Blizzard's anti cheat program isn't a rootkit. However I classify it as spyware, which is one reason why I don't play WoW, I don't like their intrusion into my PC in that way. However, on the plus side, people can't get away with speed hacking there like they do with impunity on SWG.
ive got a few friends in my guild who i know have used the speed hack, about 4 people to be exact, and only 1 got their account perma banned
In SWG, I've reported people for speed hacking (how else can a non Jedi outrun a force running Jedi?!) double profession exploiting (ie: a medic that cloaked), and for cooldown bypassing on cyber arms (being able to continually apply the effect). Action taken by the CSRs? None.
Players are better at spotting this stuff than any program is, because players know the game better than the people who make/run it. But it takes customer service that gives a shit for it to work.
ok youve solved the bugs/hackers problem, now what about the playing favorites part? the fact that players are the admins brings up this problem.
Admins who play favorites will find their community will vanish.

Gene is me.... ok honestly knowing hackers, and server runners/admins have access to our accounts is really disturbing ..... i mean imagine being in a PVP battle, and all of a sudden some guy comes up with a CDEF pistol and does 1000000 dmg to you? i mean is it really worth the time and effort to build up your character, to get him hacked or have other players being hacked?
Probably should edit your post before the Mods get online.

If your refering to yourself being put off playing on a EMU server when they eventually come up be it in 6 months to 18 months time, I think you've already have decided against it. That the posts you are making are just to get people who are waiting for the EMU server rattled so they respond to your posts in some way feeding your need for attention.
Also I doubt this will have an effect on people who have already decided on playing the EMU, if there ends up being 5 or 6 decent servers, word of mouth can play wonders and players will come. This is exactly why the NGE has such a small player base negative word of mouth advertising coupled with numerous negative press reports and bad reviews even though it was marketed quite heavily during the time of the 3rd film.
So basically when the EMU is at such an early stage, we can't really say anything until something more solid is there for people to experience and then make a judgement. We can however look at other games which have succesfully been run using emulators, such as UO, some WOW servers etc.

i was also excited about the SWGEMU, but when you hear that people u play with on the server can get onto your account and do what SOE did (on a much smaller scale) but to only yr char (as in destroy all yr stuff and /unlearn my skills) im a lil scared to hear this. but people need to know that their character is vulnerable to the server administrators and ect, and this will probably be a problem for maybe the first month, then after that and the last 5-6 servers are left it should be over with. Hell im even going to play SWGEMU on a friends server, hes got 100 of his guildies comin over to it, so it should turn out great.
And on the note of harry-sack preventing players from playin ... UHHHH do you really want to play with an asshat like him? but then again we did in PRE-CU and we even had some Running the game.

Any way yes of course your character is at the mercy of server admins, the same can be said that your character is at the mercy of the CSR's /SOE on the official servers, all it depends on is if the people that have been put in charge of the day to day running of servers arn't immature and use their heads when taking on the responsibilities.
Just relax, its still a fair way off yet and many things can happen between now and when its complete.

To associate with those that are dishonest and to call them 'friend' is to be as guilty as them. People like you and because people are prone to having favorites is why I won't play on EMU. Not to mention it is illegal, no matter how you slice it. People condemn SOE for unethical business practices, but I see the EMU as just as unethical as what SOE did, except what SOE did is legal.
All I have to say is that you all participating in EMU should be ashamed of yourselves, just like those who hack or know those that hack ought to be. You either spend your life doing what is right and defending it or you do what is wrong and say nothing about it. You choose which you fall under. Don't sink to the level you have been condemning all this time.
Go ahead and flame me now. I already know that you all will choose what is wrong over what is right. You're no better than SOE.

People will put up with it, considering they catch them in the act in the first place. If the Admin is the one cheating or playing favorites, who will you report it to, to have it investigated?

Its legal because of the some obscure statements in their EULA, TOS, or on the box, and the SWGEMU team have so far used exactly the same premise to produce something which SOE took away along with 2 1/2 years of subscriptions. So you can see clearly which are worse of the two; people who sell you one thing watch you pay for it while gladly taking your money, lie for 2 1/2 years making x amount of promises, then to turn around and go we don't care if you paid us for x amount of time we want new blood and we don't care. Or are the people who are makng the EMU who are doing it in their spare time, making zero profit to give something that x amount of people were conned out of, while using a similar legal loop hole.
They may be both ethically wrong but when it comes down to it I know which one I support.

SOE is evil, vile and corrupt. Even if they offered classic servers I would never go back. They can't be trusted.
Emulation project guys might have their heads in their butts (all their ego) but my only problem with these guys (besides being thieves) is that even if they do RE a server for pre-cu, there were lots of bugs and problems with pre-cu and I do not trust that they will work them out.
Remember don't expect too much from the pre-cu emulators, they haven't got a 40 man dev team etc, if your looking for a pre-cu with 0 bugs that will never happen, just like any MMO out there is not 100% big free but if your looking for a pre-cu game where you can live with some bugs but still enjoy what you did during SOE's go at it, then it may be worth taking a look.
They also arn't thieves they haven't stolen anything, the server code they made themselves but thats another kettle of fish which i won't go into.

You have a fair point about this. Honestly though in my nearly 3 years of playing the game that only happened twice, the CU and the NGE. I would fear that it would happen daily or weekly on an illegal emulation server. And I am not talking about immature server admins, I am just talking about problems that they do not have the experience to work out.

I find it really interesting that a couple of threads whose titles, at least, seem to indicate they are bashing the that-which-must-not-be-named, have been left up now for quite some time, even though they contain clickable links, whereas those that seem positive toward you-know-what, get deleted almost instantly.
I think the mods need to excercise some consistency here. If that-which-must-not-be-named is taboo for all the reasons they say (and I'm perfectly on board with that -- it's a legally questionable project at best), then it should be taboo period... not taboo when you say good things about it, but perfectly fine to talk about negatively.
WHY WONT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND, THE POST IS FOR WARNING......
WARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNINGWARNING WILL ROBINSON
I mean i look at the SWGE** site and forums and see threads getting deleted for no good reason, and i have found out that the admins can screw around with your characters, YES I KNOW SOE ADMINS COULD TO but even still they are part of a big organization, and i have never heard of SOE admins logging onto accounts deleting everything, but i mean like i said, i just found out today and thought i might tell everyone else, i mean if you alrdy knew THATS FINE, its for people who DID NOT know.

I asked some people in my Guild on Eclipse last night
"Will you play on an EMU server with me"
They said
"nah cause what if one day we log in and all the time we spent on a toon is gone and stuff deleted or worthless"
I replied and SOE have never done this to you already, and you spent money on the game?
They didnt have an answer.
They also arn't thieves they haven't stolen anything, the server code they made themselves but thats another kettle of fish which i won't go into.

No.
John Smedley beat up my grandmother.
