Mostly true, yeah. If you're poor you have to solve your problems by being clever or working hard to fix them, if you're rich you just throw money at it until the problems goes away, or even worse is to pay someone to fix it for you. What do you learn living like that? Certainly being rich is more comfortable, but some people prefer to have larger goals in life than that. Many societies place a stigma on being poor, it makes the people at the top feel they are better humans simply for having wealth, as though having extra cash implies extra humanity. An even worse travesty is that so many poor people buy into the charade and let themselves feel lessened. I've never met a person above moderate means that I thought was a decent, likable human being and have never felt the desire to be friends with them. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I can only speak from my own experience.
Err, I would hire Brad McQuaid and make him do SOLOING offlines RPGs, than after 2-5 such projects, I would put him in charge of a MMO and see if he learns something!
Honestly, I would not change much in my life, with the exception that I would hire folks to launch video game companies, MMOs and Strategies (GBT) because these are the games I love and I would either publish them or lazily sign with a publisher who is evil and just focus on the developpment...I mean, 1 billion, I dunno, that is a LOT...and good games don't require much money to developp no matter what SoE and Blizzard may want you to believe...
I know I kinda lack vision for such a grand scape, but at least improving the entertainment world would be a nice thing to do, since I am kinda clueless on major stuff like richs and poor folks and econimics truth...employees would be extremely nicely treated and there would be a slight % of the profits of any game going back directly to them, it would saddly spoil some of them after been successful, but it would also make them very motivated for the current project, if they are spoiled after and quit, 5 years of their best would always be better than 30 years of average...and if they go because they have money and don't want to work, it open the door to newbies and fresh ideas, kinda hard to always adapt but well, that is the best road. (the % thing would not be in the contract, it would be a willingly benefit been given by the company later, I don't trust folks enough to write something and then risk been sued because folks change numbers and everything, I like to be nice with folks, but I don't like to expose myself to danger and troubles unecessarily, many employees would not believe it until it happen since not in the contract, but well...that is the nature of the human beeings)
I know I wouldn't be the best boss, since I would not be there everyday, I would come and bump around and folks would prolly be stressed and thinking I am a clown, but a clown they want on their good side and that would be fine. They would have a LOT of freedom, but that would prolly upset them because on some points, they may have none and it would contrast a lot with what they will be used to (for example no game would ever feature any form or raiding enforcement and that would be adamant hehe, but even if I disagree with grouping enforcement, I wouldn't prevent it, I would advise against it, but no more and I will support the team decision on that). I know, this is FAR from a great boss, that is why it is better that other more responsible folks manage such stuff!
But no, I would not buy a manor, no swimming pool...yeah I would prolly upgrade my standards a little, but nothing that fancy, pointless and lot of maintenance...and I would prolly just buy the best computer and have a tech guy in charge of making my gaming room extremely nice! Yeah...something unbelievable...yet not THAT expansive compare to what other folks would do.
I would really feel safe however, so I would freely dedicate myself to games in general, with no self restrains, no concern about anything else but games...kinda what I am doing now, but with more freedom and as little other concerns as possible.

Has anybody found out this thread is about money and not other things? We are talking about money and having lots of it. If you go to a poor person with your money problems...then good luck. Poor people in relationship to money, are lazy, unmotivated, crazy spender, credit charger,....ect
If you think poor people are good teachers of money then why don't you go to them for your money counseling? Their cheap! Rich people have donated 1,000,000,000x more money to charity than you everybody on the forums put together. So you can get all jealous and call them egotistical but you are probably talking about the rich man's money leechers (family).
I will give one exception though. There are some people who simply don't care about money, they love the simple life and don't care about being dirt poor. I actually feel these people are very enlightened individuals. (Read my sig)
Unfortunately a lot of poor people live in the city (need money to do that) and do crap jobs and begin commiting crimes/drugs and doing shit like that.
Bottom line is if you want to learn money skills go to a rich man. If you want to learn how to live on the streets or grow a garden then go to a poor person.
I don't think a rich person is better than a poor person but they both have strengths and weaknesses.

This may sound odd or "anti-American" or "anti-capitalist" but I am of the opinion that money in great quantities is more of a curse than it is a blessing. Think about it... If you had a billion dollars, you would have every kind of relative, investor, charity or con-artist looking to get their share of your 1 billion dollars. Then it comes down to who you can trust with the handling of that much money and who you can't trust. Being working class or middle class has a set of priorities and rules that we all have come to know and are familiar with. When you suddenly find yourself with a large amount of money, you are entering a different realm where the rules and priorities are very much different than the ones you knew before. The question then is can you adapt to this new situation before it either kills you or leaves you worse off then when you were just a working class or middle class stiff??
