? LoL, and NCSoft turns a blind eye even though its reported and singles out and discriminates against Americans? Wow, I never noticed that in any NCSoft game before. Maybe its just the devs in Lineage 2 who are part of this "conspiricy"....
I hope you have something to back this statement up (a compromising dev link, thread or something that could somehow substantiate this...beside your  theory. really what you are saying is NCSoft is allowing this and happy to accommodate it.
It sounds unlikely in any case. As far as ebay in concerned....like people in other MMORPGs don't do that?
