2yrs ago, who wouldnt have thot that eq2 wasnt going to change mmo gaming; i wanted so much for blizzard to fail; now i'm on my 3rd 60 and getting my PHAT LEWTZ in mc......wtf....loading zones..... wasnt FUN.
2. rf online - i'm just pissed i spent $50 on that pos.....afk mining......no monster ai........everyone looks alike, even more alike than in ragnarok or lineage2........
Honorable Mention - Motor City Online and Sims Online.......that had to be a ruff year for EA....
theres a bunch on my list.....all those shady lineage clones..........horizons pissed me off tooo, they fucked up the only game where you could be a dragon, we need pvp.....

Get your facts straight before you post! (wink wink)
DDO, hands down. Biggest major-release, major name, major company rip-off in years. Bottom line : Underdeveloped, claustrophobic small, tiny content, and most telling, it is not even slightly based on real D&D 3.5 rules. It is just such a major case of suckage. The only think D&D about DDO is the name on the box, and that is the simple truth. Stay away from this major turkey (and that is giving Turkeys a bad rap, sorry).
SWG .... i brought in over two dozen players along with my guild ....equating to hundreds and hundreds of dollars for SOE since most of us played from onset to the NGE
and to reward us SOE killed off our professions ... lied to us about the game so wed buy the expansion .... turned BILLIONS of credits worth of items into worthless unusable ones .... reset our weapons some of us took two years to get ... and made them beginner weapons ... and made us pay for each and every expansion seperately AND for other copies of the game to have alternative accounts ...
then SOE made the NGE and gave all the new people free jedi .. and free alternates and gave the game and the expansions an all in one box set really cheap ....
they screwed us hardcore ... and i hate the fact that people like me and my guildies came over and help establish the game and give it its momentum when it was first released... and SOE just flat out stuck up their middle finger at us, and screwed us over so they could try and take some of the WOW players away from WOW...
I haven't played too many MMORPG's but I would have to say SWG or FFXI. However, WWII online wasn't as good as I expected. I just didn't like the gpraphics of SWG or WWII online as much as FFXI or GW.
My first pick, for worst mmo, would have to be SWG. I was a Jedi with a Master Doc/Merchant Alt Pre-cu. When the CU arrived, everything I worked so hard to build was made worthless. I was disappointed but not enough to leave the game but I did quit playing my Jedi. Since my Doc was practically worthless I moved on to a BE/Ranger and my Jedi to AS/Art. I spent the rest of CU crafting and harvesting meat. When nge arrived, all my toons where once again worthless or removed from the game completely.
My second pick would be DDO. After leaving swg and needing a mmo fix other than WoW, I had high hopes for DDO. I enjoyed the game for a few weeks but the constant trying to find a group, dungeon crawls, no crafting, limited content, and simple game play drive me away feeling very disappointed.
My third pick would be EQII. Made it to level 20, logged in one friday evening, spammed for a group for 3 hours, logged out and cancelled my account.
Mine would definitely be Asheron's Call 2. Hands down. I played it on release and could only say WTF to the whole thing. Odd visuals, laggy performance, crappy crafting, poor combat. Ugh. I can't think of one positive thing to say about it.
I will not put up SWG since it was, for years, a pretty good game. When it turned into dog poo, I just turned it off, it had nothing to do with SWG anymore. But for years it was not the worst game ever.

