BIOWARE is NOT taking over SWG. Want proof?
Go to www.bioware.com
Go to Bioware Info, then Jobs at Bioware at the top.
Go to Bioware Austin Jobs
Go to one of the positions being offered.
Scroll down to Skill Set section.
READ THE FIRST BULLET ITEM:
Familiarity with fantasy role-playing games is a must.
As we all know, The Bioware Austin was setup specifically for the FIRST and ONLY MMO being made by Bioware. And last time I checked, SWG was NOT Fantasy but Sci-Fi. And besides, BW is going to take one of their products and go MMO - much like Blizzard has done with their Warcraft series.
I know this is not definitive or anything, but it is not wild speculation either. They specifically say FANTASY...which I think is boring and over done. Another Fantasy MMO is about a exciting as a MMO Tetris.

Comments
When most people think if MMORPG's they think of the Fantasy genre.
Mainly because there are more fantasy out there, by asking for people with fantasy role-playing games it would interest the bigger crowd.

Do not hate it, but instead embrace the diversity.

Just a question...
Do you even READ many professional industry job postings?
SWG Tempest: Cardo Dycen RIP
Eve: Cardoh Dycen
I support random drug testing for all SOE employees
DM: Let me get this right: The dragons breath knocks you over the 300' cliff onto the jagged rocks below and you want a saving throw?
Well, I read the title, and then I read what you had to say, and they seem contradictory.
I think you're glad to be the killjoy, but that's my opinion.
Now, for me, I'll be completely honest and say that I know it's hopeful thinking, because I hate SOE, and I hate what SWG has turned into.
But here's my arguement to your speculations
Websters dictionary says that Fantasy in this context is "imaginative fiction featuring esp. strange settings and grotesque characters - called also fantasy fiction."
With this definition and the understanding of what type of "grotesque characters" exist within the realm of Star Wars, isn't it reasonable to assume that the reason they want people who have knowledge in fantasy MMO's is because they want people who are able to capture the "strange settings and grotesque characters" that lie within the Star Wars universe?
Oh, and in my opinion, what you provided was not proof, it was simply your interpretation of what may or may not be fact. Let's face it, all of this is heresay and speculation, and until there is a press release saying something about LucasArts, Star Wars Galaxies, SOE, Bioware, or any of the other rumors, everyone is going to think they know the answer. All we have to do is wait and see who turned out to be right.
My hopes are with BIOWARE, but meanwhile, my $ will go to Blizzard.
Not to be confused with fan fiction which is placing popular fictitious characters in imaginative and strange settings doing grotesque things with anthropomorphic sheep people (usually representing the writer who has never in their lives had even the hope of reproducing).

it does not matters. If you are skilled in a fantasy RPG, why can't you be in a Sci-fi one ? It's to see if the peeps have experiences, thats all.

hehehe, I started a thread over at the SWG official forums just showing a link to the bioware site's job posting for a lead MMO combat system designer.
Only 20,048 more minutes to go before that ban lifts.

Whannnnn Whannnnn dat is the sound of 20 year old babies
Oh, and additionally - Bioware touts having Rich Vogel bring 15 years' game developing experience to their new Austin studio.
Rich was recently involved in another Austin, TX MMO project. Anyone recall?
*hint: he was the executive producer for SWG*
Oh man am i going to have a blast when bioware doesnt take over swg. You lot are hilarious.

I am the flipside of the coin on which the troll and the fanboy are but one side.
Bioware posted that they will NOT be working on any MMORPG that requires licensing.
They also posted that they will not work with Lucasarts again.
Wether you want to believe or not - they ARE NOT doing SWG or have anything to do with it. That's why they turned down KOTOR3.
Which job offering was it? So far everything I've seen does not say what kind of game it is.
Although thanks for showing me the job page, I'll have to send them my resume someday.
As for what happens next, your best guess is as good as this one.

Right, because they wanted to go a different direction with the MMO, that doesn't require licensing. I'm confused. What are you trying to prove here?

Wow, that sounds nice. So it is a possibility, we shall see.
Yeah.. I was reading their forums. Basically he said everything about them working on non-licensed products came BEFORE the MMO announcement.
So he says the licensed issue is moot, but will neither confirm nor deny... except that it isn't a go-bots project.

Here is a news bit i uncovered, not sure if it will shed any light but ............................... http://gamenewsi.com/index.php?itemid=401&catid=1
Enjoy
whatever
we will see what happens as time goes on. I mean I would know why they would be keeping a lid on it if it was SWG. It would be to give it time to get all transferred over and stuff before they made the announcement so that way there isn't another mass exodus form the game.
