After seeing the LA page that has the music and screen shots of the old game (false advertising) I really wanted to get back into SWG. Pathetic I know but L2, although a decent game, it just gets boring after awhile. So being bored and wanting a game like before I reactivated one of my accounts and got back into the game. I use the term "game" loosly for that POS. Beside the obvious of how bad the game is now, what the heck happened to the graphics? Makes FOM look like a work of art.
I took my yatch and went to all of the most popular planets. Theed Spaceport had 3 ppl standing there...all AFK. The cantina was empty. On the Ahazi server I saw maybe a total of 20 ppl on a Friday night. What were those numbers they elude to about having so many subscribers. BAH
Then before I cancelled this POS game I decided to make a toon on Bria and was surprised to see about 30 ppl there. Wish that BW would get the old game up and running as the rumor mill has it. Until then guess I will keep searching for a replacement.

As more people show up from SWG, it really makes me sad. We had a great community around that game. Although I'm happy more are seeing that giving money to SOE is the same as flushing it down the toilet it still sucks that one by one we are driven away from the game we all loved and enjoyed.
Anyhow, as I said welcome aboard and make yourself at home. We get trolls every once in a while. Smack'em around or ignore'em and they get bored. Sometimes the can be convinced to have a lively discussion though and that's interesting.
Oh yeah and Obriak. He's our lovable SWG player. Most of us can't figure out why he stays but he says he's having fun in the game so we all giggle and pat him on the head.

For me its not -and never was- a population problem. The wellknown "OMG-ITS DEAD" thread's are just an indicator for the game, in my opinion.
For me its more then that, why "playing" SWG is no option:
1. SoE - i cant pay their salarys after their threatment
2. The combat: I think a surgery on your knee without narcotics is even "more fun"
3. The complete dump of every other action making this "game" diff. from a console clicker
Vanguard, STO, mabye even Pirates of the burning sea - these are titles to watch.
Heros Journey too, but all i read there is a development since years. If they go on like this, the title will never release cause the engine's are always outdated again before they are ready...

This is why I still claim the PS3 rumors to be false. Putting something like this on a next gen console, which will supposedly have not only next-gen 3D graphics, but even physics processing units, is a complete disaster.

I have to say that when Ravensong and I reluctantly signed up again to see the game because we missed all the fun we had we were in utter shock on the very sad state.
I read this forum almost every day and even jump over to the Drama Wars forum from time to time to see if there are any hopes of the game that we all fell in love with returning.
I would like to bring up a few points about what I saw last night as I jumped around a few of the old hot spots and was in utter shock on how laggy and barren it was of players.
It was odd to have that much lag and for no reason the graphics are so bad and have changed even more with the latest patches.
I have pre-CU, CU and NGE screen shots of my city on Ahazi and yes they have changed even if this was a console game the graphics and game play suck.
If you are still playing and think this is a great game then I take it you have never seen the Pre-CU or you are about 12 and You have a attention span of a gnat.
I hear all the stuff about “More Content” now if you know what that means in the Per-CU game bring it on I would have loved to see more additions like the Warren and DWB, But as the game stands now all the crap of more content is just more quests.
Questing is a NGE function of the game that was installed to try and capture the WoW kids. I had tried that game when the CU hit and got a toon to about lvl 14 and quit.
I would rather have a open sand box that I make the Content, I remember that I spent weeks on end working on my Café that I had set up for my master chef and didn't kill a single thing or loot anything.
I had unlocked Jedi village and it wasn’t because I wanted to be one it was that I had wanted to help all me friends that wanted to be one and it also gave me a place to drop all that XP. The bonus to the skills was nice too.
I was not into PVP and although I play L2 a PVP game I still don’t’ play that aspect of it.
As you can see from my post count I don’t post but if you look at the date you can see I have been here al while.
The one thing that was a plus to signing back up last night for a month is that I get a month to post on the Official Dramawars forums. That in it’s self is worth the 15 USD.
I know it hurts to think I’m adding to the SOE cash flow for that crap of a game but I have hopes that it will be back up in a Pre-CU state under Bioware soon. (yes rumor I know) But hey everyone needs dreams.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Ravensong is kind of my moniker in any game I play. I always assume the name but unfortunately no I never had a Ravensong on Bria before. When I started playing this game back in December of 2004 you couldnt even make a character on Bria because it was full.
Last night when I tried to make my usual toons name I was unable to as someone on that server had the name already
. Which really didnt matter to much anyway after seeing what the game had become. I guess the issue with the graphics is that I have not played this game since the NGE and after playing L2 is pales in comparrison.
You know when I first started playing I used to be an entertainer and was always in CNET cantina which was packed. I love to chat with ppl so I made a lot of freinds while hanging out enjoying the game. The conversations were drastically different though. On the Ahazi sserver last nigth in the one and only cantna that had ppl in it (about 10-12) all I heard was stuff my 16 year old would be saying. L33t speek and a bunch of kids talking about smoking da weed. My GOD. This game is like a bad acid trip imho.
I suppose all the flashy lights from the couple of ppl dueling in CNET starport may have something to do with my hatred of the game play as well. Yeah I admit I tried several games after ours died and that includes WoW. Why try and be like everyone else, all that was unique is gone.
And for the one fanboi......ok I will go and a give you count of ppl but it still wont change my opinion of the game. Its not about numbers its about community and the uniquness that is gone. How many days have you logged into this game? I quit with the CU and finally went back also and adapted to the game play but with the NGE (Not a Good Experience) I wont pay to be pissed off and sad at the same time.

