Greetings :) How sweet of you to do this! i must say :)

Just got two questions, i haven't read anything about the "control" of your avatar.
Will you be able to move faster at long run in the game? (running faster, swining your sword or reloading your arrows then at the start)
Jump high, swim fast maybe even fly? ( Big fan of some Ninja movies/anime, if you haven't figured that out)

I also would like to know some things about the PVP options, if there is pvp :) (player versus player)

Thanks for your time!! Great work btw with the game so far! ::::28::

I will play and love the game regardless but fat and ugly people tend to make a game even more realistic and allow for many roleplaying opportunities.

Although, I haven't seen any fat people (no idea if this is in the works or not) but I have seen my fair share of 'ugly' people. In fact I've caught myself looking at a character and wondering if the 'human' was infact a human or perhaps some mutant Ukar or something. ::shudder::

If you've seen the E3 demo video that is floating upon the waves of the net then you've probably seen a few ninjaesque maneuvers.

As far as PvP goes... there will be PvP in Hero's Journey. The details are still a closely guarded secret. image

    Greetings!

I am GameMaster Puzzle. I worked as a GameMaster for Simutronics in the past (GSIII, DragonRealms, Alliance) and I very recently managed to sneak back into the staff lists when no one was looking.

I am currently assigned to the Development Team, helping out with the NPC Conversations and Shops... the perfect assignment, talking, shopping... what more could you ask for? (Ok, maybe a bit of player death and dismemberment, but I'm sure I'll get a chance to do that eventually as well!)

The game world is beautiful, sounds good too. You are gonna love it, I already do.  I hope to see everyone there!

I was curious if this game would include written scrolls like Asherons Call. Its odd some games dont inclue it.. Anycase I used to right handguides and fashion maps back in the day for newer players. A great way to make a buck hehe. Not to mention a awesome way to recruit players to events and guilds. Something about getting a invitation on paper screams OFFICAL!

Hey all you GMs, how many of you hadn't played any Simutronics games before being hired?

I was playing Gemstone back when it was on AOL and Prodigy.  I even dabbled in Dragonrealms once in a while.

I myself have never played any of the Simutronics games in the past, so I'm coming into the fold with very little information as to the historical roots (from GS and DR). The folks at Simutronics are providing excellent material; history and background, that we use to give a flavor to what we're doing.

My background is more on the graphical MMORPGs (everQuest, Dark Ages of Camelot, World of Warcraft to name a few), as well as designing some small online games and a NWN game sever.

I must admit, I'm having a grand time working on Hero's Journey. So much to do, so much to learm

My name is Andy Finkenstadt, and I play a Hero's Journey GM on TV.

Actually I'm a behind-the-scenes guy, writing tools and features for the tools, and fixing features to have fewer bugs, and supporting our cast of GMs.

could you more explain what it is that you do Andy, and tell us your background and what you did to get into the industry.  Like what kind of education you have to have and what the requirements of the company are before people are even considered.  Also what type of chode is behing this game, mainly??

I was intentionally vague as to what I do, as it's quite lengthy.

I've been with Simutronics for 9+ years. Over that time I've worked on the billing system, the web site, the forums, the log system, the databases, the signup system, the new signup system, the new new signup system, oh yes, and the new NEW new signup system, the email system, the network security, PC security, simucon stuff, GemStone IV stuff, DragonRealms stuff, Cyberstrike 2 stuff, and I haven't even started with the things I've done on Hero's Journey.

I've touched nearly every line of HJ code, as I was working from home two summers ago (a broken ankle with complications), unscrambling a tangled mess of include files for faster compilation. I've contributed to bug fixes and features. It really doesn't matter, as we use a programming methodology where we all "own the code". Sure, some are more expert at sections of the codebase than others, but we are all authorized to make changes. Our source control system keeps it all straight.

To work for simutronics (in-house) you pretty much have to be at the top of your game. Evidence of brilliance in your field is probably primary, along with working as a team player with the development team. We write most of our code in C++, or whatever tool is needed to do the job. (Recently I've been writing search-and-replace parsers in perl regexes and in php, what joy, what fun.)

The game itself is written in HSL (Heroscript Scripting Language), our own language of our own design. Coding GMs use HSL to write the systems that World Design GMs use to implement the world and Game Design GMs use to implement the game, which Customer Service GMs use to run the events in the world that players use to enjoy their time in the world.

    Hope that helps.
