has anyone else seen this? its basically a video filmed in 2004 of some british troops beating the living daylights out of a few iraqi teenagers. now... the reason they were beating them to a pulp was because the kids were involved in a riot in which they had been stoning a compound.
whats everyones view on this? personally i think its stupid to even be questioning it. at the end of the day the kids were out of line and breaking the law, and quite rightly should have been beaten. britain is turning into more and more of a soft-touch nation, and it sickens me to see left-wing tabloids whinging about the abuse of criminals in a country we're trying to protect.

Thats like hitting a kid for fighting and saying "Hey! We dont hit people!" and spanking him/her.
I hope the military justice system comes down very hard on these guys. Stuff like this is so damaging to what is trying to be achieved out there, it puts other soldiers lives at risk from reprisals.
This is a joke right? I really really hope this is a joke.
Because if it isn't you need help. Supporting beating of teenagers is just f..... This is not how justice works. This is not humane. I'm in lack of words . That we still have people like this in the western world
So if you happen to be accused of stealing something, you expect the police to beat you into a bloody mess?
And this is nothing new. I believe I saw about this on the news, around the time they revealed how the Americans tortured prisoners.
Thats just the most idiotic thing I have read. I for one do belive in the justice system and they should be punished for what they did. But beating them is sinking to there level and showing bad judgment and giving out a mixed message.
Thats like hitting a kid for fighting and saying "Hey! We dont hit people!" and spanking him/her.
i had a feeling people on here might be rediculously over-lefty. right, lets start.
lefties, and people that honestly beleive that criminals should be 'rehabilitated' and wars dont 'need' to happen are unfortunatly living in an absolute dream world. this is a fact. the extremely worrying thing is that people of my generation seem to be reverting back to the 1970's hippy movement, whereby they want peace not war, love not hate bla bla bla. saying the world SHOULD be peaceful, people SHOULD love and not hate is just being blind to the way society has worked for thousands of years.
humans are not by any means above violence, to think we are is to think we are more than animals, which of course scientifically we are not. we simply have an over-inflated ego which makes us assume we're doing the 'right' thing by acting as humane and passive as possible.
people like the guys that just posted on this thread before me are the kind of people that damage the world. anti-war protesters honestly make me sick, they're understanding for the modern world and the way things work is comparable to that of an ant.
criminals SHOULD be beaten, SHOULD be executed, and SHOULD be taught harshly what is right, and what is wrong. IF we revert to this hippy state that everyone seems to want to we get people taking huge advantage of us, look at the state of britain at the moment.. we just jailed Abu Hamza, a known al-queida cleric who has been preaching anti-western slander since 1997 in BRITAIN for god sake, and how do we punish him? jail for 7 years, 2 years if he behaves himself.
will this teach him? will he honestly come out of prison a reformed man? a man that isnt going to continue his war against the western world?
another example is that of a man that murdered a woman in london, this man was let out on bale after robbing someones house, and proceeded to murder an innocent person. do you honestly think that was the right thing to do? do you honestly think this man shouldnt have been beaten, locked up and possible even executed?
DONT BE SOFT WITH CRIMINALS! they wont be soft back for christ sake! saying that you can 'rise above' them and treat them as humans is bloody outragous, if someone commits ANY kind of crime they instantly lose what human rights they may have had, and are then subject to any treatment the law see's fit!
you can bet the teenagers that got beaten up in iraq will think twice before they throw stones at british forces again, as will people that know them. if british forces had turned the other cheek and let them continue to throw stones and get away with it, how do you think they would see the british forces? as pussies, thats correct.
and about the point of spanking kids, for christ sake SPANK THE DAYLIGHTS OUT OF THEM! children in britain (i dont know about other countries) are WELL out of control, and the soul reason is a ban on smacking children. a child has a very impressionable mind, and CANNOT learn without simple, basic association techniques. IF they associate being bad with pain, they will over time learn NOT to do it! i was hit as a child and i'm very glad for it, i've grown into a well adjusted individual with a decent outlook on the world. more than i can say for the teenagers hanging around street corners mugging elderly people in my town.