funny that you mentioned graphics, I went back recently to check things out too and thought the graphics looked bad.
Things looked more blocky and less smooth. Also, maybe they stripped out some polygons or something because it just doesnt look as good. I took a few screenshots and compared them to some I had pre-nge and it doesnt look quite the same.
I wonder if speeding the game up effected things ?
I was feeling really depressed about SWG the past few months and then today three words were uttered that cheered me up immensely.

Uh yeah. Aprils fools on WoS. Although that would be fun (for the first 3 months) I'm 99% sure it's an april fools.

If you notice when SOe does comment about ther sub numbers it never states SWG. Its always we have this or that. I'm not going to assume that is how many are playing SWG. I think they are quoting numbers for thier station passes, which encompass their online games (all of them I beleive). So the next time you see them say we have 400k subscribers, im betting most if not all are playing games other than SWG. jsut one of their marketing spins, where not quite illegal, just poor ethics.

Your name does sound familiar and I used to buy stuff there all the time. Actually I never had a shop on CNET though. We had a city on naboo called Crystal Temple and that fell apart with the cu and then it got the best of me and I signed back up and we started a guild and city again on Naboo outside of Springfield called Crafters Haven. We were then called (CF) Creative Forces.
I think I met the bulk of the players when I was an entertainer back in Pub 9 and then after I became a doc I spent one whole phase as TKM/Doc out at the village helping with buffs/rez and killing thugs to help ppl get their phase completed. Actually it was more then once I went out just to help out because it was fun to help ppl and we would all chat while waiting for the wave of sith to attack.
Im currently playing L2 and have a Shiilen Elder and a Prophet as which both characters buff and heal. Guess I couldnt give up being a doc
I guess this would be a good time to say hi. I started playing SWG shortly before they nerfed CH and stopped shortly before the CU. Judging from the reaction I've seen to the CU and especially the NGE I got out just in time. Remember when creature mounts first came out and everyone wanted a kaadu to ride?
I thought I was pimp on my brackaset. Then vehicles came along and creature mounts were obsolete. Anyway I had a character on Farstar who started as an Ent then became a master tka/master weaponsmith then dropped weaponsmith for swordsman to be an uber melee type, and a character on Ahazi who dabbled in a little bit of everything before going master ch/flame IV commando (flavor of the week at that time) then changed to rifleman but I didn't play that one much after the ch nerf. I've played a bunch of the other MMOs, right now I'm trying out EVE online.
