With all due respect, that's the first time you've said you were against farming. You've been around mmorpg.com for ages, I've been here it seems 5 minutes. Perhaps you need to reread your previous posts in this thread from the context of someone who may not know what else you've said. You have more sympathy with farmers than I ever could. I think that's only part where we disagree.
BTW, something is going to happen soon. I could tell you, but that would spoil the surprise. I and some others [who may or may not be affiliated with nogold.org] have been using our energy for something that will send a shockwave to companies like IGE.com.
You certainly have my support for any action that will help to turn games back into games and stop them being used as another form of work.
I am 40 years old tomorrow and MMO's have been my main form of "escapism" for over 10 years now. I REALLY resent the way that pastime has been invaded and cheapened by others using it as their workplace when this was clearly never the intention of anyone involved in the making of these excellent games.
Best of luck with whatever your planning, I hope it has some effect.

Blah, blah, blah. Americas history isn't exactly the greatest around that time either. While we were out getting the chinese high, you were shooting the indigineous people of America in the head, or you were fighting amongst yourselves, on whether you should have black people as slaves. At least the chinese got high.
I'd be so shameful and embarrassed if I were you etc. (see, I can sound like self-righteous twat also)
I used to make some good money farming plat/gold/items until the asian farmers drove the prices down so much it wasnt worth my while. Thats why i hate them. Not because they ruin the games.
Not every chinese player is a farmer in fact some people are discriminating against them:
"One of the largest online computer games in the world seems to have its own real world problems.
Halifax, NS (PRWEB) January 14, 2006 -- Non English speaking gamers are claiming racial discrimination in the hugely popular World of Warcraft video game. World of Warcraft is classified as a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game and is an online computer role-playing game in which a large number of players from around the world can interact together or against one another in the same game at the same time. At last count Blizzard the developers of World of Warcraft stated they had 5 million active monthly subscribers.
The complaints are being posted to forums on the popular Tales of Warcraft website. This is a chinese language World of Warcraft fan web site set up for chinese players. They state they have over one hundred thousand registered users. The post involving the claim of discrimination has grown to over 7,000 replies claiming similar experiences.
As part of the game play for World of Warcraft players are required to form groups of 5 or more to be able to finish certain levels of the game. Now if you have a number of friends who also play World of Warcraft you can make arrangements to meet up in the game to complete these required group tasks. For all others players they will need to build groups by using the games message system where they can send a request out to fellow players to form or join a group of players for a certain task.
There is a common belief among English speaking players in World of Warcraft that most non English speaking players are gold farmers. This is a type of player who is only playing the game to profit, not for the love of the game. Gold Farmers are largely despised by players who feel they take away a certain purity of the game.
To combat gold farmers, players are requesting anybody who wants to join a group to type one or two lines of English. If the sentences or grammar are not proper English these players are rejected from joining this group. This is what is creating the backlash among non-English speaking players with feel they are being discriminated against based on their language.
[name removed] is an avid World of Warcraft player and owner of [gold selling] web site said this language bias makes no sense when you look at the statistics. He refers to Blizzards statistic that over 1.5 million World of Warcraft players are from China alone, with the majority of these players being non-English. While their has been recent publicity about the gold farm factories in China, it by no means justifies thinking that every Chinese or non-English speaking player is a gold farmer.
[] states that he does not know how to stop this racial discrimination, but believes if people could just try to keep a more open mind and trust people a little more; this would go along way to bring some racial harmony to World of Warcraft and the World in general."

The drugs we sell today are even better. Start taking them and you live, stop taking them and you die.
I'm not ashamed of my culture in any way. My history is as it is and I'm proud to have one. I don't blank out the nasty bits to save my embarrassment and I feel no shame from the actions of people I have never met hundreds of years before I was born.
I know where I come from. I live well and I know that other people have paid/are paying the price for this. I suppose your own self righteous country has done no evil and has never profitted from anothers misery. If only I could live in Tibet with the Dalai Lama too.
Western lifestyle comes at a price.
.
To all the anti-farmers, the only single justification for hating on farmers I've read in this thread is that it ruins the games immersion for you. How does the actions of farmers ruin your immersion?
Unless you are farming or buying yourselves.
Equally of course if I say to someone in game "I am a sheep farmer from Dorset, and I only play at weekends when my wife allows". I am also destroying your immersion.
Shall we ban non roleplayers too? Where does it stop?
I am of the opinion that if it doesn't affect you, it doesn't concern you. If people enjoy buying and selling gold on Ebay, then good luck to them. I like to hear about people enjoying themselves. It's seems a shame that others feel they can only enjoy themselves by ruining peoples fun.
Q: "Gee, you political troll nerf09, what the hell does Chinese Gold farmers have to do with mexican slave wages?"
A: When you combine two cultures with a massive difference in spending power and wages, the culture that has the upper hand in their economy will take advantage of the cheap culture. Historically this was represented militarilly by outright annexation of foreigners, sometimes practicing genocide before entering newly annexed territory.
Then those, "warlords" became more "refined" and re-invented themselves, so they invented slavery, a new way to make a buck.
Then those, "Slavers" became more "refined" and re-invented themselves, so they invented Colonialism, a new way to make a buck.
Then those, "Colonials" became more "refined" and re-invented themselves, so they invented Free Trade, a new way to make a buck.
In the end, the warlords, the slavers, the colonials, the free-trade mantra crowd, they are all the same. They are morally bankrupt and evil inside, they will do anything for a buck. Just look at those college students in China playing some stupid videogame for a buck, and WOW SUCKS!
