i am kind of confused here, i believe that the question before the poll was which costs more, ffxi or Wow. well, wow is more a month it is 14.95, while ffxi sits firmly at 12.95.
as far as which game is better, i would personally say ffxi hands down. i had left wow after about 3 months, becuase i felt that it is was boring and kidish, i played ffxi for about a year and a half before reluctantly putting it down, and last week i decided that, after a few crappy random mmo, i would pick it up again,
ive tried eq2, eve online, guild wars, lineage 2 and about 3 more. playing wow right now and its really fun, though i miss ffxi too since they are too different games and deliver different kind of reward.
wow is really fun and doesnt require tons of time
ffxi is really fun and maybe even more fun in a different way since i love to do stuff with partys, but it does require tons of time (luckily i have tons of time ^^ )
theres also the big economy problem in ffxi right now also, though i quit for about 6 months ago i remember hades already had problems before the other servers so im used to that, maybe its gone worse but i usualy farmed stuff myself, so sure its still a problem but nothing impossible to tackle.

I more than agee with you, I thought the same with WoW. I ended up quitting after less than 1 month.
