Yes you've stated why you didn't like the game, but never answered the question. I also haven't flamed you. I simply went point by point on how you never answered the question.

ugh fine lets sum it up then and answer this question, like i already stated a hundred times in other posts, but once again ill repeat.

Well the Trial of the ISLE IS Deceptive Because: It has abnormal Soloability than the main game, and has a faster game play on the island, than within the real game. Its easier to find groups, cause everyone is on an island, alot harder when in main game, and have to search zones over for people. Instances are used minimal while on the island yet off the island the game is packed full of nothing but zone after zone instance after instance.

The trial of the isle only allows a player to reach about lvl 6 or so, and sony did well on the tutorial of the island, cause about 85% of my gaming friends including myself ENJOYED the isle very much the first time we did it. Well anyways here comes the deceptive part, it may only take maybe an hour and a half to get to lvl 6 on the island for a newbie. Now then that newbie per say, or future customer of SOE thinks wow, this is as fun paced and packed like WoW. So they subscribe, and then only to find, that the game is alot harder than WoW. Takes alot more time to Level up, and is not geared for the casual casual gamer, WoW goes after. It takes a few days to level not a few hours in EverQuest 2. Thats the most deceptive part about it, while on the island leveling is a breeze like WoW and the quests are simplistic, just like WoW. to bottomline everything up, just read my other posts in this thread, but here is the main clause right here.

EVERQUEST 2's Trial of the Isle IS DECEPTIVE Because its Trying to draw in more people by making it look like WoW's Gameplay with Better graphics and more content. When it has neither.

This just isn't true. You can solo just as well on the mainland. The problem is you want to kill one easy mob in 4 and 1/2 second and go from level 20 to 65 from that one mob. Nope, not gonna happen, but you can solo just as easily on the mainland.
and has a faster game play on the island, than within the real game.
How is the game play faster? Combat somehow changes on the mainland?
Its easier to find groups, cause everyone is on an island, alot harder when in main game, and have to search zones over for people.
Yes and on the island everyone is with 3 levels of each other. "Easier" is a relative term, I've never had any problems getting a group on the mainland, but this isn't deceptive, anyone with half a brain is going to realize that once they get to the mainland, everyone isn't going to be within 3 levels of them.
Instances are used minimal while on the island yet off the island the game is packed full of nothing but zone after zone instance after instance.
Once you get out of the cities, there are very few zones. I would say it is VERY comparitve to the island.

Your sense of time is WAY off. I've been playing EQ2 since release, and been all the way though the isle probably 15 times, and I can't even do it in 90 minutes. But again it EVERY MMO out there, it takes MUCH less time to go from level 3 to 4 than it does going from level 45-46.

I'm not going to bother disputing whether EQ2 has more content than WoW, I believe it does, I believe the content EQ2 does have is more engaging, and I can prove EQ2 has added more free content than WoW has in the year it's been out, but all of that isn't really relevant. It's obvious your big problem with the game is you want leveling to be quick and easy.

no..... i want leveling to be fun and challenging and i want them to make a game that every lvl 60 monk isnt like everyother lvl 60 monk, i would like INDIVUALITY!!!!.

But soe does not offer that.

So yeah. Have fun in cookie cutterville, im done posting on this. After pages of typing its finnaly out of my system. =p

An AA system would be a great way to save this sinking flagship for SoE. Im sure they will throw out the life preservers and implement this soon, in a grand 4.95 adventure pack, of somesort.

Jodokai was right though Munk, you can solo just as easily in the actual game, just have to know where to look, which isn't very hard. Howerver they do offer a TON of mobs you can't solo, and also bosses that you have to raid for those people who enjoy that, which is me when I have lots of time, which seems like it was in another life at this point.

