How do you figure? The key is still $40-50 and its $15 a month after 2 years.
He didn't say it was really cheap, he said it was one of the least expensive MMORPGs compared to the other MMORPGs. Take a look at EQ2, CoH/CoV, DAoC, FFXI and so on - their prices are the same if not slightly more than WoWs.
EQ2 is $20, you can get KoS and EQ2 for $30 and its $15 a month. CoH/V are $30 each $15 a month, you can get DaoC and every expansion for $20, FFXI is like $30 for the game and all 3 expansions, and only $12 a month. What exactly are you guys trying to get at here? That WoW hasnt pulled out any expansions yet? How do you figure? The key is still $40-50 and its $15 a month after 2 years.

look around, you can get wow for less than $40 or $50. some store had it on sale for $20 recently.
god, nothing about WoW escapes the hate...

Yea...on SALE. Thats not susgested retail, and I said $40-$50 in my post. I play WoW so none of the hate is comming from me, im just pointing out that it isnt cheaper to play than most mmo's out there as was said.

Originally posted by Nullapax I also believe that at least half the subscribers would simply stop playing MMORPG's unless/until they found something equally easy to play.WoW isn't a bad game, the number of subscribers proves that, it's just that it is aimed at players who want maximum reward for minimum effort.I for one hope WoW continues forever. Not because I like it ..... I don't. I find the PvE bland and their idea of PvP is a pathetic joke.I hope WoW continues forever so that the millions of immature and weak minded people who flood the game at the weekends will stay away from everything else.If you like WoW then play it. What does it matter what other people think ?If you don't like WoW then don't play it. Enjoy
You know, I have to agree with the poster here.
Frankly, it seems that most MMO communities have grown in maturity level since WoWs release. All the Chuck Norris morons now flood to WoW, and it feels good. I like it when even when you log onto a game full of fr00bs like AO, the majority of the community is mature enough to hold a conversation.
Who knew that we could make the morons of our society PAY to be in an institution that keeps them separated from the rest of us
Today Blizzard Entertainment announced that they are pulling the plug on their enormously successful cooperative online game World of Warcraft. There was no apparent reason for the pullout other than a lack of interest in continuing the project from the developers. They regret having to do this to their loyal players and apologize for the hasty notice.
Okay, so let's pretend that's true for just a few minutes. Blizzard shuts down World of Warcraft.
What do you think would happen to the MMORPG genre after that? You can be specific about a certain game or games if you like, or just the genre as a whole. I'm just curious what you guys think would happen after all those players don't have a home anymore.
Would other games grow? Would other games try to appeal to the old WoW players by acting like WoW did? Would other games try to be different than WoW was? Would other games go back to being like they did before? ??????
Whatever you think would be the biggest noticable outcome, tell us.

News Flash: Today the president of Walmart announced that they were calling it quits for their enormously huge food and retail market chains worldwide. There was no apparent reason for the slashing of more then 10,000 Walmart stores except a lack of interest in continuing the chain of stores from the company. They regret having to do this to all their loyal shoppers and apologize for the hasty notice.
Okay, so let's pretend this is true for just a few minutes. Walmart calls it quits.
What do you think would happen to the shopping in America after that? You can be specific about a certain store or stores if you like, or just shopping as a whole. I'm just curious what you guys think would happen after all those shoppers no longer have a huge market with typically lower prices to shop at.
Would other stores see more crowded stores? Would other stores try to appeal the old Walmart fans? Would other stores try to be different then Walmart? Would other stores go back to higher prices without the competition? ???????
WoW is as likely to shut its doors on near 7 million subscriptions as Walmart is to shut down tomorrow. ...This has to be the most ridiculous question EVER asked on mmorpg.com !! Fun, but ridiculous. Hehe.
Originally posted by SnaKey They are gonna pull the plug on a game that makes more per month than most games make the entire time they are released. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. But anyway, I would suspect that 50% of the WoW crowd just stops playing MMOs. Then EQII and FFXI would take huge numbers. Then the rest would scatter throughout the rest of the MMOs that are out there.

Accually the Chuck Norris stuff has died down in WoW. Even WE are tired of it. I heard one person say it last month and...he's in a better place now.
And I don't where you guys are getting this but I barely see little kids or immature players. Atleast nothing I can't see in other games. Mabey I'm jusy lucky. Mabey you guys are sensative and call everyone childish who tries to make a joke. I dunno.

You must have the LFG channel turned off most of the time.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
Would other games grow? -Battle.net would grow again. Other MMOs might have sporadic growth, but I doubt one would suck up everyone.
Would other games try to appeal to the old WoW players by acting like WoW did? -SWG would go through yet a complete remake. Wouldn't be surprised to see greater advertisement campaigns across the board in the period right after WoWs death, but that's it.
Would other games try to be different than WoW was? -Probably not unless it was already their plan. Everquest clones will still be around even if one, like WoW, dies.
Would other games go back to being like they did before? ?????? -SWG might go back to its first iteration before doing a complete WoW makeover patch, just to upset people more.
See thay can't and won't do that, cuse if they did eveyone would complain and everyday Blizzard would loose millions, only way WOW would end is a newer and better mmo comes out or people stop playing WOW.
