Did I miss something or was there no text entry at all ? So they are basically looking at your system, some economic issues, and what you've played in the past. They didn't even ask about prior beta testing. . .
That tells me they are going to let in a lot of people, otherwise they would discriminate a little more.

Almost always the first wave of outside (non-dev) testers is fairly small, 100-500. This being a slightly more hyped game I would expect that to raise a little, but not much.

Yeah, but it doesnt make sense. If the sample is small, and you decide to award based on merit, then you need a text field to sort out those who know wtf they are talking about from those who don't. . .
Don't forget, this is the second generation. . . tons of mmorpgs are coming out, the rules are changing. Maybe they did alot of typical closed beta testing back in alpha. . .

I've always thought those text fields were pointless anyway...
How can they prove any of it? Anyone can say they've beta'd XXX number of games, no beta app I've ever seen with those fields have ever asked for any kind of proof to back it up, and I figure anyone filling one out is going to think that putting more games in that field will increase their chances.

Blizzard is looking to see if wow will run on a variety of hardware, the more odd ball your hardware is the better your odds of getting in.
In the last couple weeks they may wish to do some stress testing and open it up to a couple thousand but out of the millions of apps they have, your odds are only slightly better than winning the lotto.
Best of luck though.

That's quite a statement, C_G, what are you basing it on ?
As for the text fields, it more about how well you communicate and what your intentions are, not what you claim to have beta'd before. The guy that says "I want phat lewt" is eliminated if you know what I mean. . .

Yeah, I can see that, and for that reason I agree with the "Why do you think you should be picked to test XXXXXX game" field. It can be used to determine alot of things. The usual text field of "What games have you tested int he past." is just pointless in my opinion tho.
