Everyone always argued me when I said it was nowhere near as full as it was when I started playing over a year ago.
Hardly a surprise. It's typical for concurrency rates to drop over time for MMOs. When they're new many people are playing at any given time. As the game matures concurrency rates generally drop.

That isn't a list of 600 zones. That is a list of all the instances.
Hmmm, maybe they should count everyone's apartment or house too as a zone! Ya! hell they could have THOUSANDS more zones then!
Afterall, that is hardly a stretch from what they are already doing.

Originally posted by anarchyart And to save posts I'll respond to the "List the 600" zones post. Are you now reaching so far as to just doubt the fact that EQ2 has over 600 zones post DoF? Find them yourself, I got that figure from one of the links in this thread. Let's say it's 400 zones, no let's say it's 200. On the average server, that is still spreading out the population pretty thin. And I am sure it's more like 600 zones with all the adventure packs and expansion pack.
Oh ya, so thin that somehow magically after all the pains in beta SOE has somehow figured out how to exceed the concurrent connection caps on their servers so they can do server merges on this massively growing game. Makes total sense to me AA.
If you are gonna debate something try using something other then SOE's marketting hype as your defense.

I see that the counted all those tiny insignificant intances as zones, including the tradeskill instances, the player housing, the class change instances.
Its just like when DoF was launched, saying that it had 5 overland zones when it only had 4, saying that it had x ammount of raid zones, when most of them were an instance with a single room and a raid boss, as you can see, this is not the first time SOE´S PR department spins things to the point where theres little to no truth in them.
Oh and by way, counting many canceled acounts and station acess acount as beeing part of the overall EQ2 subscriber numbers, thats some more PR spin for you, EQ2´s active subscriber numbers are prolly much lower than the 300k+ numbers that are going around, considering a server is labeled heavy if it reaches the number of 2500 people, you all do the math. Remmenber, SOE has stated more than once that the EQ2 servers cant hande much more than 2500 people online at the same time.

An instance is a ZONE!!
Errrrr, no. An instance is a copy of a zone with slightly altered parameters such as different mobs. A zone is the digital representation of an actual region of land or space.

Exactly, every instance theya re counting as zones. No wonder that number has alwasy been so insanely high.
Oh and they must handle more then 2500 now! AA says the servers are booming with new people and they are still gonna merge them anyways so it MUST handle more then that now.

No matter SOE's motivation and how they want to word it and how the community sees it, the point is they took a proactive step to fix a potential problem before it arises; therefore to not be reactive to the situation. Considering most companies are reactive, I applaud their move.
They didn't fix a potential problem. Many of the servers were already ghost towns. You can debate whether or not it was reactive or proactive all you want.
Oh and as far as the "zone" versus "instance" debate goes: In EQ2, when zones are counted they may count instances but I deem a zone to by its content.
It's all mincing words. When the Lost Dungeons expansion was released for EQ, it was billed as having X number of zones, when in fact it was multiple static 'layouts' of the same dungeon. They counted each seperate layout as a seperate zone. As far as I was concerned, they all were the same thing.

You know what thats fine, go ahead and brag on the HUGENESS of Eq2, theres still NOThing new to any of the zones, except for mob Decals, and names of nodes.... and access to more instances, but the line just kinda stops there. Anyone playign this game for the Long Haul, and not as the "mehh its out and i dont like WoW, typical player of Eq2, you are by far the most lost souls in the mmo industry.
Fact is i cant wait to see this thing bottom out when the newer games are released. Lol not even i nthe top 5 let me get this out of my system... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Lol they actually convinced some people they are making server merges for good reasons hahahahahahahahahaha worse part is the people that were tricked are defending the people who are lying to them hahahahahaha, ok im done venting, just couldnt stand looking at 7 posts of nothing but zone listings? how worthless...
i smoke boulders as buig as your shoulders dog =p muhar har har =p, and they are not on the homepage. FINAL FANTASY YEAH YOU KNOW THAT GAME THAT BOMBED. yeah that game is beating EverQuest 2 on ratings... BY PLAYERS...
That isn't a list of 600 zones. That is a list of all the instances.
Hmmm, maybe they should count everyone's apartment or house too as a zone! Ya! hell they could have THOUSANDS more zones then!
Afterall, that is hardly a stretch from what they are already doing.

An instance is a ZONE!!
For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson
All ur Mountain Dew is belong to me.
