I didn't get mine today yet but it might be possible it comes later tonight. Did it come through UPS/Fedex/another service like that or through the USPS?...I think a lot of times the mailman around here doesn't like delivering packages so he'll put it off for a while, at least it seems that way any time I'm expecting a package to come.
Anyway, when I set up my account and everything could I join up with someone to get the hang of the game?...it's been a long, long time since I've played and I forget most about the game. If anyone wants to play together you can post your character/server here or leave me a PM. Thanks.
I created a WoodElf Warden on the Venekor RP-PvP server. Name is Tymora. Anyone interested in grouping up and going through some quests later on tonight, you can post here or send me a /tell in-game.
I just got a copy in the mail as well, but now I'm having some reservations. I just got sent a game, an expansion, and a 30 day gamecard in the mail and I didn't pay a dime. That's too good to be true, right? A few months down the line, I'm not going to be asked to send the game back and foot the bill for the game card or anything?
I'd like to hear from other people selected on what their experience has been like so far with the GSB client in conjuction with the game. Anything odd?
It does sound too good to be true, doesn't it? Playing my favorite mmorpg for free and being able to send my comments about what makes me enjoy it so much, and what I would like to see to make it even better.
I've been sending feedback through the GSB interface in-game. It is a great idea! It is kinda clunky, but it works out and its easy enough to use. It is a bit of a pain when I use it only because it puts EQ2 into Window mode, and so I have to goto options to set it back to FullScreen after I send feedback.
I've sent an E-mail to GSB asking some questions and they got right back to me with answers. So far, it all seems legit . . . but who really knows for sure. Perhaps this is something that will lead to improvements in mmorpgs? I'm willing to give it a try if there's a possibility for that.

Agree with pretty much everything Ty just said. The idea behind how you give feedback is interesting, but the way it's handled is kind of clunky. Not to mention there is a limit on how much you can say per feedback submission. Minor gripes mainly. The actual GSB client itself doesn't interfere with EQ2 at all from what I can see. (no shuddering, or crashes) I've sent in Feedback for each part of the game I've dealt with since getting it in mail. Installion, Patch times, etc etc.
All I can say is boy has EQ2 changed alot since I last played it. Alot of the mobs that use to be in certain spots aren't anymore. I really didn't feel like dealing with a pvp server so I rolled on AB. Sadly the newbie zones are very empty (Sunken City, Ruins, Sprawl). I've already begun looking for a Guild, because I dont want to be sitting around twindling my thumbs. When it comes time to begin the Armor Quest. Which is something i'll definately be feedbacking. I've never liked the fact that grouping is almost required for the AQ's. Makes it extremely tough to do the quest when the zones are for the most part empty (not saying they are).
Which is one of my biggest beefs with games that are too group oriented. It leaves players that join to late stranded, with nothing to do. Because even the earliest content is designed around forced group. *Hence why I may love FFXI, but I will never go back to it* Wow, I got really off topic lol.
Edit: I rolled a Female - Half Elf - Fury (Antonio Bayle SP?) named after one of my good friends sister. (Keyna) Currently level 15 about 6 blues from hitting level 16.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
Wow. When I first saw this, I thought "what the hell, I'll give it a try". So I signed up, and behold, after 10 mins of filling out stuff with some thought to it, it gave me an error, and everything is gone. So I just said "screw it" and didn't bother again. Although it's not like I really want to play EQ2, but I do sort of regret it now.

straight from the email of being accepted: In addition you get to keep the EverQuest®II Kingdom of Sky game, although you will be responsible for any ongoing monthly fees after the trial has ended. Plus, you will be eligible for future trials we’ll be running through Game Sandbox.
Yeah, that was a very nice surprise, and you don't even have to use that 30 card for the GSB testing. I E-mailed them about it and got a response that said "it can be used however we wished . . . play on!"
As far as I can tell, the trial/testing will go on for at least 30 days, but I am using the card to add another 30 days to my GSB account for EQ2, and as long as it remains open, I will continue to send feedback.
As far as future trials/tests, there is a poll on the GSB website. Vote on the mmo you'd like to test out next.

