Resubbing dammit

in Star Wars Galaxies

Come friday i will be resubbing my main account and probably resurrect my second as a transfer to same acc alt. So quick question, any idea on a price for tranfers? Or are they doing it for free?(yes, i know it's SOE). I miss the game and may be a little optimistic with the new promises/publishes but most of the competition doesn't do it for me. (GW is cute tho).

As someone who is critical of this game and the companies involved, i'll post my progress. But i also think it better to be fighting on the inside rather than just on this forum. . . If i don't get banned that is.

    Um, you fight SOE with subscription numbers. Resubbing means you sell out. I hope you don't seriously think anything you post on their forums is anything more than waste of server space.

         Resubscribing doesnt mean you will get a better chance of countering SOE, by giving them your money and time ,you support SOE  and their ongoing destruction of SWG path whether you like it or not.But do as you like,if you miss SWG that much you should resub,but I hope you wont be dissapointed as many others have being.

    This site lists all the details on transfers.  I'm assuming it's a same server transfer, in which case I'd go with the without items transfer and move everything from the character being moved into houses owned by your main character.  Don't forget your pets, vehicles and ships

    Not only one account but two.....AND throw in the transfer fee of $50-$60 bucks to boot! You just don't fall of the wagon, you seriously hurl yourself off!

    Seriously, I do understand. You are grieving the loss of the SWG we knew and the need to go back is overwhelming. You must do what you need to, and I hope you find the satisfaction you desperately are seeking from a game, although you are at risk for a tremendous disappointment. Just a little advice - do not build your 'hopes' on the prromises and publishes that may never happen or will take well into 2007 to be implemented. Some lessons as a refugee must be retained. Good luck and keep us posted.

    It's your money.

    I personally gave up on SWG some time ago.  Everyone likes different things though.  Some people love liver and onions, some people hate it. 

    Then again,
    I would compare SWG to post-digested liver and onions.

    Hope you have a good time with it though.

    Hehe, the response i expected. Seriously though i do mourn the loss of my game. When i  first heard about it, i was really intigued. By time i started playing (bought a new PC to do so too) i loved it, several hours a night, as i'm sure many of you did the same. Thing is, i'm not much of a hardcore gamer, most games lose their luster after a few sessions. So, i'm going back to see if i can salvage something.

    As for transfer fees, it's the equivilent of that account running for a few months. If i go back for good, it's better value than what i was playing before.(i'll wait to see how the game is before i do) Only concerns are all of my profs were uncerimoniously slaughtered, so we'll see.

    Let's face it SOE treated us really badly, but my desperation for the game it hasn't let me forgive but for the moment forget. Plus it's the players that made the game, not SOE/LA. Hopefully they won't all be l33t.

    And i have 50 or so crafted suits of armor hidden in a shrine that are just begging to be overpriced.

    They seem like they have alot of problems with account transfer. I thought I read recently they are still having some trouble. You may have to wait for that.

    A Year ago when I moved characters it was 30 to move on same account, 60 between accounts.  Thought they said you could transfer with items it was not an option on the page. 

    You could not take any resources, crated items, schematics that were not part of your characters skill set.  You could not take pets or ships or anything basically from your datapad that was not inherent to your character.

    You will recall when the Japanese servers shut down there was a big problem with those characters and they ended up I think pretty well stripped down and it was /shrug sorry.

    You lose theoretically all faction points.

    I think though they say you can't take money they send you through with 10k if you have that.

    These things could have changed since then but I wonder if working on character transfer is within the current "scope" or if it is on the dev schedule as a priority.

    Depends on if the character on the other account is on the same server.  If so, it's just a matter of dumping everything in the main characters houses and then banktip all credits from the account being transferred to the main.  If you dual client you can even transfer faction, pets and vehicles.

    The only thing you are doing is paying the pay checks and feeding the off spring of the idiots that took away the game we love. The SWG we knew and love is dead, and this abomination in its place is not that same game let it go.

    You're a traitor to the cause. There is no "fighting from the inside". They changed because they wanted to make more money. Since when does a SWG refugee believe that they'll listen to anyone's comments? The only thing they care about are profits. With more and more refugees coming back, there's no reason for them to do anything drastic to fix the game.

    We're doing exactly what they expected. They said we're angry now, but we'll eventually come back after we've sulked a bit. There's only two ways this is going to end:

    A) More and more people will come back as they make the game more like the original version.
    B) They shut down SWG because the subscribers won't support the licensing fees.