we are trying to achieve peace in iraq, yes. how can peace be acheived if we arent allowed to punish people that disturb the peace?! its a cycle, if you cant punish them they WILL continue. dont forget, the majority of people in iraq HATE the western world with an almighty passion! telling them nicely to stop throwing stones isnt going to get through to them now, is it?
by the way, i AM actually against the war on iraq, i know it may not sound like it... but as i mentioned earlier, some wars NEED to happen but i do beleive there was no good reason for this war to ever have happened. however, that said, i think as we are now there and we've screwed up iraq this much, we should stay there and try at least to straighten it out as well as possible, by restoring law and order to the streets.
You sound like a extremist. You didn't happen to beat up some immigrants the last days, or bomb some abortion clinics?
Come on dude. Get some common sence into your head. Punishing criminals by beating them it shitty pools of blood doesn't help. Specially not on children (Sick that you even support this). I suggest you take a look at the human rights:
http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html
You are actually supporting behavior that is illegal by the international human rights.
I didn't read it but shit happens.
America did that naked thing first and now British troops are at it :
They just let their country down tbh

You said it was stupid to question that Uk soldier beat the living daylight out of iraqi youth. And no you don't have to slap children around to teach the something. My parents taught me everything fine without beating me a single time.
Human rights, like the name says, apply to all humans. Nothing more to say really. The ability to respect the rights of another human is for me what keeps us civilized. It's one of the things that make us something more than a monkey walking around with a club.
I find it rare for a person to be straight without dicipline. I don't even know if I can beleive you (depends on your age), but a parent today really can't do that and EXPECT to suceed.
As to the OP, why would you support people getting the living daylights beaten out of them becuase they started a riot? That beating is a crime. Just like when black guy (can't remember the name...rodney king? I could be wrong) got beaten to a pulp by over 3 police officers (and the helicopter got footage) becuase he was speeding.
What in sam hell is wrong with you?

I didn't say my parents didn't punish me if I did something wrong. I just said that they never hit me. I was punished by not being allowed to watch my favourite tv show, grounded and stuff like that. You don't have to hit children to learn them something was my point. Beating a child or punishing one are 2 very different things.

If they hate the western world with a passion, I don't think beating their teenagers is going to be changing their mind any time soon.

Im 17 and NEVER was hit/spanked/beaten and I am proud to say im a respected individual by my family, friends, and school (yes my teachers liked me as a person not just a student).
Spanking demonstrates that it's all right for people to hit people, and especially for big people to hit little people, and stronger people to hit weaker people. Children learn that when you have a problem you solve it with a good swat. A child whose behavior is controlled by spanking is likely to carry on this mode of interaction into other relationships with siblings and peers, and eventually a spouse and offspring.

Exactly we would just be sending the wrong message and setting a bad example.

Actually wouldn't beating the teenagers make them hate us more? Then they would go back and bring more friends and then other people would see their teenagers getting beaten and they would get pissed.
Basically whats going on in Iraq right now, except its not just teenagers. Anyways its stupid to try and put a democracy in there because its not going to work.
Sure we got saddam but thats the best we can do.

It's so sad that there are still people who think like this despite the innumerable psychological studies that prove the exact contrary. I was never hit as a child, sure I'm a bit lazy but I am a very respected, polite and well-to-do person, ever heard of deprivation? if I acted up as a kid my parents would just take something away from me, this type of punishment acts on the child's ego and stings a whole lot worse then a smack. Physical abuse just makes your kids hate and fear you.. and in my books these two sentiments do not make for a happy family.
Hitting a defenseless child is the most inhumane, depraved and cowardly thing a person can ever do.