Wish I had known that before. I would have reactivated my own account lol. 27 Fury and 26 Brusier (Fury on Venekor and Bruiser Nagafen) After this testing is done I don't know I might go and reactivate that account. I like alot of the new stuff i'm seeing quest wise in Commonlands.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
I'm seeing lots of new stuff in my early levels so far that I like. I could have used the card to add onto my main account, but I decided to start over and send feedback from all aspects of the game from start to however far I get (the account creation, character creation, etc.)
Now I am getting used to playing a different class and I am enjoying it. Problem is, I will not keep two separate EQ2 accounts open, so I will have to choose between my main on AB, and this one I made for GSB on Venekor. I am foolish for creating a whole new account just to take advantage of the free 30 days that come with the game box!
i just made my 1st char hes a ranger on Venekor RP-PvP by the name chronocalamity server so ill see if i can cetch ya on tymora and u can help me out im a fast learner so i wont ask ya too many questions lol
I ended up making a Barbarian Monk on Crushbone. He's level 8 so far and I'm having a lot of fun with him. I will probably create a few alts on different servers so maybe I will see some of you in-game.
The newbie areas in Venekor have people running around in them, it is far from empty, which was nice to see. So if you are having trouble finding other players around your level, I recommend Venekor if you are up for a PvP server. Friends tell me that the community is almost as good as Antonia Bayle, and so far I've seen some nice, helpful players around.
I don't know much about how Game Sandbox brought us this great opportunity, but I suspect that they stand to gain something from all this.
I imagine that they are depending on some very good feedback from the testers. If we test well and submit quality feedback, they might do well, and we might get another change at it for a different game in the future.
I would like to know more about the underworkings of all this, but I am happy to be playing EQ2 for free.
MMORPG.com is benefiting from this somehow. I don't get why they are being secretive about it though.
They are listed as a partner, the only partner in fact, on Gamesandbox's website. They also wouldn't go out of their way to make a sticky just for an FYI post.
I find it odd also that the sticky doesn't allow responses? Were they expecting negative ones?
This also benefits SOE since they may gain subscriptions from it. Does this mean there is a tie between MMORPG.com and SOE to promote SOE's product via Gamesandbox?
I've been playing and sending feedback regularly, although I had all I can take in the Gank server. I am now playing my original main character on Antonia Bayle. It am still able to send feedback as long as I launch EQ2 through theGSB client, but I am paying for EQ2 again.
It's great to be back playing my main in the greatest server, with all my friends around. Fironia Vie's Champions of the Venekor server was the highlight of my short stay there. They are a good bunch. I left the server because I just couldn't get anything accomplished. I was killed repeatedly by a hidden rogue, usually deep orange to me, probably a good 5 levels above mine. When I got killed, I simply moved away from that zone to another one, only to be ganked again by some hidden Freep. The PvP on the server was not what I thought it would be. It's a race to gain titles through ganking lower level players.
If you're looking for organized PvP, with guild vs. guild or large groups battling it out, this is not the server, or perhaps the mmorpg for you. However, if you are a roleplayer and like a great PvE mmo that is both immersive and deep, EQ2 is a great choice. I'm excited to be back, playing often again, and hopefully my feedback will lead to positive things for the game. You can be sure that I sent plenty of it regarding the aweful PvP.
Windows® 2000/XP Processor – 1ghz equivalent or greater 512 MB RAM DirectX 9 compatible video card w/ pixel shader and vertex shader support. With at least 64MB of texture memory DirectSound compatible audio hardware 56k + Internet connection 16X Speed CD-ROM / DVD-ROM 6 Gigabytes Hard Drive Space DirectX 9.0c
these are the system requirements for this game, I am GUESSING that I cannot run this game on my computer due to my processor. (Mine is a PIII - 799mhz) I would just like to know if it would be possible for me to play this with all the setting low and such or if I shouldn't bother. I'm thinking no.
I sent feedback regarding the issue of EQ2 system requirements and adjusting the games settings for best gameplay performance. One of the few negative things I have sent, EQ2 just doesn't have the flexibility for many different types of systems to run it. The graphics are superb, but unfortunately, they require a very good system.
Hopefully in the future, mmorpgs will be made to look excellent, but will use advanced technology to be able to bring top notch graphics but at a relatively low system requirement. As it appears, your system may be a little bit low to fully enjoy EQ2, but I cannot say for sure.
