Galaxies Bombs at E3: It's a matter of time.

The fanboi's can't deny it, SWG BOMBED at E3. This was SOE / LA's last chance to get excitement back into the game, which they said they were going to do, and instead they dropped the ball. Even the Offical Boards are flooded with disappointed players, and this is after the great player purge & banning.

Quite frankly, it was clear from what little effort both SOE & LA put into SWG this E3 that they have writen it off. It's dead to them, and they will let it die.

They claimed this E3 would "Shake-Up SWG as we knew it", and instead, they've offered re-hashed content that even the forum Fanboi's expect to be a lagfest.

So what will happen next? Will it shut down? Will it slowly die as a joke? Will they admit they were wrong and offer Classic Servers? They've lost everything, so they may not look at it as a loss to do so now, but I doubt it. Their arrogance is their downfall. They will NEVER admit they screwed up, and because of that, a game that would have gone on for years will now die disgraced.

Congrat's SOE / LA, you're Offically the laughingstock of the ENTIRE Gaming world.

Can you give us a little information about what their presence at E3 was like and why it bombed as you say instead of just another useless thread? Not trying to be condescending either, I would simply like some info instead of reading another "This game is dead" post.

So hillarious. Whats even more hillarious is that I wont be honoring what I said in a post a week or so ago, Duncan will know what Im talking about 

Anyways, I really expected much more from this, even from SoE. I mean they cancel an expansion project for this pile of shit event, LA shows up with like 4 games and an expansion to EaW. 1 of them is for cell phones which equals instant waste of time and money, 1 is some dumbass lightshow/music thing and its on the PSP which also means instant failure, 1 is a jock of Roller Coaster Tycoon, and the other is an unnammed Star Wars game, which promises to deliver the Star Wars experience unlike anyother Star Wars game. In other words its just a pile of rehashed ideas and prefrabed textures pulled from a previous SW game, and thrown into a new box.

Both these companies can go away. They dont deserve any vulgar words from me, all I have to tell them is to just go away.

If the current players haven't already figure out SOE tricked them into waiting so they could keep subs, it's their own bloody fault. They've done it too many times now for the average joe to not notice it.

There are plenty of posts and threads all over these and the offical forums that talk about what they showed. Basiclly, the saviour of SWG and the "Game Changing" announcement was a one-time GCW player event.

You forgot to add that the servers population has to work together to complete a chain of quest before it will even start, and then it is setup for a certain date, which will probably be 3 months after the quest is done to keep people waiting and subed.

And then after the event is done and Restus is destroyed, it turns into a pvp battlefield where you can experience the buggy combat and BH bounty system, as well as pathing issues up the ass.

I think the sad thing is just how poor this effort is. It just screams SOE saying "We're not going to invest anymore Dev's or capital into this game to take this crappy system and make it into something great.... Why? Because all we want is your cash while we lead you on...".

In fairness, I don't really think that SOE or LA ever threw a monumental show at ANY E3 for SWG.

When EQ2 was in beta (2004?), I know that SWG got jack coverage despite JTL. I think there were like 3 comps set up in SOE's booth for JTL, and the remaining area was all EQ2.

Last year, it was the same business, except they were showcasing an EQ2 expansion.

This year? Haven't even heard of the SWG or EQ2 coverage in any length, outside of these forums. Nintendo showed up with this little Wii thing and it's all anyone is talking about. That and the PS3's graphics capacity (which was just one demo). Heck I only heard one thing about Quake Wars, and even that wasn't good.

Anyway, it's no real surprise if a lot of games got swept under the rug this year. However, SWG's demo was just nothing innovative -- a clear Ahn'Qiraj rip off, straight outta WoW.

Yea I mean, Smed or whoever had put so much emphasis on E3 "changing" the game that I couldnt help but believe them one more time, guess I learned my lesson, and hopefully the majority of the current players have as well.

Im a major Star Wars fan, and the way LA, LucasFilm and SoE are treating the franchise here recently has just pissed me off. From SWG, to the horrible transitions of the trilogy to DVD, the "new" DVD versions comming out soon, and just plain to many Star Wars games. Instead of letting the legend live as a legend, these companies are taking advantage of it left and right up and down, to a point where im getting sick of Star Wars, I used to watch at least 1 movie once a week. Its been about 3 months since ive watched one.

Big Imp/Reb NPC battle before the nuke goes off.
Then it'll be a quest area and some kind of Battleground.

i took that from the new article on this site.  the link to comment on the article is jacked, so i figured i'd post in this thread.


pre-cu, and even pre-nge is what made swg unique in the mmo universe.  cu jacked it up, and nge destroyed it.  i had thought that only the people running EQ were morons, i see it's an epidemic throughout the sony corporation. 


after having played eq, eq2, guild wars and swg (swg about 4 different times, kept going back hoping), and seeing how little they pay attention to the player base; i will not only never even try an soe game again, but i will have very little to do with any game that isn't responsive to the players.  and by players i mean they completely ignore fanbois, and they have interaction in a useful fashion with their actual playerbase.

What's funny is it seems SOE fanned the flames of discontent more than anything.

Im curious if they had anything on Planetside at E3 or have they just completely abaonded that game alltogether?

SWG will go to the consule.

Its prolly a good business move for $OE since the current game is crap in comparison to how it used to be...and when you compare it to the better MMOs out there.....as well as a dozen more comming....

SWG is dead and a move to the consule is the only thing to save it.

A console move won't save it. Console players have even less tollorance for buggy, broken crap than we do. If anything it will make them look like bigger fools, and chase even more people away from SOE.

Because the forums have always been a GREAT representation of people in-game  People I talk to in game ARE excited about the Restuss event. 

Bombed at E3?  Hardly, they achieved what they set out to do, which was to show this new event.  It had been well known for at least the last 2 months that this was what they were taking to E3 and SOE nor LA were there especially for SWG.  The game is nearly 3 years old, there's no way it can possibly compete for news titles with the likes of the Wii which are new and fresh.
