Yes I do believe in people being punished for hurting animals. The reason for this is because animals are living things just like humans and like all living things they deserve to be treated with respect and not to be hurt by people. Like some other person said in this topic, if you do not respect animals life then you might start not to respect humans life and then you might not respect life alltogether. So many people these days think that just because a animal is not human we can do whatever we want to to it but that's just stupid. In the older days, when someone would die we would be like, "Oh no! that's so sad" but now we do not even care anymore. For example, I saw this thing where this guy killed a cat and when people heard about it they were like " Oh well, who cares." I think we need to show a lot more respect to animals and humans.