i was smacked as a child, if i swore or did something wrong my dad would whack my across the back of the legs. sure i hated him for doing it at the time, but i grew up to be a perfectly respectful chap with as much love for my parents as anyone else.
sure, you guys claim your fine and were never smacked, your a minority, thats fine. but the fact is the VAST majority of teenagers (in britain) are so far out of control its unbeleivable. why were the teenagers of my generation so under-control in comparison? it wouldnt have something to do with smacking of children being banned after 2000 would it?
isnt it a coinsidence that children of the 1940's through to the late 1990's were more curtious, respectful and well behaved than the youth of today? you hear OAP's complaining about the kids of today, and how they lack respect, and now you know why. in the 1940's if a 15 year old DARE backchat a police officer he'd get a truncheon round the back of his legs! i watched a program last night where a 17 year old youth actually knocked a policemans hat off his head THREE times, and the policeman had the power to do NOTHING.
children are cocky and keen to showoff, they need to be put in their place otherwise they'll run wild and out of control, as is being seen today. as i stated earlier, we only assume we're above animal kind because of our ability to communicate, but our primitive minds are still very much in tact. if we associate fear with doing something bad, we wont do it! if we associate having our cuddly toy confiscated for doing something bad, we'll do something bad and just find a new toy. dont be rediculous.
the guys who did this might have there reasons, i can imagine how angry they could be if day after day the people they know and care about are being killed by iraq peeps. i dont mean to say its right or forgival what they've done though, they are more likely to get killed in retaliation now. its sad. but this type of thing is common in war/occupations.
im alittle more angry at the media for hyping this kind of stuff. We've got enough problems recently with alot of buildings being burnt down in sweden etc this is just fueling their excuse to kill more westerners now. not helping at all. the true enemy in this war is the media.
exactly. i'd like to see anyone here show restraint and calm when being stoned by rioting iraqi's.. how would you HONESTLY react? a friend of mine who was in iraq with the territorial army in 2005 made the very true point that these soldiers are guys, a huge lack of female contact aswell as action means they're constantly in a state of boredem, looking for something exciting to happen. and when it finally does, and they get a chance to show their force, they are ridiculed by the media for misbehaving.
i'd bet that ANY one of you in the same position would have done the same thing, imagine how hard it is to show calm and restraint when confronted with something like that? when as the poster i'm quoting has mentioned, many of your friends have been killed or injured by the same people?
You keep putting the blame on the 'out of control' kids... what about the parents? don't you think that maybe kids today are misbehaving more because parents have become lazy, irresponsable and incapable of properly educating their kids?. And for your information, my parents never took my 'cuddly bear' away from me, if I did something bad they would take the thing I loved more from me until I got back on the right track, for me it was punishment enough to learn my lesson. You just don't want to take that extra step and actually make an effort, there are plenty of ways to educate a child which don't involve smacking your hand across their face, that's just the easy way.
I'll say it again, parents who use violence to educate their kids are irresponsible, abusive and cowardly. Who decides how far it has to go? is a smack enough? do you hurt in proportion to the cheekiness of the kid? what about caning... or belting? did you know that there have been cases of kids being permanently disabled or dying from being beat on by their parents?...
My mother once told me how bad her father used to beat her when she would not eat all her food or did something even mundanely cheeky, she lived in a state of costant terror because of this and married very young to escape from her father, she had to go through a lot of therapy because of the panic attacks she still gets when she thinks about it.
No child deserves to be hit by an adult, I hope that one day you will understand this.
I'm saddened by this topic, this is the last post for me

wow! you are seriously twisted.... so it is okay for police to go around beating people at will? i am all for not being "soft" with criminals, but a judge and or jury should determine weather a criminal is guilty of a crime and be punished for it.
and to compare spanking and disciplining your own kids to this video is totally wrong, these are to complete different things. first of all it is your kid and if you want to spank him on the butt that is your prerogative, but have you actually seen the video?
do you beat your kid with a billy club? do you think police should be able to beat people at will with a billy club? also your theory of associating being bad to pain is completely wrong, expressing love and understanding to your children, as well as teaching them right and wrong at a early age works well.
my son is 11 years old and i have not once had to "beat" him nor will i ever. its not the pain of beating that teaches your kids right and wrong......
but again, police should not just be able to beat people for any reason they feel nessesary.......why not just arrest them? why not just have a judge and or jury convict and punish them? what if they actually didn't commit the crime? and the police just beat them anyways, is that okay with you?
and one last thing.....what if there was martial law in your country and another country's military was policing your town, and they were going around beating your people for protesting that....would that still be okay with you?
read this http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1044304#post1044304 then come back and talk to me about the vanguard/soe fiasco.....
i didnt have to read any further than this paragraph, as you've just proven my point nicely for me. EXACTLY! what about the parents?! they've had all power taken away from them, they can no longer disciplin they're own children as they're parents would have disciplined them. you can bet your life that when they were kids, they're parents would give them a whack for misbahaviour. but now... what can they do? they have no power, if they so much as look at they're kid in the wrong way you know the NSPCC will be down on them like a ton of bricks!
i 100% agree it IS down to the parents, but the entire REASON the parents now are so incapable of educating their kids is because the government and left-wing pressure groups have taken any power they had away from them!
wooo that was a gooden..