    From what I've seen, everyone sounds pissed at SOE, almost everyone said they're boycotting the company, but the second they show that they're trying to make the game more like it was pre-CU, everyone's falling over themselves trying to rush back. Nevermind that this company's pissed so many of us off that we've been trolling on these forums for at least six months.

    It's SOE. What are you expecting out them? That they'll fix everything and eventually things will be just like they were before? They still won't admit that they've done something wrong! "They could have handled the change better"? There's better games out there. Or, at least there's some good ones coming out. Pre-CU days are gone. Don't let it's killer get away with it.

    QFE, well yes, that's the point isnt it?? Hated the NGE, hate SOE, love Star Wars. None of this iconic business, but i once loved this game and with the intended changes/improvements (which have come about because of people like us) it's worth another try, for me anyway.

    I'm actually a little embarassed for you.  You're proving them right when they said, "They'll come back because it's Star Wars." 

    There is no "fighting from the inside."  If you're paying them money, they don't care what you think.  That just proves them right that they can do whatever they want to make the crappiest game ever and people will keep going back just because it's Star Wars.
    This game is NOT the same game as the game we loved.  Most of us miss the old game, just like you do.  But we understand that going to the NGE won't make that feeling any better.  It's a different game,

    Do yourself a favor and try the game out for awhile, if you must, before you do the char transfer thing.  Nearly everyone who has relapsed and gone back, has come back on here wringing their hands and cursing furiously.  (Ok im exaggerating for emphasis, but it hasnt been pretty) 

    Its understandable that you miss the game, hell I think most of us do.  Oh well, its your dollar (or 15), but thats my 2 cents.

    ok i really hope this fad of resubscribing so you can post your review on here ends soon.  You're giving your money to the devil and it doesnt take a genius to realize it hasnt changed much since the nge came out. :P We all know it sucks, otherwise we wouldnt be here.

    You said it right Bissrok, your a traitor and you will be now apart of the problem. Giving them your money just proves you are agreeing with them. We all miss our old game and we all want it back. We all are wanting to be back playing it, but b/c we were screwed , treated like garbage, laughed at , we wont give them our money. If you give them your money, then you are the SUCKER smedley is talking about. Remember , when he said oh after they all cool down , they will come back, thats him saying that after you get done crying, you will be back b/c it is star wars.

    So go ahead , resub and go play a game that is a shell of its former self. Go ahead and give them your money even tho they pretty much laughed at you, lied to you and most importantly scammed you info believeing the bullshit they keep producing.     Like many have said, once you pay them your money you are now apart of the problem. Once you pay them your money, you have turned your back on your fellow refugees. There is no fight on the inside, if you think you can do damage from the inside on their forums, good luck b.c they will ban you an make you dissapear just as fast as you resub, not only that they will laugh at you again b/c they have your money.

     I too want to go back and feel the Tattoine sun warming my face, I also want to visit the old POIs and reminicence the old days. But you know what? I just can't...

    It's not that I have an ironwill or I'm a better characer, I just know I'd hate myself  after the initial thrill of logging in has settled and I just realized I gave money to people who pissed on me and my SW bethren when we were lying down.

    I'm not gonna flame you, the realms beakonl and we must all answer the call in our own way....

        I don't feel that it's right to bash this guy.  I'll be the first one to admit that this is not the way I'd go about it, and I feel that giving them money IS proving them right in that "it's Star Wars, they'll pay no matter what".  But I also believe that he's entitled to.  Hell!   I tried the damn NGE even though I swore I'd never again touch the game after the CU.  And also, I believe the game is in a pretty horrid state on it's own, so he'll most likely see it for what it is and he'll cancel.

    If not, at least Obraik get's someone to play with! 

    SOE knows what you like... You don't!

    I feel your pain and I too have fallen into that trap of "just checking in" only to be saddened even more deeply once I got back in.  The truth is that the game you grew to love just doesn't exist anymore.  You would be better off spending your money on some Star Wars books and a new copy of Battlefront 2 my friend.

    The game I loved is gone forever and I have accepted that.  All I have now is memories and some screenshots...and thats as close as I will ever get to the game I loved.  And there is no "working from the inside" possible.  They don't care what you think or what you want despite what they say.  If you don't believe just pick a few random promises over the course of a few months and see what happens.  At some point they usually just act like they don't know what you are talking about and/or delete the posts where they promised the change.
