SoE is gonna need all the money they can get right now, since their parent Sony just pissed away millions and millions on Blu-ray. So I really dont think they believe customers are the enemy, right now at least.

Even you guys must admit that SOE has more than one type of customer. Customers are not their enemy. Outspoken loudmouths who stir up trouble for them are their enemy. One of these is but a small subset of the other. I'll leave it as an excerise to the reader to figure out which.

How do you define this?  You mean, people who bought one product and were force to accept another is stiring up trouble?

There you go with that "force" thing, as if SOE is coming to your house and stealing your lunch money. You aren't forced to do jack shit. Stop acting like a spoiled brat.

    whoa...whoa....whoa....whoa........whoa......

Lets say I love SWG and decide to subscribe for a year. Then the devs go and totally change the game to something I don't enjoy playing 1 month into my subscribtion with no warning prior to me subing for a year. Since I have already payed for a years service I am literally FORCED to pay for something I no longer enjoy.

Is it so hard to understand why some people are pissed?

You dont think soe created trouble when they used their paying customer's money to rework the game into something that targed people who didnt play meanwhile effectively negating their current customers' achievements and investments, all the while telling them to shut up and like it?

In other words, our subscriptions did not go towards fixing the current game like they were supposed to, but they were used to benefit those people who were not playing and *MIGHT* pay if changes were made. I'd call that stealing my lunch money.

And i'll say it again, for someone who supposedly hates people insulting each other, you sure do throw alot of nice names around.

mmo's arent really comparable, because they are more like an ongoing investment. You pay the initial 50 dollars for the client, but the monthly fee is for the continuation of the service for your benifit (otherwise, why pay, right?). It would be like me giving my money to an investment firm, expecting a return, only to see that firm do something with my money to benifit someone else. I dont have to tell you that most people play mmo's for the long run, to invest their time into the community and character. If an mmo player knew that whatever items collected, whatever achievements made, would be negated in 6 months time, would they keep paying and playing? That was never supposed to be a risk in mmo's, because most mmo's are designed as investments, and most mmo developers respect that. Most respectable mmo developers make changes with their current paying customers in mind first, because they are the ones paying their salary.

Wrong, many people canceled only to find $OE would charge them for another month or more a week later. $OE usualy refuses to re-imberse the ex-customer and blame it on the system, I'd call that theft. When I canceled I went and got a new credit card from my bank just incase, since I'd heard so many $OE horror stories.

I agree and you're correct, but many people were charged after canceling the account. I'll type that again in caps THEY CANCELLED THE ACCOUNT AND THEN $OE CHARGED THE CANCELED ACCOUNT WEEKS LATER, AFTER THE ACCOUNT WAS CANCELED.

Not to flame you, but alot of people pre-paid for an entire year just before the announcement of the NGE.  The way I see it....they paid for a year, so they can still slam SWG for another 6 months.  They paid for that right.

That's exactly what happened to me, almost a month after I cancelled my account. Then customer service spent almost the entire conversation trying to get me to "come back".

Unlike others, however, I don't actually hate SOE. I just rarely do business with them. If they created the greatest MMORPG of all time, I'd probably still sign up with them, but be very careful about how I end the relationship. Fortunately, they don't even have the "kind of okay" MMORPG of all time, so that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Incorrect. SOE approaches ALL their customers with an adversarial relationship. Major changes to the game are prepared in secret and rushed live with almost no warning. They do this because they know the change will be unpopular with their customers, but they don't care. They think they can change the game and gain a few subs, at the expense of existing players. They do treat their customers like they are the enemy. maybe this isn't true for all their games, but it is certainly true for SWG, and it is the biggest problem I have with sony, and the reason i will not ever play one of their games again.

And this concludes our daily "seriously guys, get over it" post.

And now that I've forced you to read this...  Go make me a sandwich!

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

Yes, but are you one of those many people? You can't be pissed off on behalf of an indefinite pronoun.

I HATE that excuse. People use it so damn often, and it is just wrong. Let's ban Grand Theft Auto because some people can't handle the violence. Some people? Which people? Point them out to me. Think of the kids! Which kids? Mine? Yours?  Every kid on the planet? Most of them play GTA just fine.

If you had a problem with SOE's billing (I have not, and I've cancelled and subscribed many, many times to several different games, including the Station Pass further complicating the process), then you have a right to complain. But if you didn't, then don't use it as an EXCUSE for your own righteous indignation. I have a sneaky suspicion that your MANY isn't quite as MANY as you think it is - mainly because you have no quantitative evidence one way or another except what some random stranger in a forum complained about and exterpolated it a thousandfold, and as we all know, complaining anonymous forum goers NEVER exaggerate...

There's that indefinite pronoun defense again. A lot of people, huh? Are you one of them? If not, then you can't use their plight as a reason for your own anger. They aren't just strangers to you, most of them exist only in your head. You can't be pissed over your own diseased fantasy.

How? Did those 2 years suddenly cease to exist for those people? Did SOE go back in time and make it unfun? SOE changed the future, not the past. You can't hold them accountable for the time you played by choice.

(Oh, and there's that "some folks" thing. I guess you don't think SOE ruined up to 2 years for yourself? But other people... yeah. So it's worth being pissed off on their behalf, I guess... even though they don't exist?)

I don't know about SOE, but Nancy McIntyre seems to think that customers who can read are a bad thing.
