I'm not putting down Lineage 2 just for the sake of it. I'm puting it down because there is so much hype around that game and when I played it I didn't see anything extraordinary that would explain why the hype started in the first place. I also see a lot of people giving into this hype and it reminds me a lot of EVE Online and Star Wars Galaxies.

But then again, according to you, I guess I was playing the "other" Lineage 2...

As for your lame attempt to discredit me because I got PKed one too many times, LMAO! Kid, I only got PKed once, when I was level 7ish, and the only reason it happened was because I faught against 2 people: a DE mage and a red DE archer. The archer died and the mage killed me. Seems like an even trade off to me. It was funny too because the red archer was running around screaming "HELP!" while his skill was charging up.

Again, I was not flaming. I'm posting my experience with Lineage 2 and my opinion of the said game after 3 weeks of playing.

I don't understand people sometimes. If you like the game, you're a fanboy. If you hate it, you're flaming and trolling. image

    i pick lin2..
mostly because i played all mmorpg u can think of, and my favorite and longest lasting was lineage 1.

maybe thats because it was my first mmorpg, i started that when it was in alpha, had to be ..5 or 6 years ag. if the economy and guilds are like lineage the bloodpledge then it will be great, still the best economy ive played.

actualy im most anticipating true fantasy online, i have very high hope for this game and really want to ride a broomstick ::::28::

I don't like the art design or the character design in Everquest II....and I just saw a couple of videos of Lineage II and it looked boring...

    So...I'll go with WoW.

I like the name, the art, the graphics, the story and the developers. Hope it turns out good.

EQ II: Is being made by SOE meaning their hyping the game up with high end graphics, bland gameplay and enough bugs for half the players to leave. (if you watch one of the combat videos it's bbboooorrriiinnngg for one, and second he couldn't attack half the monsters due to bugs.) image

WoW: They put alot of thought into it. PvP, arenas, fun quests thats available for solo, and guild quests, 2 different types of dungeons, cool races and classes, fast paced combat and running, lots of tradeskills as well as tons of transportation. Need i say more? image

UXO: Amazing combat and graphics i've ever seen, tons of enviroments, cool quests, although they have no tradeskills to the game and they expect you to make all your money off loot and quests so it might be pure fighting in the game. Also, you cannot kill anybody unless they accept it. Common, what happened to the good old days of UO when you'd actually FEAR walking into the woods for other players? image

L2: Played it at my friends house. The castle sieging is awesome, good graphics, although the levelling is waay too tedious for anyone to stick around past level 40. image

Theres more games but im too tired.

SOE = Sucks Out Entertainment  ..... What ever is fun for you in thier games will sooner or later be Nerfed ... they only know how to Take Away ... and when they Give it is a double edge sword .. beware it cuts you from Both sides ...

Look to the stars to know HE is with us. HE hung them as markers, of times and of seasons.

    Lineage II for sure!

Lineage II, EQ2 & WoW all have the threadmill thingy going on, but with Lineage II this pays of bigtime, cuz when you overthrow that castle with your clan and makes you able to fly on a drake you wont regret the threadmill. In EQ2/WoW I wonder what makes it all worth. Also what may not be as important as gameplay but still is a huge bonus, Lineage II has the best Graphics and I think Music as well.

    (Yes that is In-Game)

Edit: Hmm, just read the whole thing about Lineage II before me. Lets see what I got to say about it.

I noticed ppl saying that there was something wrong with the running animation of the Dark Elfs. Well... It is a fantasy game. Would be kind of boring if everything was just like in our world, thus not being fantasy. So how can some1 argue if it is wrong or right..? Just can only dislike at most. I must say I like it. Dark Elfs being more of a stealthy/assasin kind of nature works good with a stealthy/sneaky running animation I think.

I also see this being said by some1: Lineage II is being hyped.   o.0   Hyped = a game being pushed into your hands by the developers. As you will see on the Lineage II fansite forums, every1 is saying Lineage II is being promoted way to little. Ppl are very concerned about the marketing strategys of NCsoft in USA/Europe. The only way it can be hyped then is by players and gamesites. And I guess because Lineage II is in a kind of underdof position on the USA/Europe market where no1 knows much about it. Every1 has heard from Everquest or Warcraft  3 or Sony or Blizzard. Lineage 1 and NCsoft not. Youre average gamesite post news about EQ2/WoW when they release 2 new Screenshots, Lineage II is many times never mentioned. So how is it being hyped or even "over"-hyped.. Maybe on this forum ppl know the game but it is very unknown compared to WoW/EQ2.

I also hear ppl complaining about Threadmill Lvling = boring. Ok I have thought and read many on this subject. Ppl who played the Taiwan/Korean Open Beta of Lineage II say the lvling was boring. This is logical. Cuz a MMORPG is build around the whole MMO (=community) perspective. Without a community your playing a single player RPG, and every1 knows that MMORPGs played without others are worthless. Its way more fun to play a single-player RPG then, because of the storyline. MMORPGs replace storyline with Community where the ppl themselves make the story.        When playing Korean/Taiwan Open Beta of Lineage II it was similar to having no community, czu u couldnt understand eachother, this made Lvling boring cuz u couldnt do much with others besides that. Expect the NA Open Beta to be way different.

