... there will never be one, all mmos are easy.. the only true mark of skill is how u can allow urself to play a game for long periods of time to gain an edge on players.. give me a break..
In EVE we'd call you a noob, or a carebear, or a noob carebear.

I would say I agreed, mmorpgs are generally easy. While I think this is part of the appeal of them perhaps, I do get annoyed when a mmorpg settles with target x press button kind of mechanism. I'd like to see some sort of aim, not a stupid fps aim in a mmorpg but a kind of natural mmorpg aim if that can exist.
That's why I prefer MMOGs. If I work hard, for a long time, I'll have a superior character to someone that just bought the game yesterday. That's entirely the point.
I enjoy the games where you actually have to control your character's aim like a FPS or a Space Sim with joystick support. As far as I know Eve doesn't have either of these... your skill isn't based on anything you do except pressing a button to attack and the aiming comes from a set of skills you already posess and some generated probabilities of a hit.

You are ignoring the amount of time it takes to gain an edge. Skilled players can do so quicker.
I agree most MMOGs currently on the market are weak, so vote with your wallet and don't support weak games. Are you currently subscribed to a MMOG?

MMORPG's are not meant to be based on player skill, hence why they are RPG's. They are meant to be based on the stats, character skills, and armor/weapons you have.
What you are looking for is a FPS game. FPS games require player skill, because you need to dodge if you don't want to get hit and aim if you want to shoot.
I enjoy both, but I know what to expect when I pick up a game. I don't pick up a MMORPG thinking that it will take player skill to defeat a monster.

MMORPG's could be based on skills. It's only a myth, to think that RPG's HAVE to use dices. In CRPG's, you could easily use twitch-based gameplay, which would req. skills. At least, i'd call Oblivion an RPG - Obviously not a point-and-click type of game.

Actually, I always fondly remember A Tale in the Desert as being a game where crafting was almost completely reliant on player skill, with very little character skill involved. That impressed me, in spite of the other flaws in that game.

Well, if the devs would think so one sided no wonder new games dont have any progress and are always the same. There should be no fixed rules how nowadays mmorpgs should look like or what content and gameplay. An mmorpg can have also parts of the FPS genre and there are tons ideas to combine that. The problem is probably that too many devs only hear to the mainstream and the old mmorpg ideas, for a golden future we need new devs and customers with an more open mind to find out new ideas. Just imagine you have an mmorpg with quests, character development but the combat depends on your own skills with the mouse and keyboard..that would be something new and would get new fresh air in the quiete old mmorpg world.

QFE...if you think MMO's are easy, go fly in aces high and have dirt kicked in your face while being laughed at...it took me months to get even decent at the game, years to get good. Same goes for WWIIOL. Infantry combat isn't your CS in that game.

i wouldnt play. i dont want to rely on my own hand eye coordination. i want to rely on my character's hand eye coordination. that is why i play, to roleplay a character, not to use my own habilities on a computer generated character. i want to be him/her, as much as i can. so even though i may need glasses on real life, a can be a very good archer on a game, just becuase my character has a hig perception and agility, not me.
and even though i am not very hard or strong, i can roleplay a heavy fighter, incredibly strong, able to use a big sword on hand hand a big shield on the other, even though i myself cant even help from cutting myself while using a knife.
and with magic it is even more ridiculous. what do you want? people dancing and shouting on their rooms to cast a spell? come on... its a roleplaying game. you play your character, not yourself.
this is the reason i loved Baldur's GAte games, and didnt play too much morrowind (even though it is a very good game)
