What do you guys think of Runescape the biggest online free player game and one of the biggest mmo's.

The first 'fact' may be true, the second is not. There are many MMOs that are bigger than Runescape.
Also, the game sucks. And I'd rather drink my own blood then play it.

I disagree it has about 1 million free players and roughly 400-600k members now. Runescape doesnt have the best graphics and some other things but the most players it has playing at once is 185k which is alot. So therefore alot of people do enjoy playing the game.
err ok i was thinking of something else, just looked on google and apparently it does only have 380k, however thats still loads

Anytime I get a cut I wash it and put suction on it to make it stop bleeding faster than if I applied pressure :P
Anyways, runescape is AWFUL. It's boring as all hell, and you'd be better off playing with yourself for hours on end than that game, as at least it'd be enjoyable.

I think runescape has so many players is because the game has a certain depth to it that those player enjoy. Runescape is similar to how dungeons and dragons had depth to it and was an involving game, but you needed a good imagination to appreciate it.
I guess it really comes down to the players imagination. A game can be what you make of it
I played the game for a good 3 months and first thing to be said is.
When i first went to the game and played it. i played for lets say 4min then i was like omg the gfx are so bad and this sucks. Well after you get past the noob island and you see better armor and things you see that you can work for something.
I Find that runescape has alot to do if you really get a good look at the game. But most people cant get past the gfx. And i have to say after playin games that are so real like i couldnt go back to runescape. But you gota give the game something he does update and put something new in like once a week. So (claps hands) the staff is doing something. If your not a gfx whore and you can handle a little less in that area i would say runescape isnt to bad.
The downsides of the game is gfx, some scammers (but dont all games have them)
The chat system is super crap you gota click the name everytime you want to say something.
And the main reason i would say the numbers are so high is first off
1. a computer from like 1998 can run it with little to no lag
2. its not a download thing so you dont have to worry about all that
3. free for some area's(The game is much better if you pay i would say about 95% better)
4. Who cant come up with 5 a month
So if runescape would up the gfx i bet you would even see people that didnt think thay would like it play. Besides the Gfx its a good game i would rank it a 8/10 with the gfx 6/10

runescape is one of the biggest free mmorpgs, but its definatly NOT one of the best mmorpgs, infact, its not more then just a game all over the internet, you can just go to the website and play it on the internet, a real mmorpg should be downloadable.

ok, its big, but thats because it only need a (crappy) computer and(slow) internet, no download
grafics are like.......i think i could do better

about 90%of the players is meelee, that kinda sucks
its more like a grindingfest then a playable game,
the freedom of going where you want is really REALLY limited(untill you pay for it)
and its not, very very certainly not, the biggest, compare the numbers of that game with eve, WoW, and other games, its not the biggest, ok?
at the start(and way past the start) the choice of armors is limited
there are places nobody comes, and the places that need to be used are very very crowded,
if im being in a good mood, i would give this "game" a 4/10

Why would i even whant to pay for it? Its only stupid people who dont know any better who pay. And your friends belong to thoose 5% who are older. If i would pay for a game it would be for a 'real' game, not a stupid web game.
Nice gameplay mechanics,bad community. It's very open-ended and has good stuff to do but the community really lets this game down.
A fully 3D version of Runescape would be worth a look though,it'd be interesting to see the good skill system operate in a 3D environment. Well,I like the system of levelling up skills through use anyway.

I would like to take a few seconds to laugh at that statement. All websites you view are downloaded to your computer, ... any flash file must be loaded/downloaded to your temporary files to be usable... then I'd like to take a few more seconds to laugh.I think he ment files that are bigger than 1mb. Erm, you do know that whenever you go on a website, you have to DOWNLOAD everything you see, and quite a few things you don't.
When you play Runescape, it downloads things to a temporary file somewhere, no downloadable client, but it still downloads things.
Next time you laugh at someone, check your facts.

I used to play it. I have four huge problems with it, one is fixable and I can't figure out why they don't implement it.
1) No Guilds, Teams, Bad Content For Groups - Crazy. I don't get this at all. The only chat is vicinity and whisper. This should've been in the original game. Huge oversight they don't seem willing to fix.
2) Specialization In Everything Dampens Cooperation - A lot of people like this system, but I think it just hurts the community. Everyone is trying to be everything at once. As long as everyone can be a Warrior/Ranger/Mage/Tradeskiller I think you hurt the community by not promoting cooperation. No pet/healer/support either.
3) No Skill System Complexity - Game needs some trickle down or trees or buffs or SOMETHING. The skill system is "open-ended", but that turns out to mean that you can just pick which treadmill you want to run on.
4) Mouse Walk - People actually complain about the size of the world (rotfl, I think I've been in bigger zones in other games). I think its just because you have to use the idiotic mouse to move.
I don't understand why the download thing is an issue. I guess that it means you could play it on other computers but thats a fantastic way to have you login/password logged.
