Thought I'd reply to some things to help some of you new fellas out...
1) The Shadowbane forums are incredibly important to the game. They not only enrich your gaming experience by creating a true sense of community, but also are used for a number of things. If you are confused on what classes to go with it's probably best you check out the class-specific forums on the ones you are interested in. Don't be afraid to make a thread asking if the class is easy. There are also enlistment forums for every server where you can try and find a guild.
For those of you on Mourning you can send a private message on the forums to AlluraDC who will be happy to guild you and help you learn the ropes of the game. Her guild is fairly new, but Allura is a long time player, knows a lot about the game, and has agreed to take on any newbies that need a guild. Once again I cannot stress how important it is to use the forums regularily. Many veteran players call the forum "Forumbane" and say it's a game within it's self.
2) You are going to die. A lot. This game isn't World of Warcraft. There are virtually no limitations upon PVP except in very select areas. If you see a rank 7 running toward you, don't say "hi". You should either be running, getting summoned out, or fighting him back. The community in general isn't very helpful to new players. This may change given that the ratio of new players to veterans is probably going to balance out now, but don't take any rudeness personal. Some people are just dicks.
Also, you are all going to suck for a fair amount of time. You will be playing against 3+ year veterans like myself who knows every mechanic of this game by heart. We can list to you the level of weapon powers a rogue-ranger would get with an axe from memory. We know the best combination of powers to use, when to run, and generally we use spec groups (a group of characters that all are complimentary to each other) when we're out taking mines, or participating in sieges. Don't be discouraged when you die. Repairs are dime-a-dozen and you will get better as time goes on.
3) Play on Mourning. Yes, I am biased, but I can safely say that it is fact that Mourning is the server that a new player to this game will learn the game more quickly, and subsequently enjoy the game a lot more. Vindication is a great server in it's own regard, but the lore ruleset makes it somewhat of a "veteran server". Mourning is definately the best server for you to learn the game.
If you have any general questions I can be found in-game by doing a /who on "hale". I won't be able to guild you myself since I'm an egotistic elitest (for truth, you can ask around) but I can answer pretty much any questions about any aspect of the game mechanics. I'll also troll this thread for at least a few days and answer any questions you may ask here.
It is free and that is as it should be.This game looks like an engine used from 1995,and isn't worth any pay to play.I feel sorry for anyone that was paying for this.I downloaded and played for 2 hours and said i had enough of this junk. The camera was set to 4 keybad buttons and the movement was click to move no keypad or mapping that i found anyhow. It just seemed very archaic in its makeup.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Try using your scroll button to move the camera. Holding it down you can rotate the camera in any position you want. With a little OMGZORS "practice" it is actually quite easy.
It takes quite a bit of getting used to, but in the end has some damn good pvp.
Character build is very important in this game and you will need to study the forums a bit to get AT LEAST a basic template for your character or you will suck. Not everyone is going to be the same in the end because you get to choose what skills, disciplines and runes you have to augment yourself, not just levels and the one set of uber armor and weapons.
THen your skill comes in as you need to know your enemies weaknesses. Sometimes you might be in a situation where you will be hitting air against and opponent or may not have the stamina to bring him down even if you could hit every time. Snares, stuns, power blocks, damage debuffs, accuracy debufs, weapons speed debuffs: These all need to be used at the right time in the right situation. The right "stance" must also be used...you need to know when you want to put as much damage as fast as you can or to conserve stamina and defend. there is lots and lots of depth to pvp.
Graphics are not important. They are ok, but the main part about this game are the tools they give you to fight and conquer

Try creating a recordings folder in your sb directory if there is none then starting a recording.
