You misunderstood my mentioning of my guild. We have a vent server and there are always 5 people on that, now there usually are 5 people who are not on vent, at any given time. There are probaly 20 membres that play alot. And even more who are casual.
So the only problem you see is that the professions are too similar?

I am realy loving this game for endless reasons, but it will only be more fun if you guys come join back in the fun.
Do not hate, Hate brings fear and fear brings pain and pain brings... oh I forgot it now, well you know what I mean.
I like the missions, they are good stories and feel natural and not repetitive.
I love how there are different missions geared towards the dirrerent job paths.
I also saw a good amount of grouping in missions and people in covert operations like base raiding missions with eachother.
It is cool how I got my own ship and can modify it. Seems lots to do.
I'm sure I will get into a group soon after I get to know my way around.
My Brother wants to run a town and rival other groups so if they try to come into the town the ones who live in his town will comence to destroy them.
My goal is to get one of those 4 level homes, how cool is that? Lots to do.
And EVE is also a great game but you stay inside the ship all the time, bummer...
And CoH is Great but thos missions are just one after the other repetitive...realy.
And I do not mine seeing Jedi in game because all the Star Wars Films seem to be told from the side of the Jedi anyways or the Sith or somthing anyways.
I am a Bounty Hunter and it is cool and I FEEL like a bounty hunter too...
And yes I love the Wide Open Feel, Keep it comming Yes. Good Job, keep it all comming, I am exstatic with how fun this is.
I realy have to thank KatOR I, I finished it and it was awsome and I learned a lot about Star Wars and it was what mostly made me play SWG finaly.
Well....ummm....glad your enjoying yourself, and good luck with the game.
Whew, I did it. I didnt flame him, I got through the post without being ugly simply because we have a difference of opinion. Oh wait....shit, I did it again. Oh well..../shrug

lol i guess if all you cared about was combat, the nge probably isnt much of a big deal.
"you have to aim to kill something which means players skills not mathmatical calculations which is the better than auto attack anyday."
turn based systems require skill, just a different kind. skills like planning, and being able to think quickly to form a strategy. If all you were doing was auto-attacking, then i can see why you didnt like it Mathmatical calculations have nothing to do with planning your moves, if you want to look at it that way, math has more to do with the current system then the old, since all of the specials are the same.
I personally enjoyed the strategy employed pre-cu regarding keeping states like dizzy and stun on your enemy and timing your spice down times and drink fill bars correctly, for example. And if you were killed while kd/dizzied, you were obviously not "skillful", becaues there was an easy way to get up from it if timed correctly. Basically, you had to do moree then hold your mouse button down. Im not forgetting the glaring deficincies like the mind bar and over powerd buffs/armor/dots, but the core system was much superior then the current.
Like someone said before me, the only reason the game is "balanced" now is because every profession is exactly the same. Once (if) they add dirvesity, i can guarantee it will become "unbalanced" because there is no mmo in existance that is balanced where diversity exists. Even wow , generaly though of as the most polished game, is doing class updates because of inbalances and soe has about 1/10th of blizzards ability for development. So what happens then? Will soe decide to give players a newer starwarsyier iconicier version of swg because they arent able to "fix" their current version again?
Finally, you described the old system as "gay" 4 times. Nge target audience = successful! lol
My position still stands along with Obraik's origional statement, if you are currently playing SWG, and you did NOT play during pre-cu, it has no relevence to that player. Is it relevant to us (former pre-cu vets)? Of course it is, but this isnt about me or former vets, its about current NGE players. This is a game, not a damn real life event of historical importance, im refering to the person who compared this to Lincons death, please....give me a break. It is more along the lines of, youve been a F-150 man all your life and you just now switched over to the Ram, would it matter how the Ram looked, sounded and ran 10 or 15 years ago? Probably not, unless you were very insecure and paranoid, which seems to be most of you. The OP, Obraik, and all the others that are playing swg right now....are doing just that, playing the game, so just accept it and get the hell over it. Its ok for all of you to make "swg sux omfg d00d" threads left and right, but nobody can make a thread about how they like the game? Bunch of dumbass Nazis.

Relevance to the past comes into play in this thread because the op is addressing swg vets who have left, asking them to resubscribe on the merit that swg is getting better and the devs will come through on their promises. It doesnt have anything to do with the op liking the game or not, thats not the issue. In order for the vets to believe the game will get better, they'd have to forget the past evidence, and thats not very smart. So yes, in this situation, the past is more than relevant.
And if you werent too busy insulting everyone, you'd have noticed that the op wasnt just listing the reasons he liked the game for the hell of it, he was asking the former players to give it another chance. It's not often that someone comes in here and gets flamed for saying how much they love the game (that is not an obvious attempt at baiting) Most people will disagree with them, but people disagreeing with each other does not equal flaming each other. Flaming would be calling them dumbass nazis or insecure and paranoid, for example, because they liked the game and that would pretty much negate anything else the flamer has said to their side's credit, pro-nge or not.

People who left before the original Combat Upgrade might just peek in and play the game *if* the developers make the changes they say they will. Their track record of promises delivered is unimaginably poor. The people who left before the CU will play for a bit, get bored and move on. These are not ever going to be a core player base for this or any other game. Player retention in SWG is not something they desire, I know. /shrug
People who stayed through the CU and left at the NGE are most likely so sick of betrayal that no matter what is done or what skills are returned to the game, they won't trust SOE/LA and won't come back no matter what. The reputation of a gaming company matters. SWG might dig out and appeal to an all new audience, and they are banking on that. SWG does not care about keeping or bringing back veteran players. They have said this many times since November 15th.
I'm sure you'd like to see some other people in game, but it won't be the vets. You will have to wait out the year and hope the game goes to console.
Best of luck, Athela SWG July 3rd, 2003-March 21st, 2006

How about more of a warning about past events from $0E in order to save the new player some heartache in the future?

But he didn't. The guy is new to the game and enjoying it as it currently is. What it was like in 2004 has no relevance
Do NOT even go there Obraik. How SWG WAS in july'03 or 2004 is VERY relevant. The game back then WAS when there was LOTS of players actually playing the game.
You like the game now ... fine. But do NOT even try to say that how SWG USED to be isn't relevant, thus trying to minimize the damage that $OE and $LA has done. If this piesce of shit game they now call SWG was so freaking good? Where is the playerbase?
And you know what? Look at the official SWG forums.... they are FULL of people quiting or saying they are just waiting for their accounts to run out.
Yes, it's relevant to those of us that played in the time, but not to those that only just started playing recently. If he likes the game the way it is now, so be it, that's his opinion and he is as entitled to say that as you are to say that Pre-CU was the best time in the game. These are OPINIONS, they are neither right or wrong.
Look at the SWG forums? When haven't they been mostly about people complaining?
OH gimme a break! That's like Smed's remark that the percentage of subscriptions has declined. If you have 300,000 customers versus 40,000customers (a liberal estimate) then obviously the percentage of those cancelling before will be higher. Likewise, the reason the SWG forums have dropped off of complaining is barely anyone plays anymore. Also the mods ban anyone who dares speak against it.
Reminds me of China. They are a country who has silenced all organized political dissent. Yet does that mean everyone is happy?

But its ok for the people who quit and hate the NGE to tell current players to quit and they are throwing money away? I just want to get this straight.
How about more of a warning about past events from $0E in order to save the new player some heartache in the future?

Max
Currently playing: Nothing
God, do i miss hunting krayte dragons...
