The wife and I love your videos!  I'm partial to the one where Darth Velveeta is running around trying to find something she can actually kill, finally pulling a blaster to shoot a chuba.  I shall miss these.

Ahh yes that one is OUTSTANDING with the Benny Hill flick -- that one was a guild favorite of ours as they all left.. IT is still my favorite and sums this all up quite well.

SOE, fucked this up so bad it is almost better to be seen as a humor video vs what it really is.

    Poor Alma!

I know they didn't touch MonCals, but my crafter's eyes look like a dead/cooked fish now.  I think they tweaked the reflections 'generally'.

My human and zabs look, well, I'll get used to them but.

Human guy was previously a sort of mediteranean tan, slim but not gaunt.  Now he looks like the mad Mullah and is way skinny.

The Zab? Well, he's pale white to start with and skinny. (There's a back story to that) Now he looks like a corpse. Scary white with yellow cheekbones showing thru. Ack!

Now, am going to incur the wrath of the Ents, but I think we need ONE free 'image respec' to let us adjust our toons to what we wanted them to look like. Any changes after that and we're back in the hands of the IDs.  I want to see what my guy looks like with a bit of meat back on his bones, and to dicker about with his skin tone till it's 'right'.  Basically I want to 'fix' him as he's not 'my' toon atm.

I am just glad I am not playing anymore to see what this would have done to the appearance of my character.  I agree with the criticisms.

This is definitely a bad idea.

As to the comment about the artists being subjected to hate.  Well they do work for SOE's SWG team.  In my view that taints them.

I have no problem with that, HOWEVER, I already TRIED to make Alma over.  She's a Master Entertainer and my Master ID skills could not change the fact that she is just FUGLY!

Shayde has it right. Trying to polish a turd, most likely so that they can slap on "NEW UPDATED STAR WARSY GRAPHIX" on their Complete Adventure packet bs.... I really hope that everyone that anything to do with the NGE gets hit by a bus and drug around America for a tour of teh country road burn style.

Out of all the player concerns for over the past 3 years

I dont ever remember graphx being in the top 100 or 200 concerns

Did graphx even register as a player issue?

I know it was never a issue to me or any of my friends.

Of course not thats why they changed it.

An art department is just that , They work on the art . Blaming them for not fixing code is like blaming a cop for not stopping a 4 alarm fire . If you don't like the textures , That is your opinion and you are entitled to it .

But I hope those of you crticizing the art atleast know something about form drawing  . In particular facial line drawing ,Which in this case IMO they are very well done . By adding more texture , It becomes more noticable to recognize aging lines and things of the sort . Which it would seem by most of those pictures  , The players really didn't take much time in customizing their look .

As far as Aunti's complaint , I think it is a bit of an exageration . One thing I noticed from your before and after is your eyes . They look out of puportion with the rest of your face . Turning your eye slider size down would possibly help . A face is roughly 5 eye lengths wide .In your case (by the size of your eyes) it is maybe 3 .

More and more like a console every day.  Yes...yes...at last their plans are coming together.  Too bad the PS3 is going to suck like every thing else SONY touches.

Just before I deleted my ID tonight I dragged my other toons in to try and get them back to looking halfway to what they were before.

The ID sliders are *not* functioning correctly with the new faces.  For example, the eye size slider stops making any noticable change around 40% of the way down. The eye shape cuts out about the same. I couldn't get rid of the startled rabbit baggy eye look.

Skin coloration is also a bit out. Far more red than before and underlying bones give a more yellow hue than is natural looking. Especially on pale skintones.

There is a VERY noticable dark patch on the septum of both male and female toons.  Corresponds with the vertical seam/ridge and is due to the way the underlying model was made (per the dev responsable for the artwork). It would have involved remaking the actual models to fix that, but am hoping they do manage to get shot of the little Hitler 'taches as they're just disturbing, especially on female Zabs.

I made a fresh toon on TC to see what the basic character creation was like now and the sliders were as above.

Which is a pity as people are going to head for an ID to get themselves remodelled and won't always understand that it's not the ID that is making them look that way but a limitation in the ID's toolset.

I don't give a rat's ass about art ... I'm not an artist.  I care about having my characters look halfway decent.  Changing the eye size does nothing -- tried it.  The skin is blotchy and discolored.  In fact, the entire palette is screwed as the colors don't REMOTELY match your selections now.  The skin tones are now very grayed down or so bright that you can't find a happy medium.