Bottom line is EQ2 is really an awesome game, and if you're currently playing WoW then you have just given up on MMORPG's anyway so it doesn't really matter what you think about EQ2.

where is this non sense of me playing wow? i dont play wow, my Girlfriend plays wow as training for vanguard =p

But no its not a great game, its a medocre run of the mill game, a little something for everyone, and fact of the world is you cant please everyone, i just happen to be on of the unpleased. Along with countless tens of thousands who also canceled their accounts out of the outrage of waiting 2 years for it to hopefully become that game everyone is waiting for, but sadly enough Vanguard will be out before then, simply, whipping this game into the ground.

You will have lots of waiting to do then, a 2007 release is more than likely, because if S**** releases a certain piece of software, that i wont mention the name, in the next 6-8 months... it will be the biggest flop that the mmorpg industry has ever witnessed. Let me just ilustrate a point, there were alot of ppl invited for a certain beta, and only 20-50 ppl currently play the game on a regular basis, the rest have givin up till more content and a complete combat overhall is done.

All ur Mountain Dew is belong to me.

Umm, thought you were done with this thread? I knew you couldn't stay out of it.image

And I'm glad to hear you don't play WoW. Doing something that crazy will get you barred from Vanguard. I'll tell Brad on you!

Anyways, it IS a great game and a lot of fun too. And no, you can't please everyone all of the time.

And Kem0, I am telling Brad on you, too! You broke the NDA!image

FYI To anyone still interested.....the whole "Isle tutorial" is going bye bye shortly. Each race will have it's own tutorial and you won't be locked out of any areas or have to do the citizenship tasks to zone to other parts of the city. You will also start as your final class like Shadowknight from level 1.

The Isle was not deceptive to new players as you were not stuck there. I think at level 3 you could leave if you wanted maybe sooner.

Stark is right.  I have been playing on the Test server for awhile now and the Isle is getting a complete makeover.  It has changed the entire game for me.  Being able to start as an Assassin with Dual dirks, or a Monk right from the start is Amazing.  Its like they took all the things I hated about EQ2 and fixed them.  I have played 5 classes up to level 6 on the island and each one is great.  I think the Freeport island is closer to being ready to go live... the Qeynos island has a few broken quests still.  They are very different too, on the Freeport island you are killing Tunarians and on the Qeynos island you are figuring out why some Goblins became corrupted, etc.  Basically I think the whole island quests make much more sense that they used to.

This discussion is pretty mute about the island being deceptive.  I have been playing EQ2 off and on for about a year now, and I just never made it very far to comment about the game at levls 20+... i just got bored with the <20 game too quickly.  You guys should play on the test server Islands a bit and then comment about whether the NEW islands are deceptive or closer to the rest of EQ2. I am hoping with the upcoming changes and the expansion that the rest will be like the new Islands... cause they are excellent.

No shit? That sounds awesome and thanks for the update, like I said before this game just gets better and better!

yes the island is allready completely changed on testserver with classseledction from lvl 1 on for some weeks now and it si really fun but still needs some balancing (some classes like rangers and monks are soloing really great on island and others like illusionist are nearly impossible to play solo on island now).

Also the new revamped dungeons are much better loot than they were before (nameds are dropping legendary items quite often and even master spells and fableds are droping often enough).

Also nearly all t6 Raids are bigger zones so you end up with multple master chests per raid. The mainproblem i have with these raidzones is that nearly all encounters are the same style. A tank tanks all, healers heal tank and all others try to avoid aoe, the possible resists on taunts make it a bit more interesting but something that needs more startegy and thinking than just the standard tactics would be more interesting.

besides that i noticed one thing that is really strange for me a lot people that are complainig about soloability of eq2 are also posting that they are waiting for vanguard. if you read the faq on vanguard on the official site vanguard will be much more hardcore and group oriented than eq2 is atm (maybe even more group oriented than eq2 was at start), all opinnoons i heared from betatesters are also telling it is nearly impossible to lvl even in the early lvls without a group. Don't get me wrong i am also interested in vanguard and will definitely try it out when it comes out but i don't expect that i will be able to do much solo in that game.