Originally posted by anarchyart None of them I would consider my least favorite. But then, I tend to try and stay happy and not constantly bitch and whine. Carry on.
Nah, you just like to bitch and whine about everyone else.
There are some games that I follow for a long time, anxiously awaiting release, that have a lot of promise in pre-development. But then the gamemaker announces before launch that it is going in a direction which ruins it for me. So I never even get to play the game before they spoil it. An example would be Vanguard: Saga of We Hate Everyone But 133t Dudes.
There are some MMOs that the moment I logged on I could see that they either sucked or were not what I was looking for. In those cases, although I regret buying the game at least they didn't waste a lot of my time. An example would be FFXI. I played that for about an hour before it became a coaster.
Then there are MMOs that gave me a lot of enjoyment before ultimately the gamemaker ruined them or failed to provide a quality high end game. That means that I enjoyed it while it lasted but ultimately came away with a bad taste in my mouth and my time invested. An example would be WoW.
All of those are disappointing, but they are not the worst by far. The worst ones are when the game sucks but they lie to you over and over and over about how they are going to make it cool. So you aren't having much fun but you stick around, pay more money, and waste more time only to realize it was all a mean spirited, vicious lie. Which makes the worst MMO of all time:
SWG.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
3. Guild Wars-no monthly fees is probably the key reason this isn't on the very bottom of my list. Instances are fun, but when your game is NOTHING BUT INSTANCES...that crap. I like to interact, I like going to a place where I need to get a item and luckly finding all the creatures already killed and the item out in plain site
2. COH/COV-I wanted to play this game before I even understood what MMORPG meant. I wanted superpowers...I wanted a cool looking costume...but I also wanted a GOOD GAME!!! WTF!?!?!? Boring quests, terrible use of superpowers, annoying level system, and why was designing my character the only part that made this game enjoyable?
And...the MMORPG you will find at the very bottom of my list...
1. EVE-BORING!!! The tutorial was too long and tedious. Controling the ship is like driving a rock, can only do one thing at a time. And I'm sorry, but why am I mining floating bean bag?....taking hours to learn something?...having pointless battles? For what? So I can a bigger ship so I can do MORE of the boring stuff for LONGER!?!?
4) Guild Wars - I bought this game thinking it would be nice for a change of pace from WOW. Especially since it had no monthly fee. In essence I would be able to play WOW and when I needed a break....I could play some GW. After giving this game a week to pan out.....I havent played it since. Its just totally boring.....the instancing makes this game suck even more. If this game had no instancing....It would probably be pretty damn good.
3)COH - Best part of this game was the character creation....nuff said about that.
2)Lineage2- This game was #1 on my list of most hated games. Upon release, this game had more farmers than any game known to man. It was next to impossible to level without running into bots or farmers who would ks you. On top of the ksr's, they would also grief you non stop to leave the area. Number 1 problem, the farmers didnt care about leveling...so they didnt care if you killed them or not. So if you were stupid enough to go red.....not only would you lose xp, you would probably lose gear as well. Not to mention, Lineage 2 was such a grind....no one wanted to take the time to try an run off farmers. If you did, you would be losing alot of leveling time....not to mention, standoffs with farmers happened almost daily. Even the starter zones used to be FFA PVP, and higher levels would gank newbs all day long.....I wonder how many customers NCSOFT lost because of that.....then they finally changed it, soemtime after I left. Most of the bad reviews Lineage2 has gotten was becasue the reviewers played during that time period. I wonder if the game is still as bad as it used to be.
1) SWG(current)- game sucks and is only a shadow of its former self. This game was highly emersive and had a ton of potential. But due to the inept management of this game....it has gone south FAST. They failed to fix bugs or balance the game for roughly 2 years. All they did was push content until they had a huge problem. Not really sure who's johnson this guy smokes......but he should have been fired looooong ago.
Current SWG. It was imho the best game out there. Now it's a gross mutant descendant.
Original SWG: 32 character-independent professions, each with many varied skills which could be combined countless times to produce the character which best suited you atm. "Tired of being a master commando? Try creature handling this time around!" It was incredibly versatile.
Current SWG: 9 "iconic" professions. Once you pick, u are put on a path of linear progress. In other words, if ur character is born a medic, it will be a medic for as long as it lives. Restrainment and wow copy-cat mentality.
I don't think I even need to talk about gameplay, that just sunk like a stone.
Eve... I hated all the jumping just to get to the boring auto-circle and auto-attack combat.
I agree with everyone who has said that current SWG is a shadow of it's former self... but for the same price as Eve I would rather get SWG and just play the whole game in space.... since that is the one part they havent managed to totally ruin.
SWG is easily my favorite (pre-cu) and least favorite (present-day) major mmo. It went from being an immersive part of the SW universe to something that looks like quake with lightsabers.
Eve - I've never played it, but I hate the people who jump into threads not about Eve and tell everybody how stupid they are for not playing it. Every thread, I count how many posts before the Eve superiority complex derails it.
WoW - I like the game fine, though it quickly wears out its welcome. But if Eve is the creepy psycho cult of mmorpgs, WoW is the GAT forum. Unmoderated idiocy. The Night Elf starter area gave me an aneurism.
Guild Wars - I hate thw instancing, but post-Searing Ascalon is the longest, ugliest, most unplayable zone in any game EVER.
Lineage 2.I couldn't bare it.Grind till you would have a stress headaches, then have someone greif ya and have to grind back to where you were before. Most expensive gear I have ever seen. It's the only game I had to go back a level .I actually lost my characters pants in that game ,but was able to find them before someone else did.The first pet in the game is virtually worthless.
World of Warcraft. I hate the bait and switch endgame, where all of a sudden you need 39 other people to do anything. I hate Battlegrounds. WoW is not even remotely designed for balanced, interesting PvP.. the PvP system is horrible. I hate how the entire game is designed around giving bragging rights and e-peen enlargements to the people who are the most willing to endlessly repeat mind numbing, static, never changing instances. I hate how the end game design is to never let you reach the end game, by releasing instances unfinished, buggy, and impossible to complete until the next instance beyond it comes out. I hate login queues. I hate clueless game masters. I hate inexcusably unstable servers. I hate maintenance day. I hate that I played the game at all, and that I just wasted 30 seconds of my life complaining about how much I hate it.

Post NGE Star Wars Galaxies.
New releases wise. Auto Assault. Such console crap tbh.
In fact both these games have been made or released as so called mmos when they are just really console multiplayer games.

I would have to break this into categories.
