Against my better judgement, knowing the horrors of a MMOG launch, I purchased Horizons last night. I definitely experienced most of the account setup and server login/authentication horrors. It was pretty bad, getting worthless error messages and even some scary ones (there was a period of time that the servers replied to all users with "your IP address is blocked", which doesn't sound good).
But after the dust settled and I was able to finally log in with a new character, I have to say the game performed admirably well. There was very little internet lag, very little video lag (presuming I didn't try to amp out the graphics on my modest Ti640 ADM2.1 1GBRAM machine), and very few noticeable bugs. By the same token, I can definitely see how people were complaining about the rather bland nature of encounters. There isn't much variety, and there seems to be a bit of a linear approach to what you should be attacking, with maybe 1 or 2 variations on mob type.
I haven't had enough time to provide any kind of a solid review yet, as I've barely scratched the surface with character development, exploration, and testing the limits of the game. But I have to say the underlying game has a TON of promise. They'll very likely go through months of tweaks, nerfs, and class balancing...every MMOG does...but I think they've got a very solid foundation to work on. I'll post my thoughts on the game after a month when I've had a chance to really get my fingers into it.
I really was on the line on whether to buy this now or wait a few months for the dust to settle. I definitely would say to others it may be worth a bit of wait while Artifact deals with the crush of players trying to enter the game. But from what I can see the game itself if pretty solid.

I traded a little stability for the chance to get in on the action in the early going. I'm a bit too much of a MMOG junkie to let the chance go by
I figured that if I could suffer through the AO release, I could probably get through this one. So far, minus yesterday's login problems, the game has performed admirably well. I left one of my characters logged in all night last night. I was amazed to come on this morning and see he was still in the world.

ianubisi thank you for your first impression, I'd like to encourage others to do the same.
What do you think sets Hz apart from all the MMORPG's on the market?
