That's the reason WHY people like it because it is close to EQ but supposedly with a lot more improvement.  It's not another anti-social,  watered down game like WoW.

    A couple of thoughts.

So Sigil choose SOE for a publisher. Or rather , Microsoft did obviously not care enough to beat SOEs price. Neither did NC or any other publisher.

    This can mean 2 things.
MS did not see enough potential. Maybe they are wrong.
Maybe Vanguard is not the holy grail of MMORPGs.
    Time will tell.

However, to all the Sigil/Vanguard fanbois out there. Sigil is obviously not out to show SOE how a game is made. They are not out there to bring back the good old times of EQ. They are out to make money. If you think different your simply blind. Vanguard was hyped from the beginning as a game made by people who are disgusted with what SOE did to EQ. Now those people end up working for SOE - again. Looks like paying the bills is more important than crusading against the evil of SOE.

I am quite sure if Vanguard will not fullfill the hopes people have on the game, SOE will be blamed for altering the games spirit and so on. But those people should consider blaming Sigil for selling out. But then, those folks at Sigil, arent they the same people who sold Verant to SOE in the first place ?

    Just my 2 (euro)cents

    Vanguard = DOA

It wont have a superior customer base now, too many people out there just dont like SOE in any part of the game even if  SOE was just packaging the game.

And your right on one thing, it wont be the BIG ONE now. SOE invovlement in anyway was a NEGATIVE and not a POSITIVE.

Believe me, someone out there made some BIG MONEY on this current event happening and thats what it is truley all about to them corporations.

    Sony?

    SONY?!

Companies "like Sony" are to blame???

(BTW, I believe this discussion centers around Sony Online Entertainment, not Sony, Inc.)

World problems listed are caused by very complex socio-economic and socio-political dynamics, NOT some simplistic, stereotypic, over-generalizing political "philosophy" that "big corporations are Evil Incarnate."

    My suggestion:  Increase your dosage.

SOE is a part of Sony, Inc.  You know that saying about bad apples, not falling far from the tree?  Sony, Inc has some pretty slight of hand, and down right bad business practices, as well as policies.  Yet, you seem to think that SOE a division of Sony would be any different? lol

Vanguard is supposed to be "EQ1 Done Right", so of course its similar to the EQs. The selling point of it all along has been that it's going to play a lot like EQ, but stay true to the 'vision'. The problem, of course, is that when most people talk about what went wrong with EQ1, they can sum it up with "SOE broke the game".

I mean, probably half the people who even recognize Brad's name or know any background on Sigil absolutely hate and despise SOE. Seems like they're blowing what little name recognition they have.