I also don't care if you think my eyes were out of proportion with my face.  This is STAR WARS ... which is SCI-FI.  TWI'LEKS do NOT EXIST.  How do YOU know what the proportion their eyes should be to their face?

I spent four hours when initially made Ashe -- my first character.  An ID has never touched her.  Some of us DO spend time adjusting our characters looks.  In some cases, my characters changed in looks over a series of weeks because I felt I couldn't get the right look for that particular personality.

I spent a good deal of time last night and today trying to get Alma to look like anything I would even take out in public.  I've changed her height, weight, skin tone, lekku design, cosmetics, eyes/nose size, all facial features -- and the bottom line is, I hate the way she looks.

I don't enjoy combat very much.  I really enjoyed my characters, the way they looked, creating a wardrobe for them, etc.  It was a big part of my gameplay.

The bottom line is, I won't play a character I can't stand to look at; facial line drawing notwithstanding.

If you ask me, those that cheer for THESE new textures, are people who couldnt give a rats ass about their look, as long as it's "NEW GFX! WOOT!"

So they screwed up the sliders ? That is no surprise . What about the aging function does the slider seem to not change the lines around the nose and mouth region ? also does it have an effect on your cheek bone structure or anything at all ?

In my statement I was only trying to help you solve your problem . There is no reason to get angry about it . And a twilek is a humanoid meaning the art behind them is based on a human esque approach. I was also pointing out that the eyes were not correctly in proportion with your face . That could be a Problem in regards to artistic mistakes it does not mean it is your fault .

My first few lines had nothing to do with you , It is my opinion someone who doesn't understand art . And the processes used to create it , should not criticize it .

I think the problem your trying to solve is your lack of Character.  So, get with the program, quit SWG and start complaining about NGE like everyone else.

I think the new "skins" all make the characters look like Darth Wedgie has visited them all and used the dark side of the force upon each and every one of them in a most peculiar way.

Well, as a IT Dir and being in this industry using artists as well as dabling in it, not to mention having some direct family in the gaming industry -- see Ravensoft --  I can safley tell you that you have 0 clue about time and project managment then.

If you think these people had nothing else to do then to fix the toons in the game then you have got to be more clueless then I had thought.   There is no way in Hell that this was needed OH SAY OVER fixing somthing else, adding somthing else, making somthing else or even planning ahead.   If you really think this was a much needed project then please do NOT ever get into game or program design or managment.

This is not about the ART itself, it's about the fact that someone wasted the time to do it at this point in the game to change it.   Of all the things to do, they could have made new looking cities, planets or areas... vs player models.    I do not nor did I see huge complaints about this, but I bet we all did see some needs for content...?

See this is where this is failing, managment.   This is the same crew that had 45 people show up for a summit meeting... Oh yeah, smokin!-- I mean with that kind of support they could have held it in the local wafflehouse.

I do wonder sometimes at what point, or what it will take for people to grab thier balls and see what is being done.   I know age is a large issue but still... I know most are in school and have a sense of bad managment.

Wow ... did he just age 30 years?  Hey, I'm messing around with this stuff (not right this minute) but have you seen an ID yet?  I haven't really looked at the male characters.  If you already have someone you're working with -- COOL!  If not, and would like to see if we can get him back to his youthful, studly self send me a PM.

So far I have not been able to get my existing twi'lek out of her bag lady mode ... so I won't bring her out.  However, it seems much easier when you're working with a new character.  The palette is still screwed though, I don't know what the hell they've done (I'm speaking of the palette for the twi skin coloring and cosmetics in particular).

I find I always have to have my personal light on or my character is too dark.  I've messed with my graphics settings but they don't seem to do much right now.  LOL I was hoping if I lessened the character detail she might look a little better.    No such luck!

    Sorry auntie...NO ID's but myself

Frogs on TC, so I took one of my old TC chars, my former hawt black dancer now artisan, and recreated RK-31...

The before and after are both taken today.

And trust me, I did try to...fix him... But uh...well, I would basicly have to restructure his whole face to even get something that could be considered "nice"...

And thats kinda moot, aint it? Since that would be like...loosing my character? Who's been mine for over 3 years?
