Nope... 2 years and above. Really fun game.
The Demo only lets you play one level in story and free-play mode. Lots of fun.

Actually it is fun, no joke and more Star Warsy then SWG -- all jokes aside.
AND that is the bad part about this.
SWG cannot give you the feeling this does... try it and see.

I disagree here, but only because I hold LEC primarily responsible for the CU, not SOE. There is no real dispute that pre-CU needed some adjustments, some content (new added and old fixed), and a lot of polishing. The tragedy is that it was already in the works. The Combat Revamp had been in progress for months, and likely would have launched around April'05 anyway. There were several Friday Features detailing CURB's changes (since purged from SOE's site). Then in Jan'05, it all took a left turn off the tracks. Talk of the CURB stopped, and the upcoming "CU" was mentioned. The CU was slapped together in 4-6 weeks, tops, then run past the CURB testers so fast that they just saw a blur, then kicked out to the Test Center in time for April Fools Day. Disaster.
LEC must have freaked after WoW launched with the numbers that SWG could never get. I've heard that they ran some focus groups in late '04. I figure that LEC chewed out SOE in Jan'05 for its failures, and said that SWG had to seriously increase subs. Said that more people would try it if it was more similar to other MMORPGs (especially WoW!), and since all those other games have these level thingies but SWG doesn't, change it! That had to be the single worst change in the CU, and endless posts in the forums said that they could swallow the rest, but not that. SOE's devs were listening in those days; the speed with which the weapon certifications got changed made that clear. SOE immediately knew how badly CU was being received. I can't see they sticking to it so stubbornly if they had any real choice in the matter.
The NGE I attribute to SOE. I figure it was a "Hail Mary" gamble to reverse the slide started by the CU. Some big change was needed, and LEC was probably still ruling pre-CU out-of-bounds.
