Eve has good graphics (although you can argue that they are good because they didn't have to spend time creating a world), it's very innovative, has an excellent background, and the immersion is great. You can have a lot of fun when playing with a player corporation, although it can be very boring for some people, this game is special in the sense that it has no intermediate level, it can be incredible fun or incredible boring. I think they deserve their ranking.
EVE deserves its ranking. Just because you may not ENJOY the game doesn't mean that the qualities it's rated on aren't accurate. The only thing you can knock eve on is "Value" and "Fun" because they're related. Every other aspect of the game is top notch.. Which is why it's highly rated. Their customer suport is first class. Community is excellent. Roleplaying is very good. Graphics and sound are top notch. Performance is awesome.
As I said, the only area you can knock them is "fun" or "value" if you don't think it's worth the price or you find it boring, or both.
Other games that have lower ratings get knocked for things like 'lag'. Bad customer service. Poor Graphics. etc. Which is why they're lower.
IE: WoW: Poor customer service, and some folks don't like it so it gets hit on value, customer support and 'fun'. And some folks hate the graphics too, so it sometimes takes a hit there. Thus it's lower rated than eVE.
Please drive along.

That's probably because only 3 people voted, besides, no ones listening to you since your pretty much an anti-eve fanboi, sorry but you proved that in your last topic which was utterly toppled.
A pretty worthless thread in which the OP has giving no standing arguments or Points of view, 1/10.
I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.
Eve doesn't deserve to be number 1 on the charts. The game isn't boring, it just has no content. The first 14 days are fun as hell, that's why the trial is 14 days long cause if it was a month less people would dish out the monthly fee. For a game that is so immense with so much potential it really blows. Who feels like doing the same repetitive missions. You gotta be some kinda anti social basement dweller to play this on a daily basis for 2 years. Mining , agent missions, more mining, more agent missions wohooo! I'm fed up of these no content games. Devs are to lazy to add content, so they come up with a stupid leveling system so they can milk you for 20 bucks a month for 2 years so you can buy a big ship and go kill other ships with crazy server lag, give me a break. Wow should be a 10.0, not 8.3 and in 2nd place. These charts blow. Sure many of you like to put down Wow, It's carebar, its easy, bla bla bla. Meanwhile Blizz always adds new content , new patches evertime I check the site. The game already has content coming out of it's ass and they add even more. Blizzard is a company that cares about their customers. They release one game every few years but you can be damn certain it will be the best, it will have no bugs and it'll be fun. Another thing people fail to mention. BUGS! I tried EVE, EQ2, AO, etc.. Every one of these games are full of lag, bugs (especially EQ2). Only WOW runs smooth as butter. 40 man raids with no even one hint of lag on semi populated Lhane server where I played for 5 months.
what makes a great game:
1.No LAG
2.Shitload of Content
3.Smooth Engine/Graphics
4.Great Gameplay
5.Few Bugs out of the bag
6.Big Community
7.Frequent patches, updates
I'll give Eve the smooth engine, geat game play, and big community. that's it. 3 out of 7 = 42%= sucks
I have little to say on this matter, but look what Mr.Tim Buckley has to say:
You know those days, the ones where you wake up with a list of things you want to accomplish, thinking to yourself how you'll be super-productive that day? And then you sit down to do something intending only to do it for an hour or so, and you wind up wasting the whole day on it? Yeah, yesterday was one of those days.
Fortunately I didn't go it alone, as I was able to trick some sucker-- erm, I mean, a friend of mine, into wasting the day as well. I find that if you're going to be lazy, it helps ease the guilt if you make someone else be lazy as well.
What I sunk my whole day into yesterday was EVE which I've been trying the free trial for. I am very intrigued, and I'm not even sure why yet. The game isn't quite as graphically flashy or intensive as maybe some other games are, but perhaps that's part of the appeal for me.
But one thing is for certain. I have never played an MMO with a deeper, more complex gameplay system. It's so complicated, in fact, that the tutorial takes like half a day to complete. I actually completed it over the course of three days. It's very, very easy to become overwhelmed the instant your ship launches.
I imagine the prospect of captaining your own ship out into the vast reaches of space to carve out a niche for yourself in the galactic struggle for dominance would appeal to just about any man. Even though you never get out and walk around on foot in EVE, you still get to create a unique character portrait. And then you're set loose with your newbie frigate to do what you can do.
Want to be a space pirate? Go for it. Focus on the necessary skills to get yourself an assault ship. Save of some credits and purchase and outfit your new rig and then head to the fringes of lawful space where you can be a highwayman on the many spacelanes of the galaxy, threatening and extorting cargo haulers and convoys. "Jettison your cargo or be destroyed".
Hate pirates? Make your living as a bounty hunter, tracking down space pirates who have become a little bit too greedy.
Want to be rich and build your own space stations? Become a miner or a tradesman. Save up for a ship with a large cargo hold and outfit her with the best mining lasers and drones, so you can go harvest the precious minerals found in the asteroid belts around the galaxy. Hire gunships as escorts, or upgrade your thrusters to outrun pirates.
There are no "classes" really. You don't choose "Space Pirate". You just create your character to be an offensive fighter, and live the life of a pirate. Your character is what you make it.
I've got about a week left of my free-trial, and I'm still on the fence about whether or not I'll become a full-time subscriber, but at the moment I am definitely enjoying the game. I can see how it wouldn't be a game for everyone, though. If you care about "phat lewt" and "pwning noobs", it's not for you. You could do that quicker in Warcraft. Given EVE's skill system, it would take an estimated 3 years to reach the equivelant of L60.
If you prefer simple, straightforward gameplay, a sort of "go here and do this and have fun" system, also probably not for you. EVE is more open ended. You have to make the choice for your style of play, and then how to best act it out.

An easy mistake to make Signe, an easy mistake.
From Wikipedia:
Tim Buckley is a webcomic artist noted for the Ctrl+Alt+Del webcomic.
Tim Buckley's first webcomic was started in September 2002, which he launched on October 23, 2002. At that time he knew almost nothing about webcomics. Though the art was unshaded and basic, over 2 years it has grown in quality and popularity. Buckley gradually gained fame over time, completely from word of mouth. What started with a humble beginning soon took shape; as it was doing so, so did Tim's reputation as an outstanding figure in the webcomic world.
The first few webcomics Buckley created were actually references to others. For example, strip two (Bad call) referenced Little Gamers by Christian Fundin, while strip three (Foiled again) referenced PvP by Scott Kurtz.
By 2003, Buckley's webcomic had gained him such notoriety that he was attending comic and gaming conventions as a guest and sometimes holding tables. Buckley started attending conventions such as ConnectiCon, Otakon, Nekocon, Katsucon, Ubercon and even E³ 2005.
Perhaps one of Buckley's biggest accomplishments is helping to save ConnectiCon which in 2005 had come into major financial troubles. Buckley, along with other webcomic artists, helped to raise the funds needed to save ConnectiCon and to ensure that webcomics would have a convention in the future
