I mean why stop the farming, if you stop the farming, then you'll lose many many accounts. Also, since the farmers are profitable, it seems that they're allowing more players to stay interested in the game.
All in all, it's probably more money for them, so why would they crack down on it, or even actively try to curb it?

Farming is not against the eula. What is, is selling/buying in-game adena using real $$. Farming is not against the eula... botting is. What frustrates everyone is these external sources influence the game at such an extreme level. Yes, ncsoft occasionally has a mass banning, but it's so profitable externally, that if they ban 1000 accounts, you just get 1000 more accounts created.
The problem I have with this ncsoft not doing enough, is they have a duty to uphold the eula. The game's eula prohibits "ebaying" and "botting", therefore ncsoft needs to spend the effort to eliminate it from the game. If ncsoft had NOT put this in the eula, it would be acceptable behavior.
There are several ways that could curtail this type of activies, besides what ncsoft is doing:
1. in each game packet, put a unique identifier associated with the computer.. such as the mac address (or if something else exists even more unique)... ban this identifier, as well as the account, along with the credit card (if used).
2. ncsoft could become an EXTERNAL buyer/seller of adena. If anyone attempts to buy adena/etc from them (ncsoft), ban them. If anyone attempts to sell them (ncsoft) adena/etc, ban them.
3. Post all account game names that have been banned on the lineage2 web site.
I think this would really cut down on those that cheat (bot/ebay/etc). There was talk of a class action lawsuit at one time against ncsoft, because of their lack luster attempts. Where that stands, I do not know... haven't heard anything for quite some time.
