I am sorry, but to me SWG is the greatest mmorpg to date that ever existed. Every single other mmorpg is the same thing, grind, grind, grind .... you get tired after you maxed out your first toon, and start thinking of getting rid of the account after the second. SWG has so much depth, you can level a toon on the ground, questing or instance running, you can build your city / house. if you get tired of that you can go into space and spend days up there in combat, or you can go to the cantina, and just chill and relax for hours at a time.... you can also spend days running around looking for the perfect quality resources, this game keeps me busy all the time, i never feel that i am repeating the same thing over and over again as i do in other mmorpg's. I don't care if you guys don't like it, what bothers me is that you haters seem to feel it is your duty to inform everyone else that you have been had and seem to want to make sure no one else plays it either. not a single person on this planet is the same, what you like someone else might hate, so why advise people to not try something ? say your say, and then end with something like ( i hate this game, but you may like it ) or whatever.
Fact is that i love this game, and i will play it for very long time to come, to me it is the single greatest game that ever existed and nothing anyone will say will change my mind on that. IT IS NOT THE SAME GAME AS WHEN YOU LEFT AT NGE, SO STOP BULLSH!TTING PEOPLE AND SAYING NGE KILLED IT, alot has happened since then, just because you hate it don't mean everyone else has to as well, it is a mmorpg, and as such will never die until the dev's choose to make it die, there will allways be people playing it because taste differs, because every year the next generation of kids start getting into online gaming, the dev's already made it known that they have big plans for the game ... and there is not a damn thing any of you can do about it except sit and whine day after day while people like me laugh at you while we enjoy this great game.
All the latest changes have really got this game moving again. I have seen more people play in the last 6 months then I have in a long time. The changes being made seem to come from sound judgement they are clean patches and the "chapter" system really tells you whats changed how its moving forward.
I quit playing when they removed Creature Handler over a year ago. They have now put that back in the form of Beast Master. You have to work pretty hard to get creatures now but its worth it .
I like the new gun boats each having something like 5+ turrets and are fun to roll thru heavy populated areas and just lay waste.
All in all I am pleased they have slowed down on drastic changes and focused on adding content free of charge. Not something you see much of anymore. Now a days games make a couple changes and you have to pay another 50 bucks to get the latest toys or fall behind.
I did have a small problem the other day. I sent a trouble ticket thru the SWG/Sony site and within 10 hour all my stuff was fixed and they put me back to the proper level after my respeck (change character class in game) I have had a great overall experience with SOE and SWG this time around and they will continue to get my business as long as they continue to do a good job . If its been over a year give them another chance where else can you play 5+ mmo's for $30/mo?
There have been so many changes to this game it's just plain too confusing to figure it all out. Too many threads, blogs, and announcements about all the rule changes makes it nearly impossible for anyone who hasn't been a forum monger to understand how to play.
To me, this game is far more complicated and byzantine than Pre-CU ever was. Because at least with Pre-CU, people had a rulebook, a holocron help system, and a firm baseline in which to understand all the tweaks. These days though, the changes are so radical and without context, it is difficult for anyone to understand how to play.
