    EQ2

The current game doesn't resemble what was released or what was originally promised. Investing time in playing a SOE game is a crapshoot. You never know what yo will end up with and wether you find you wasted time building a character only to have everything change on you.

Thing is ... it's a roleplaying game.  If it were a space flight sim game, that would be one thing, but it's a roleplaying game, so having combat depend that much on out of game joystick twitch-abilities would really mess up EVE royally, tbh.

Runescape has to be one of the worst online rpgs out I can even see justifying Jagex 5$ a month for this game, horible graphics and game play.. and just plain crap... the only people I can really see playing this game are peeps with low end pcs... (oops sorry for the double post)

Runescape firstly, if we're talking about pay ones then EQ2.  I think part of me died seeing Freeport, Commonlands and the Wailing Caves.

    Least favorite ever:  EVE Online.

Still cannot understand why this mind-numbingly boring game of real-time skills, missions, mining and stargate ganking is ranked #1 on this website.

Naturally, the EVE fanbois will jump to defend their dull, dull game.

    EVE Online !!!!!!!!!

Theres' one thing I've learned from this site.  DO NOT TRUST THE GAME RANKINGS!
Every game up there that I've tried (Except EQ2 and DAoC) have sucked.

Sorry if I offend some people, but EVE Online was boring.  Everything about it was boring except for the rumbling sound my ship made.  I liked that.  But other than that.  Yuck!  You've got a smeared tapestry for a background.  Some floating balls that you can't land on.  Some jump gates that pretty much look all the same.  Some floating rocks, that don't even look like rocks.  They look like potatos.  And some ships with planed star patters that come out for jet fire.  Wooooweeee!!!  I'm impressed.

And don't get me started on the gameplay.  Sloooooooow.  It kept my attention about long enough to stop myself from pulling my hair out.  Who ever heard of having to log in on time to level your character?  I don't want to have to set my alarm so I can know when to login to send my character back to the books.  Silly.

Which has brought me to one conclusion.  And I may be wrong, because I don't have a camera in every persons house ranking the games.  But I get the impression that there are a bunch of little kids opening up multiple accounts and ranking those games high more than once.  Which to me, says something about their insecurity and their will to deceive.  Shame on you little turds.

I wonder what the game rankings would be if this were a pay membership site.  Hmmmm....?????

Close second - City of Heroes.  Again, boring.  Monotonous.  And the graphics were really simple.  Hard to enjoy on any level.

But like I said, either I have ultra alternative tastes, or there's some skewing going on here.

    It all seems so stupid

    1. Matrix Online - Started playing at release (pre-SOE) and hell what wasn't wrong with that game? Crappy UI, so-so graphics and character creation, buggy buggy uncompletable quests, the interlock combat system (ugh). I think the only 2 redeeming qualities of that game were the people (I did meet some cool people in game) and the world events (until SOE bought the game and canned everybody).

    2. EverQuest - One of the 1st MMORPGs I ever played and I hated every moment of it. It was a boring grindy time sink. I actually liked EQ2 leaps and bounds more then EQ and EQ2 really wasn't all that great either.

    3. D&D Online - *sigh* In beta the game really seemed to have promise to me (yeah I know ). The crappy UI, the lack of content, not following thre DnD PnP rule set in very odd places, lack of an immersive world (Eberron IMHO is a great world it's Turbine that presented it poorly, you'd be better off reading the PnP books then playing this game to enjoy the world lore). This game tried to cater to the MMO'er and cater to the PnP'er and did service to none. I hope they get their act together in 6 months to a year.

For the one person looking for a good D&D game and disliked Neverwinter Nights, you can always go with Baldurs Gate (and all the expansions). Also NWN 2 (which has a lot of improvements over NWN1 naturally) is coming out this year.

Thanks for the D&D game suggestions.  The only thing I didn't like too much about Neverwinter Nights was all the reading.  Blah, blah, blah, read this, blah, blah, blah, read some more.  I just got lost.  After a while I was just clicking through it all.  Which I know is bad.  I'm sorry.

I actually kinda like D&D Online though.  I don't know if it's worth paying for.  But the game itself is pretty fun.  If it were free I don't think people would complain about it as much as they do.  My roommate and I like it because we can jump on for a few minutes and actually go do something.  Every other online game you have to get all setup, go to where you need to be, find a team, etc.  The action is really easy to get too on D&D Online though.

Oh well, thanks again for the suggestions.  I'll check out Baldur's Gate.  I have Shadow of Amnn (or whatever).  I downloaded it a long time ago but never really tried it out.  It might need another look.

I totally agree.  If D&D Online were free I think there would be a lot of converts.  It's a fun game, it just costs too much for the monthly fees.  There's not enough content to justify it.  But the game alone is pretty kick ass.  It's fast, fun, and more tactical than most other games.

