Also being female, I'd recommend Ryzom for now, but that sometimes feels like a ghost town. EQ2 may be fun for you, and I doubt you want the treadmill that is EQ1 though. Seed should be fun in the future, but why not just try out betas for now?
Originally posted by Riverstar Being female and having played pretty much every game out there including WoW and SWG (which was a great came pre-cu but now is not worth playing), I recommend EQ2. I am on the Antonica Bayle server which is a roleplaying preferred server but is very populated. There are plenty of females that play on this server, and it has kept me interested far more then WoW ever did, especially now that I am almost at lvl. cap. EQ2 has a trial you can try (though soon the trial of the isle will be revamped when you can start out as the class you want to be instead of having to choose scout, then rogue at 10 then brigand at lvl. 20). If Eq2 isn't your cup of tea, I would say DAOC, the classic servers there are nicely populated and it is a very fun game, though the pve in EQ2 is more interesting then having to slog through the pve in daoc. Good luck with whatever you choose

on that note, there are a lot of games like DaoC and SWG, even EQ2 which are known to have dead servers. Dont base your game experience on other peoples experience, and dont let dead servers scare you away. If you chose a populated server, you will have a populated community to enjoy the game with. Just because someone on server X lives in a ghost town, doesnt mean you need to
I guess what im saying, is that a game is only as dead as its most full server. dont judge based on the amount of servers and how many of those are full. Look at Eve, there arent that many subscribers over all..but theyre all on 1 server so theres a healthy community.

Carebear has a point. Maybe one of the reasons I found Ryzom boring was because it was so underpopulated. It definitely has some clever bits in it. Picking an RP server is also a good idea. Although I'm not heavily into RP, I was a bit disappointed when the guild I'm usually in didn't choose an RP server. I find the people are usually friendlier, more mature and have triple digit IQs, for the most part.
Originally posted by **CrAzY** If you like character building try out Horizons. - There are various types of character and all can be customised to your taste. - There are over 50 schools which is good because if u create a char and join a certain school, then find you don't like that school you can just join a different school and learn that instead of makin a new char [schools = melee, magic etc] - Crafting [a school] enables you to build your own house [for storage] build armour, weapons, accessories etc. You can make for yourself or make and sell. - The community numbers have fallen a bit but people are friendly and helpful, more than any game i've played. 14 free days, give it a go i say.
community numbers ahve fallen a bit? i tried it out a few months ago over a weekend and i saw 1 person the whole time i played.
(Disclaimer: RIGHT NOW, I am taking a break from MMOs. I just went back to college, and I know I wouldn't do my homework if I could play online instead. But I was playing right up into December.)
I've tried just about everything at one time or another. I find myself bouncing back and forth between EQ1 and WoW. EQ keeps putting goals in front of me, and like a trained lab rat, I just keep running the maze. And when I get stuck, I play a different character-- the class/race selection is pretty diverse. I like WoW for short session playing, and that's the game I just don't take seriously-- I get on, talk to guildies, do a few quests, and don't worry too much about it.
I really liked SWG as well, as a game, but I quit due to other issues. I don't have a great graphics card, so both SWG and EQ2 make me nauseous to the point that I really can't play either of those. If anyone has some setting recommendations that would fix that, I'd probably play SWG again.
I liked AO as well, and you can give that a try for free. DAoC was good, and I do understand why people like it, but it is not my cup of tea.

bleh, only girls I know that play games play WoW, so I cant really reccomend any other games for you. I know my girlfriend got obsessed with WoW for a while. I would reccomend EQ2 too tho, if you dont mind too much of a grind, you might be able to enjoy it.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

Maybe THIS site will help you with EQ2. I'm pretty sure I found it on this board but I can't remember who or where it was. Thank you, whoever you are.
