Vanguard equals the same old crap but in a different can and damnit I want something new for dinner!
My hopes are going with Conan and I'm definatly keeping an eye on what Bioware is cooking up. Innovation is whats needed for the mmo genre, not the same old EQ clone rehashed over and over and over and over again.

No Holifeet, we are not clear.
Your problem is, that you are so selfconvinced by the unreal stuff you are posting, that you even refuse to THINK about what other people post.
You are ignorant, every discussion with you is worthless - as long as it isnt sharing your opinion. You are not "set" for discussions.
Expect me to continue reading every single posting you made and "discuss" it, whenever you continue your "Sigil is the greatest and you SoE-bent-over peeps are deluded"-tour.
Come up with facts and stuff you can acutally backup. Your assumptions and hope in disguise of "facts" are far from reality. You need to learn that all youve posted so far is nothing more then hope.
But you are NOT going to jump on peoples coming from a long-year "relationship" with SoE telling you actually whats the real deal is, ok ?
K tnx bye...
Edit - PS.: Dont get me wrong, i dont "hate" SoE categorically, i do not hate Sigil (i even dont KNOW them). I would be VERY happy, if Vanguard is operated well and becomes a GOOD game worth to pay for.
But you MUST understand, that a beaten wife (aka SoE customer) is NOT going again (10th time) to believe, that the beating is over now. Its NOT - no matter how much and how deep you stick your head up their...
May 5, 2006 – Carlsbad & San Diego, CA – Sigil Games Online and Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced that Sigil is working with Microsoft Game Studios on an arrangement to acquire the rights to its highly anticipated massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. These efforts have resulted in a tentative agreement for Vanguard to be co-published by both Sigil Games Online and SOE. All three companies will be showing the game at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) as they work closely together for a successful transition. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is scheduled to launch this winter.
“As the development process is ongoing and constantly shifting, it became clear that MGS and Sigil had varying visions and direction for the title’s development,” said Brad McQuaid, CEO of Sigil Games Online. “In the best interest of Vanguard, it was decided that we would buy back the publishing rights from Microsoft.”
As co-publisher of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Sigil assumes greater control of marketing and PR, while maintaining responsibility for game development, community relations, media relations, customer support, and quality assurance. Under the terms of the agreement, SOE will provide distribution, marketing, hosting and back-end support -- including billing and technical support -- for the game. Additionally, SOE is tentatively planning on adding Vanguard, upon its release,to SOE’s Station Access™ subscription plan. Station Access allows players to enjoy all of SOE’s MMO titles for one low monthly price.
“We are very excited to be working with so many old friends at Sigil,” said John Smedley, president, Sony Online Entertainment. “Vanguard looks beautiful and has an incredibly rich game world. It’s the type of game that will appeal directly to SOE’s hundreds of thousands of players and should fit in perfectly with the current line-up of games available in Station Access.”
”This decision was made mutually by Sigil and Microsoft, in the best interest of the long-term goals for the title,” said Phil Spencer, General Manager at Microsoft Game Studios. “As a key Windows development partner, we will continue to work with Sigil to ensure Vanguard’s ongoing success.”
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is the next generation of massively multiplayer online games. The journey takes place in the fantasy setting of Telon, a vast and ancient world of magic, intrigue and adventure. Facing the challenges of a war torn world, the diverse people here struggle to rebuild their once great civilizations. A fragile alliance has been struck, with the lands set upon by invading forces, the races must band together to survive.
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is currently in a closed beta phase. The game will remain available via Fileplanet for existing beta testers during the transition to SOE. New information will be sent out to testers as the changeover occurs.
Read the bold bit.
Also, as I have said elsewhere. I have played SOE games for a long time. I know the experiences you speak of because I have faced them. Do not take me for naive when it comes to SOE. I know their history, I have just chosen to understand that everyone makes mistakes. There is just nothing to suggest that they will be given the chance to make those mistakes with Vanguard. The deal, as it stands, does not give them the opportunity to do so. The ball is firmly in Sigil's hands.
If you chose not to believe the clauses of the deal then you may not believe the above. But that is where people are wrong.
Ok, i do understand now, i wasnt aware you are REALLY that naiv.
So you think "They wrote/said it, so it must be true" ? Oh...ok...ok:
Newsflash for you: Many companys and their PR announcements are far from what they do/happen in real. You should prepare yourself for a hard and tough world outhere...outside your "the sky is blue" bubble

If that is your outlook on life then there is nothing more I can say. I am sorry for you, I honestly am. You need to learn a little trust, or have you been rocked so hard in the past that trust is a forlorn hope?
I hope you decide to play Vanguard one day, and I hope you learn to love the game. If you see a Holifeet in game one day feel free to say hello because I will welcome you.
I gaved it 10 also. Can't wait to play it. Since it's gonna be on station access, i'm so happy... i already own EQ, EQ2 and SWG.... now with Vanguard, that plan will totally rock.

Originally posted by holifeet Yeah, well SOE aren't releasing the game are they? Sigil are. So there is nothing to worry about. That has been said a dozen times before, you would have thought that people would understand it by now.
Holifeet, are you really that naiv ? This is a serious question, are you ?
I am not naive at all. Why are you so untrustworthy is the more applicable question? Okay so you don't like or want to believe SOE, but why Sigil?
Exactly what has been said that makes you think that this must be some elaborate plan to rob us of our money and make a second rate game?
My guess is that it is called paranoia.
What would make you realise, and believe, that SOE are not now making Vanguard? When the game comes out and you see that they aren't will you say you were wrong? Will you say you were wrong in three years when Sigil still own Vanguard? Will you sit there believing that Vanguard is a damn fine game but won't play it because you still believe that the evil eye of SOE is directing from behind the curtain? My guess is you will play and then pretend there was never any worries.
Oh, and if I am naive because I trust Sigil, then that means there are perhaps another 50,000 naive souls out there.
The guy does not like SOE because they broke the only game he knows from them, SWG. He cannot accept that is game was broken since day 1.
Interesting side note here, not that long ago Turbine/SOE teamed up to market thier AC games. People are screaming they cannot get their hands on this game (which is established and around for years now).
I do hope SOE does a much better job this time! Such an impressive marketing/distribution plan that was. (detect a hint of sarcasm here?)
We see where it got them. They are now going to sell cd keys outside of SOE.
This is nothing to do with Vanguard or the quality of the game, but more about Sony's marketing/publishing abilities.
One player's great game is another players derisive snort! http://www.darthmyr.com for free guild forums
Some people can not be convinced and will just have to learn the ways of SOE/big business for themselves. Some people think that others are bashing SOE just because they changed SWG and have no clue that its really all the lies and out right fraud they pulled on people to keep getting their money.
If this game goes on station access then you can bet your ass that sooner or later SOE will have some type of input in Vanguard during the corse of its opperation. I'm just wondering how long its going to take befor SOE starts to make its move if they haven't already.
Anyone who believes the tripe that comes out of Smedly's mouth is a fool and gets what will be comming to them, an empty wallet.

See it that way: Im a pretty trusty person - too much even sometimes. But i do NOT give "blind trust" to some1 who arsed me more then once - that credit you wont get from me again, you need to RE-EARN it.
This avoids simply the unwanted feeling of being "enlarged" in your back region over and over.
There is nothing you need to feel sorry for. But its hard to explain someone how something tastes: You need to learn that by yourself.
