Why is everyone so obsessed with WoW. It doesnt make sense, what the difference between WoW and another3d mmorpg, and give me 3 good answers to that other than quests, monsters, classes, and races because thoseare different in virtually every mmorpg, except for the fact that some 3d mmorpgs other than WoW that are free vary from the normal and give you different races, 3 good reasons WoW is better than any other mmorpg.

2) because of chuck norris.
3) i heard you can save money on car insurance by switching to Geico.
WoW does suck for the price it is! I dont find it worth it at all i would rather go back to runescape!
Then you sir, need help.
Ok here's 3 reasons:
1) It IS good value.
2) A HUGE, fully explorable, varied environment with a variety of dungeons and creatures throughout.
3) Large Warcraft fan-base created a ready-made community, making it easy to find groups, guilds, and events.
Ok here's 3 reasons:
1) It IS good value.
Not really it costs same as when it was released.
2) A HUGE, fully explorable, varied environment with a variety of dungeons and creatures throughout. From what ive seen the enviroments are not varied and the dungeons are practically clones of eachother and the creatures are just copy and past
esize and change colour.
3) Large Warcraft fan-base created a ready-made community, making it easy to find groups, guilds, and events. This must be some sort of joke if by blocking 90% of the community makes this game playable and at least a little immersive then something is wrong.
Ok here's 3 reasons:
1) It IS good value.

He most likely did not mean cost. Value is usually meant to be "How long will this game last me" or "Is it worth the money?". Yes, it DOES cost the same as it was released, but that's obvious. YES, it is worth the money because of the vast amount of content. That's what he meant by value.
2) A HUGE, fully explorable, varied environment with a variety of dungeons and creatures throughout. From what ive seen the enviroments are not varied and the dungeons are practically clones of eachother and the creatures are just copy and past

Yes, SOME of the places/creatures do like similar, but that is not the case everywhere. All of the end-game instances (but you wouldn't know about those now would you?) differ from anything else seen in the game. They may hold some similar qualities as others, but they aren't clones like some of the lower level dungeons. And yes, some of the creatures are the same but with different names... in what game is this not the case? All that matters is from zone to zone, the creatures are generally different based on their location in the world and the lore surrounding it.
3) Large
Warcraft fan-base created a ready-made community, making it easy to find groups, guilds, and events. This must be some sort of joke if by blocking 90% of the community makes this game playable and at least a little immersive then something is wrong.
What do you mean, "blocking 90% of the community"? Or are you just some battle.net guy who can't afford to pay for the game? This game is VERY accesible even to newbies, and it is, like Drashan said, very easy to find groups, guilds, and events. Not only is there a Warcraft fan-base, but you'll find a lot of casual, non-gamers as well. This game is huge, both content wise and subscriber wise.
Because it works. I dont have to grab a can RAID everytime I log in game. I dont have to spend two days changing my computer everytime there is a new patch. I dont have to worry about having to fight the game everyday just to get it to work. I dont have to worry about CTDs ( crash to desktop) or CARs (crash and reboots) every 10 minutes in game.
Its just like all other MMOs but at least it freaking works right for me, 100% of the time. SWG, EQ2, L2, DAoC, etc all have issues. But I havent had a single problem with WoW. That isnt an exaggeration. I literally mean I havent had a single issue with this game. I have it on my desktop, notebook, and installed it on multiple other machines without a single byte of trouble.
Kai
2. the pvp grind it takes like 3 months of pvp to get highest rank so your timesink for gear will take forever there too
3. its cheap... imo 15 bucks a month is worth the 60+ hours a week i play
if you disagree with me your wrong because these are internet forums.
So my advice would be to start playing and enjoy the 1-60 life of the game until the expansion comes out.
3 good reasons why WOW is still better:
1) As much lack of content people claim the game has, it has more content than most mmorpgs out there. EQ2 probably has more, but the content is butt in comparison.
2) It's fun. The gameplay, questing, items, occupations are all fun and creative when leveling your character. The game really moves you into your character as you are building and progressing in the game. The low level pvp is pretty enjoyable too, It's a lot more fair in comparison with end-game pvp where you are fighting lifers that have every awesome armor set the game just added that week.
3) Playing with your friends. Isn't that what makes a mmorg great? The best advice would be for you to start playing with a friend who hasn't played before. You can solve quests together and compliment each other with your particular class and occupation.
1) It's fantasy.
2) It's well made.
3) it's populated.

Lots of other mmorpgs should work you just have to give them a try because free ones are better than P2P ones, except you have a job probably seeing as your 35, and can afford it. But still give other games a try, game hop like me.