Maybe if they only charged like 5 bucks a month, or did something like Guild Wars.  It would be great.  There's still time for them to reconsider their plan.  I hope the game doesn't die out though.  I hate to see games go away.  Even the ones I dislike.  It's sad.

I've always thought that if they just sped up the med times in EQ that game would come to life.  It's got so much content and complexity behind it.  There's tons of stuff to discover.  But sitting for long periods watching a bar go up is just not fun!

If I were at the EQ studios and had control, I know just changing the med times to half of what they are would more than double the server populations.  It's the reason I scream at the game the most.  I want to play, but I can't.  I'm too busy sitting on my ass!   lol.

Final Fantasy XI...I don't know...it was fun for the first 10 or 15 levels but...meh.  It just wasn't for me.  Grouping is nice but god damn, I like to solo sometimes.

I think for me its EVE Online. for the first part I found it quite boring, but also hard to understand. English is not my first language. I understand tutorials if explained slowly and detailed. however I found EVE's tutorial very overwhelming. I didn't understand a lot of things.

then again, I'm also going to give the trial another try for the 3rd time. after slaying mob X for 10000's of times in RFO now, I'm really looking for something new. I hope EVE will finally hook me up this time.

If i could consider Runescape a true MMO, it would be that. But i dont consider Runescape an MMO. I have to say that the worst MMO i have ever played would be SWG. First of all, its a Star Wars game...How the flying flip do you screw that up? I almost decided to stop liking Star Wars after that...but i couldnt. Its just too god damn cool...except for the SWG part. Thats not cool. At all. Ever.

    EVE Online or WoW

Eve was just too slow and boring for me.  And the graphics weren't nearly as good as everyone raves about.  They screwed up space graphics!!!  How hard can they be?  And the gameplay was tedious.  Really boring and just not fun.  I guess an accountant might like Eve.  I bet all the H&R Block people play it at night.

WoW looked like Toon Town v.2 to me.   And there is nothing new to WoW.  No ingenuity, no originality, nothing that someone else hasn't done already.  All they did was took everyone elses ideas and added a new interface and characters.  Characters with lots of straight lines making up their frames I might add.  Could they try some rounded objects?   And that expansion pack...  Boy that's just going to change everything.     You get to play the whole game over again with your camera staring at a new races butt.  No new classes, nothing.  They don't even have weather in that game.

I have in my mind the image of a dog licking it's own bollox and a load of goths sitting around watching.

    Matrix online.

8 days to finish the content. Self obsessed developers spend 1/2 hour a month playing the game with the beta testers, instead of programming content into the game.

Buggy, laggy, no euro support, uninspired chod. $15 a month, because you think you would look good dressed in a full length black leather jacket and eyeliner.

Wins prizes as poorest quality software release along with New World Order. Incompatable with 50% of service providers in the U.K.

DDO, without a bloody doubt. DnL (SoG) would be a close second.

    No longer visiting MMORPG.com.

I think my least favorite MMORPG would have to be World of Pirates. As a matter a fact, that proabaly the worst game I have ever played.

SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) was by far the most pathetic excuse for a title I've ever seen in the course of my 21 years of life.

A game released in beta coding, with bugs that have yet to be addressed years after release. Laggy, boring, grindy...no balance, a dying population. Constant swinging of the nerf hammer, let's not forget that 2 of the classes did NOT even have their gear, nor function at all when it was released (Note: Commando, and Squad Leader did not work at all back in the day.)

Let's not forget the massive amount of exploiters/exploits (faction glitch for example), the unexplainably monotonous crafting system. (Note: Player economy was an awesome idea...but there's no need for 7100 pieces of bone armor to be on the AH....) Also, I don't like paying "taxes" in my game.

Then, of course the CU and the NGE can both be mentioned, as well as the devs who continually lie to their subscribers, their fanbases, and their players.

SWG should be cited by all MMO companies in the future as the way NOT to run an MMORPG. It is the poster child of corporate laziness, unmotivated/lackluster dev teams, a complete and utter failure to listen to it's fanbase, and newbie pandering to an exponential degree. Shame on you SWG, and an ultimate shame on you SOE.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

  • EvelknievelEvelknievel Member UncommonPosts: 2,964

    Oh thanks a simple one..

Star Wars Galaxies when CU was implemented..

After that patch, the game went down crapper!

    Nuff Said..

And WHY is it your least favorite ????

    Don't forget the why!!!

    Runescape as everyone mentions.

RF: Grind, Grind, Grind and still I look like everyone else.
SWG: (I couldn't last through the trial period)  can you say El-lamo?
COH: I had such high hopes only to find some of the most boring game play to date.
GW: Sorry love the game but how hard would it have been to add the ability to jump?  Is that asking too much?  I can live with the fact that you have to stay on a "path" pretty much but not being able to jump really takes any immersion out fo rme.
Eve: As mentioned this game is just plain boring.
WoW: It is my least favorite because even after dumping the game a month ago I still think about it at least once a hour.  Blizzard really knows how to brainwash players and make them addicted.
