I recently moved to the middle of no where, and I do not have anyway of getting broadband internet service. I was wondering if mmorpgs are actually worth playing with 56k internet connection, or is the lag just unbearable. I've played other games like Raven Sheild and Americas Army without to much lag, but I don't know if a 56k would be any good at all when handling as many players as there are in mmorpgs. Well if anyone plays on 56k or knows what it is like, I would like to know if it is worth it?

I know several people who play DAoC on 56k just fine, same for Horizons...

I used to play UO and EQ on 56K (connecting at the blazing rate of about 26.4). Some MMOGs will be easier than others on the modem, but it's typically viable.
I wouldn't want to play a twitch-trigger MMOG like that, however...but MMOGs aren't typically about twitch-trigger skills.

Achievers realise that killers as a concept are necessary in order to make achievement meaningful and worthwhile (there being no way to "lose" the game if any fool can "win" just by plodding slowly unchallenged). -bartle
