Since this is a web sight about gaming and posts from gamers conserning their experience with a gaming product and/or company I would suspect that is the reason you find discussion about games and entertainment here.
Plug oil, health care, cars, rain forest, drunk drivers, or whatever else you want into google to find forums to make suggestions for the other complaints.
Add the fact this is an SWG forum and we have all bought and played the game and thus also been abused by LAE and SOE the discussion here would tend to lean toward topics that deal with a certain game of entertainment called Star Wars Galaxies.
I know, it is hard to believe, but true. This is a gamers web sight. OMG!

Edit: I am not saying people do not put effort into righting wrongs in the real world . Yet When I look at what happened with SWG I feel it is trivial .

The NGE isn't really entertaining...it's more like torture.
As for your point... to change the world, as you put it, one has to start somewhere. I choose to start with telling other people about SOE's disrespect for their paying customers.

The concept that you need to grasp, is that MMORPGS are not just games, they are built upon communities of gamers all over the world. When your community is put through such drastic changes and is ripped apart, then you will understand where the hatred for SOE originates.
Heres an analogy for you: Say you went to school for 3 years and for those 3 years you did a hell of alot of work and made some good friends with your class mates.
One day you turn up for school, you find that you have been moved to a new class where none of your friends are and all of your work for the last 3 years has been destroyed because the teachers are changing the learning process.

Invest 12 years into professional sports. In order to stay competitive, you need to use steroids, hormonal enhancements, training destroys your bones and muscles. At 29 you end up a dried up cripple, with no hopes of employment, going into retirement. Insurance cancels their disability payments wince it was your own choice.
You're born into a poor, remote, Indonesian family of 24. At age 7, you're put to work in a coal mine, earning, 26 cents a day. At 33 you die of lung failure, leaving your wife and 9 kids with no means of income.
You move into African country as a westerner. For 20 years you work to establish a farming comunity. You build everything from scratch, turn desert into an oasis. Then, liberation army comes, tells you that foreigners are destroying their country. In the name of liberation they burn down everything, kill your workers, their countrymen, and tell you you have 6 hours to leave the country or you'll be killed.
And you whine about a comupter video game?
PS. All those references above are actual stories (summarized) that happened in last 18 months around the world. There are hundreds of thousands of such stories going on every day.

I agree, but come on, its not like we are actually DOING anything other then bitching to each other and patting each other on the back. I come here to discuss something that interests me, it isnt a life changing crusade agaisnt the darkness of soe. The biggest action ive made is canceling my subsciption and leaving a note on the starter kits at my local game store

You cant compare this to something like world hunger or corporate corruption. You can always do more about those things then you do now. How can you gorge yourself on that pizza while there are starving people in china? How dare you fill up your car with gas when our country is going to war over it and ruining little abdul's life?! Why are you living in that house instead of giving all your money to Feed the Children? I know its not a joking matter, but come on, you can say there are bigger fish to fry, but those fish arent in my pond.

Microsoft? Never paid for a microsoft product and don't intend to.
Healthcare? That's a governmental fix. Can't avoid getting sick.
Big Oil. Involved in the boycott of Exxon/Mobil. That's the new oil protest. You can't avoid buying gas, but if you avoid the biggest retailer, you hurt ONE. Don't buy Exxon/Mobil gas.
That, and I'm actively working against ANY incumbant politician, because THEY are the ones responsible for all of the things you listed. THEY allowed the automotive industry to be free of regulation, THEY allow big oil to rape us, THEY allowed Microsoft to be a monopoly, THEY have the power to fix healthcare and don't. Vote out every Schmuck in office, from bottom to top.

Just because many companies do far worse, in the big scheme of things, it doesnt mean that what SOE did isnt wrong. In fact the very same business ethics, or lack thereof, go into all of the evils that you detailed. Personally, I am more than capable of boycotting and bitching about more than one company at a time. Besides, this one took away my favorite passtime and that is a big deal to me.

Ugh, how can anyone live in a country with a health care system such as in the USA? It seems like you guys all get punished for getting sick
I pay NZ$14 per month for medical insurance. If I didn't have that and I needed hospital treatment, the governement will pay my medical fees, I just have to sit on a waiting list. All prescreption medication is subsidised, so most cost less then NZ$40. If you earn less then a certain amount, it's subsidised even further so you may only pay $5 lol

I know what you mean and I agree with you. But what do you expect us to do here? What were you expecting when you posted this? This forum is for the discussion of SWG and that's what I choose to do. This is not the place to take my fight agains the president or the republican agenda. This is not the place to discuss how much the public healthcare system sucks! If someone sells me a car that's a lemon, I exchange it or sue them, but why would I bring that here? I agree that SOE and it's antics are not the worst ever, just ask any Enron employee. That's precisely why I don't sue SOE, I don't have the time and money, but I do have the time to post here while I'm bored at work and I do feel like I'm getting my little measure of revenge, so why should I not to? Because there's worse? Sure there is! But this is not the place.

Im not trying to raise a conversation about those other companys , they were only examples of greater wrong doing . Maybe what i wrote , wasn't clear enough . I had just gotten home from work which i have two Jobs by sunday I can be pretty grumpy . Besides that I was kept 2 hours over my scheduled time , So I was very grumpy and wanted to rant about something .
I know this isn't the place to discuss political topics , As i said before i used examples . Maybe they were bad ones . But it was something a few co workers and I were discussing . It was still on my mind , Therefor I used them as examples .

As to why I come here after 6 months of not being in the game i enjoyed? thought i answered that in another thread?
a. the people, I love the fact that there are some very well informed and reasonably sane people here to debate things.
b. I have a strange morbid desire to see how SoE is going spin things this week or the next.
c. watching people flame each other over things. sounds strange but a well composed flame is a good read in the proper mood.
d. sigs, i loved duncans recent one, even if he did get my IP wrong.
e. some said there would be cookies after the show.

I agree , I don't own a car mainly because we don't need one . But also because I feel it is far to expensive to own one . We used to live far from our Jobs therfor were forced to own one . But a move into the inner city solved that problem , Its more expensive but we save a bunch by not owning a vehicle .
The only rerason I have Xp is because it came with my old pc . But i would never go out and pay 200+$ for it , hell no .

I know why your sig got my IP wrong, and why it always will. I set up the firewalls here man, and the ids system(nat is nice but not what i am doing to spoof the sig file), but thank you for the unconfusing anyone else out there
It's actually kind of funny that he stated those things, he doesn't seem to realize that it all comes down to us, we as the little guy actually have more money and power combined then those rich fat cats he was pointing out, he is just ignoring a simple fact that society as a whole refuses to take a stand on even the little things these days.
I mean if you won't even take a stand against a company for trashing your favourite game why would you try and fight an even bigger company for trying to gain a monopoly.
Why would a company do more rigerous testing when so many are more then happy to settle for whatever trash is thrown there way, this carries over to all products not just automobiles. You will have seen this in action with SWG with publish 28 being on test center for longer then any publish that I can remember, and OMG it even got patched a few times, that only happened because of the huge backlash soe has faced.
What is boils down to is if you want to fry the bigger fish it is usually a good idea to start out by learning how to fry the small fish, when you have mastered the art of catching and frying the small fish, the much hard to catch big fish becomes tha much easier.
I just love people who come into a videogame forum to argue that other people who play videogames are wasting their time or focusing on trivial matters. As if they are somehow "above" the videogame fray and just pop into forums like this one to tsk tsk all of us before they put on their cape to save the world. And the argument that "other people lie to so its no big deal" is idiotic. Just because other companies do corrupt things does not mean you shouldn't speak out about something you feel passionate and personally offended about.