These responses will probably ALL be subjective
1) Combat style - I like the combat style in WoW. I like the animations, the details of combat, everything about it. It feels right and it looks good.
2) Smooth gameplay - The game runs great on my system with all the eye-candy enabled. I play at 1280x1024 and the game looks and runs great.
3) Game Modifications - It's almost impossible for a game company to build an interface for EVERY player. Everyone likes different looks and functions from their game. Blizzard made it possible for you to severely change not only the look and feel of your game, but the functions of the UI entirely. Combine this with 1 and 2 and it's just amazing. With this feature, blizzard has also been responsible to limit functionality when they became aware it was being exploited and had time to fix it.
I applaud Blizzard for creating this game. I think they did a really nice job. It's certainly worth the price of admission as long as you understand what you're buying.
Just my 2¢.
so...

Ok tell ya what i won't even mention combat, diversity, end-game activities. animations and other stuff because pretty much every MMO has them and if i do list them it would be only my matter of taste (and over 6 million others compared to other mmo's which are struggling to try to get that 500k mark)
1) Content: World of warcraft is absolutely seeping with content and backstory, more than any MMO ever i believe, most cry out against WOW saying it has a lack of content. I for one have never seen any mmo with more. Provided you actualy read into it. And i mean read into it because theres books out there about the universe of WOW thats right books!! The only MMO that comes to mind that has as much an in-depth backstory would be SWG (just so were clear DO NOT PLAY SWG , NGE RUINED IT!!!) and even Lucas stated that only the movies are really cannon so can't play around with the story much. WOW has a heap of games behind it telling the whole story. When the NPC's talk about the old orcs versus humans wars i remember helping each side win on my playstation one. When i think about the burning crusade coming back i think "oh shit" because i remember facing them on my P.C. Go onto WOW's website and you can read some of the story, they've told some of the story of the Blood elfs and Draenei (the two new races about to be published with the expansion)
Oh and just a note when there talking about how during the Burning Crusade the bood elfs were mistreadted by the Alliance remember playing that from the blood elf perpective (and boy did i hate that Dwarf )
2) Blizzard: yup thats right Blizzard, i'm a huge fan to be honest. There a very good and respectable company that have made great games. They've got a spotless record by not screwing over its customer base at all (True most MMO's have but still) when you compare that to the dangers of other games. When i do something in an MMO i need to know its aways gonna be there. Otherwise i haven't left any mark of myself and thats what i'm in a MMO to do!! I trust Blizzard most for this. There staff are the nicest in any MMO i've ever played. You look at photos of other developers for other games workpace and its all bland and pretty much like work. You look at WOW's and theres cutouts of the developers favorite characters in there and those giant air hammers for a bit of banter. Some will say "well they should be working whine whine whine" i like the fact that they know Its a game lets make it fun for all and create a good atmosphere. I remember on april fools day the blizzard devs actualy played a joke on everyone stating a terrible race that was one of the two for the burning crusade. A good work atmosphere doubles the workers productivity and that leads onto my next point...
3) OMG everything works!!: WOW is almost a bug free game its unbeliveable, most bugs are crushed easily within a few days and there customer support is top notch (not the best but top notch and nobody is gonna beat saga of ryzom for customer support) my moves.....work. All the quests ......work. Everything....works. like the last point. Blizzard won't release anything to you unless there sure it works now thats a company i want to give my money to. In pvp every profession excels at something different and can bring somehting new to the table. I'm a warrior fighting a warrior doing my stratagie, if a hunter should come aone (another brute fighting class) or a paladin if i don't change my stratagie and react to new changes your dead - not only this but because you had a role to play in the group its most likely gonna go down) Many companys reease something and go "wait isn't X better than this in every-way" or "won't Y totally dominate or unbalance" and the response (although not public) is "the payers wil handle it" I DON'T WANT TO PLAY CLEANUP for a bad move on their part and compared to other MMO's i've rarely had to in WOW (we all slip up)
Well i think i made my/a point I could also tak about how i like how everthing i listed in my first paragraph is inplimented lol.
So in short Yes i am obsessed with World of warcraft....And liek many other for good reasons unike many other obsessions (including some unmentioned MMO's)
In shorter All hail world of warcraft
In Shortest WOW FTW

um, how are those three reasons that wow is BETTER than any other MMORPG?
1 and 2 can apply to a lot of games. 3, yeah um, look at all the games not out yet and all the people clamoring to get into the betas. but for warcraft? if you're not already part of an uber raiding guild... good luck hommes.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

You asked for 3 reasons why WoW is better then any other MMO. You didnt specify or lay down ground rules except races quests and so on. But now you are? Because you cant argue against them? What happens when someone else gives you 3 reasons you cant argue against? Going to add more stipulations? Your original post you asked for stuff not pertaining to quests, races, etc. Those are content. So you didnt want reasons about content. Now you want it only?
Something tells me no matter what is said you wont be open to it and just keeping adding on more and more stipulations. Might as well title this thread what it truly is "Give me Three good reasons WoW is better then any other MMORPG without saying anything good about WoW at all because I cant accept it."
