I have sampled around to various games since the NGE hit.

Found that Eve online was a wonderfully indepth game with content that is player driven as oppsed to dev driven. It has been a very nice change of pace. Basically you either love it or hate it is what you make of it. Good enough for me though one subscription here.

Tried Dark Age of Camelot ho hum just another mmorpg fantasy type game with one unique twist realm versus realm combat. While that part may be fun getting there defintly was not. Quit long before trial ended.

Gave the free version of Anarchy Online a try. After 25 levels it just felt like Everquest with guns to me. This game was probably very revoultionary in its time, but it is defintly showing its age in combat model, graphics, and many other areas. Its one of those games were you have to group to move forward.

My wife started playing City of Heros about a week ago with her brother to give her something to do when not tending to her tailor business in SWG(its pretty much dead now she is looking forward to Roma Victor so she can perhaps tailor with customers again) I watched over her shoulder for about 2 hours and although the game has zero depth and complexity the combat model looked rather enjoyable and lets face it who hasn't always wanted to be a hero? Bit the bullet and bought a copy(no trial). I have played this game for about 12 hours now and so far it has not lost its enjoyment factor. I must say this is one of the most balanced grouping games I have ever played. Each class does its part to promote the whole much better than SWG ever did. This is defintly a casual game if I played this more than an hour or two a day I think I would burn out quickly. However I just got it to have something to play with the wife since we both hate the console like combat system of the NGE. For now another subscrition here.

In my honest opinion, the two games to watch in the upcoming year are Tabula Rasa and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

Both have very skilled dev teams working on them, with Vanguard under the lead of Brad McQuaid who pioneered graphical MMOs with his work on Everquest 1 and Tabula Rasa under the direct supervision of Lord British himself image.

Personally, im planning to try both but Vanguard seems more up my alley as nothing would thrill me more than a very well done high fantasy MMORPG. I long for the days when EQ1 held me in thrall...

    *wistful sigh*

Oh yeah.. I have high hopes for Tabula Rasa.

Would be kind of a dry-run for if NC Soft made SWG2. ::::34::

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled :( - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

Remember I said this....not gonna happen. But yes Tabula Rasa will be freakin sweet, I pray it comes out on time. Once Vanguard comes out that's it, all other games over.

also i try to lean towards NCSoft games because they have awesome customer service and from what ive experienced their games are pretty much bugless except when ppl find exploits but they fix them asap

NCSoft's Customer Sercvice is the absolute best I've ever seen. I've played a lot of games, and have never been so impressed with customer service in my life. Other companies could learn a lot from them.

While you are correct their games do lack a lot of bugs, that comes from most of thier games lacking substance. I mean consider LinageII or CoH, neither are very ground breaking and are actually quite simple. This is the trade off.

pretty true i guess ive never played Lineage II or CoH/V but Guildwars was very simple compared to what im used to they didnt even put in a real crafting system i really love the graphics tho :D

Personally I tried WoW shortly after NGE, then bounced to DAoC and was quickly reminded why I quit both of those games.

Then, Me and the whole core of my old SWG guild moved to Lineage 2.  As far as Im concerned its a huge step down from Pre-CU SWG, but its a step up from the current SWG.  Id play Eve if I had a player avatar that could wander around space stations, or AO if it had a decent crafting system.

I actually dont like much about L2, the economy sucks, skills are eh...ok I guess.  Its level based with a brutal grind unless you have top grade gear, and even then its like 10000000 even level mobs to level.  Fastest is with a group.  The social structure of the game is pretty cool, guilds are complex and have meaning, there are castle sieges but they are few and far between Epic battles between uber alliances.  Theres no housing, you can bid on a guild hall but theres like 3 of em and cost more than a new porche.  There are pets but they perma die unless rezzed and cost crazy money to feed (dragon) as you level.

In short L2 has just about nothing I enjoy in an MMO game except exploration, good graphics, and my friends.
