Well, looks like they (Helios) were talking out of their asses again.
Ok, fixed. To be fair, from the screenies I saw, it does look like they have improved the new characters a little, but like others pointed out, characters still look a little mean or angry.
The addition of true cleavage to the babes IS a plus.
I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever
As a game artist I can say that this is some of the shoddiest work I've seen go into a graphical update for a game. If I was the AD there's no way I'd let those in game. It's basically a shitty attempt to normal map without any real attention to anatomy and flesh colorations. Basically they overcompensate for the bad facial shading by using insanely saturated facial tones. It really looks like the intern did it...

You should get the newest release of InsideSWG, and look at the textures for yourself.
I logged in and saw very little difference. My human characters faces still look like they need a good scrubbing, and my twi'lek ... *sigh*. The changes were better with the pixel shader disabled when if you turn it on ... UGGGGHHHH.
It did look like the skin discoloration and blotchiness on the body had improved. I'm glad they're working on it and I'm glad they are, however, it looks like they have much to do.
Also, the zabrak female I created was ok. There were still bags under her eyes and the ears look like they were just stuck onto her head -- but out of my female characters she looks the best.
My test center characters are looking better (unless I'm just used to them).
The skin texture looks smoother, not sandpapery. The bags under the eyes are gone.
The legs and arms aren't so muscular looking, but look more normal. I do hope they're working on the character art because what there was, was butt ugly no matter what you did in Image Design.
I have a couple female toons and I tried replicating them on TC. They look a lot better now than they did before the last update. my Twi'lek looked like she was a crack addict, and my human looked like she'd aged 20 years and was now a 45 year old MILF lol.

What's wrong with that? My wife is turning 45 soon! lol
But I guess there are exceptions. Her face still looks 30ish with a 1 or 2 lines, lucky for us.
As an aside, the last few hundred vendors I tried creating before I left all sucked anyhow, and that was before the change. Was it just me, or did all vendors get hit with the fat & ugly stick after the CU?
And how much worse will vendors get with the new graphics?

lol people are so concerned over such things in real life, to which I can say with confidence: HEY Stop being so shallow!
But to have the same concern over your characters looks in a video game? Wow all new levels of shallow there eh?
Me personally I really don't see that much of a difference, and what little change I did notice, I liked.
Honestly if your biggest complaint is how much older your character looks now I think you have it pretty good as other players actually have REAL concerns and not petty BS.

I'm kinda glad he necro'd this, because I would have missed your post above and the opportunity to once again argue with you.
In high school I was 6'2" 180 lbs of chiseled manliness and adorably cute to boot. 21 years later, I am closing in on being twice the man I was. So I kinda liked being able to make a toon that looks like I wished I looked now. It was rather pleasing to me to be able to not worry about whether or not that outfit made me look fatter.
It has nothing to do with shallow. Good looking people DO receive benefits from their looks, so being good looking in a video game which is their "second life" is a nice break from their first for those who do not receive those benefits. If everybody in the game is good looking, at least that hurdle does not have to be surmounted.
Then SOE goes and takes that away too! Oh the humanity! Some people DO care about looks. Who are you or I to judge them for that? It's their choice.

I better get as much video done as I can.

It's a start I guess, still needs some work... and I hope
for the love of god that isn't the final push for this "improvement".
after spending all that time on tatooine.... I predict wrinkly leathery skin
