I completely agree. Without conflict and competition among players, mmo's are incredibly shallow. Guess that's why I will never play WoW no matter how many of my friends tell me to.
I give props to these guys that held the sceptor for hostage. I really wish they wouldn't have said it was a joke, and actually waited for people to give them 5k gold. I am sure Blizzard had never planned on having something like this happen, but who knows, maybe they actually wanted to see if someone would do something like this. Maybe Blizzard is actually giving more "free will" to their players.

lol, Ya I am *looks down at the ground* Ive been through so many MMO's its not even funny anymore. Nothing can hold my intrest like UO did. WoW level 60 Shamen EQ2 Level 60 Fury Legacy Online Tycoon of the upmost integraty... Gas barren lol EVE 30 Min Vetran DAOC 2 week vetran Shadow bane 30 min vetran lol some games you can tell you wont last right away ATITD 1 Full way through the first telling Im sure there are more I just can think of them
UO 5 Year vet, GM Mage, GM Minner, GM Tinker, GM Swordsman, GM Healer ..... and so on, ohhh how I miss UO. I actualy kinda like the Matrix, the fighting is awsome, as well as the constant live events. Im sure there are problems with the game like I have heard but up to this point its been fun so what ever its all good
Would not the guild with the ability to unlock content be among the very few that also have the ability to take on and enjoy that content?
Seems to me they are only holding back the content from themself as most others can not access it, even if it was open.
Not super brilliant if you ask me.