About the character custumization. True that there arent too many different looking faces/hairstyles, there are 18 different characters (dwarf/elf/orc/darkelf/human  and male/female and magician/fighter). Every female has 6 different hairstyles, 2 different haircolors and 2 different faces. Every male has 4 different hairstyles, 2 different haircolors and 2 different faces. So when you begin the game in the start town of your race, lets say the Elven Town, you might find some ppl looking the same as you. This is also enhanced by the fact that every1 is around the same lvl and using the same n00b armor. Dont worry. When you leave Elf town you will encounter many other races and when you see some1 of the same race the odds just became much smaller. Also every1 is of different lvls thus every1 is wearing different armor. Remember that the art/graphics in Lineage II are very good. An Orc with the same armor as an Elf will look very different! So the chance seeing an Male Elf Fighter with the same 4/2/2 face selection of around the same lvl thus having the same armor and also choose to use the same weapon (you can use many weaponstyles: Sword/Spear/Blunt/Fist/2handedsword/double sword/dagger)  is extremely small. Though it is true that you will encounter times that ppl will sort of look the same.       I myself dont care a lot about this. I played many MMORPGs and like Lineage 1 as one of the most. This game was 2D and every elf would look the same as an other elf. Never even bugged me 1 second. I dont need a character to look just like myself or MY idea of how it should look. I think NCsoft did a really great job on this. Giving high detail characters, thought not custumizable to the max just enough so it wouldnt get you lagging ina large siege where 100s/1000s of ppl are attending. Also In the future there might be more custumization like having your pledge emblem on your cloak.

Here you will see 5 of the 18 characters all looking different with the same armor (this picture is from http://l2.lineagecenter.com/  and you can see more armors in this post: http://www.lineagecenter.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=292)

Hmm I will post here some thought of ppl about Lineage II were I disagree on.

Controlls. Lineage II uses keyboard + mouse at the same time. Mouse is used to walk by clicking in a direction and is used to select targets as well as clicking ingame links. Though in battles you use keyboard cuz you can link all actions/skills/items (like potions)/etc to your keys (F1 to F10, and 10 rows =  100 shortcuts on ur keyboard). You can also use arrows to walk. This is a lil buggie at times but in towns it is very convenient, and when walking a large distance a 1 time click with ur mouse is more convenient. I never noticed the so called trouble using the mouse when I played the game, till ppl mentioned it.

Camera. The camera controll is I think very easy to use. It is on the right mouse button so you can always use it. You can zoom in very close that it almost looks like 1st person and you zoom out which gives a nice overview. You can rotate all the way round and now after the 2nd big patch (name Chronicle 1) your character fades away from a little fading till total disapearing when you get too close (here is a picture of a half-faded character: http://www.lineagecenter.com/l2newsimg/chronicle/chronicle11_7.jpg  from http://l2.lineagecenter.com/)

PvP. It is true that there isnt much skill needed in 1 vs 1. But I must say that this is a strange note on which many debate is going on. I think in a MMORPG skills in 1vs1 is something that cant exist.  It isnt CS where the one with the most skills wins over an equall equiped opponent. It is a MMORPG where some1 with better armor/weapon/lvl wins. Also what matters a big deal is against who ur fighting. An archer may win from a lvl higher lvl knight if the knight isnt having some skills which offer xtra resistance to arrows. Also group-mages arent very good in attacking. All these factors make 1vs1 still interesting and exiting cuz you wont know whos gonna win, though the battlescenario (attacking.healing.usingskill.little tactical move) might already be determined.

(I'll post more when Im up to it =P)

I would go with either Lineage II or World of Warcraft. Those are the 2 that I will be choosing between. I can't see Lineage II failing at all, but World of Warcraft on the other hand....::::21::

We'll have to wait and see what the future brings us

I recently read about this game.  It looks like something I would like to try, too.  I'm looking for more info about it, are there any good sites I may have missed?  I am tired of the same old things in a MMORPG, and from what little I have read, it seems Ryzom may have something different.

I am thinking between Lin II and Ryzom... Lin is coming out first so it got a bonus there. After recently bored and quit Anarchy Online I am looking for a MMORPG to fill my void... image and yes.. I am addicited to MMORPG.

The concern I have with Lin II so far is that I believe the game is competitive and require alot of time. I am talking about 7+ hrs everyday in the game in order to get the most out of the game. I know this is normal in Asian (don't ask me how the asian gamers squeeze that time out, I don't know but I have lots of friends that are doing it) I am just an average joe with an average IQ. I can barely get 2 hrs per day for MMORPG between my work, my CMA training (yes. I will be a boring accountant), my gf etc... I am jus worried that 2 hr is not going to be enough and I will ended up lacking behind my clanmates... This is the biggest Con for me for Lin2 right now. Another one is I am not sure what is the roll of tradeskiller in Lin2. I was an engi in AO and I like tradeskilling.

Lin2 is definately the best MMORPG in Asian market so far... and beats the crap out of the other asian MMORPGS for sure. Some of the MMORPGs in Asian market right now are below jokes...image

It really is good to do when ur playing 2hrs a day or something like that. Sure you wont be able to be as high lvl as some who plays 7hrs but 2 hrs really is good I think.  When i played the Korean Open Beta I had the idea that lvling was good to be done when playing around 2 hrs.  Also not every1 plays 7hrs in the USA/Europe, expect there to be a much lower lvling speed on the NA servers. Also when ur in a pledge/clan ur almost automaticly in one with around the same playstyle as you.

    Definately Lineage 2!

Blizzard is experienced with RTS (real-time strategy) games such as Warcraft and Starcraft, not MMOG's.  Closest thing was Diablo and I don't really consider that an RPG either.  I'll definately be taking the 'wait and see' approach before purchasing WoW.

L2 may be a level grind, but it sure beats having a maxed out uber character after a month and getting bored with the game.  UO, SWG, and EQ (as well as many other MMOG's) made it too easy to reach the highest levels/skills.
