Those three reasons are actually pretty well put. And it was what you asked for, three reasons why people played WoW. It is simply silly then trying to argue with them afterwards as they have just told you why it works for THEM.

If you ask for an oppinion you should have the common courtesy of respecting their oppinion. It might not (propably won't) work for you but that's totally irrelevant as you are totally 100% non-consequential for their ability to form a personal oppinion.

Actually I thought that Number 3 was brilliant. WoW has that going for it, it is ALWAYS populated, you can play at any time around the clock and you will find other people playing, not just 200 or 500, but thousands. And that's a self-sustaining situation WoW has achieved there, they have become the point of reference in the public view of MMORPGs, which means that a lot of gamers will simply play WoW and never look for another game because in their view, WoW is the game there is available. End of story.

And since Blizzard succeeded in the oldest discipline ever when providing service to other people (and online gaming is more of a service than a physical commodity) they won. Everybody else failed in the simple task of making the product instantly accessible (game is so easy to start and learn that kids don't have to ask their parents), attainable (you can buy WoW everywhere, including gas stations) and appealing (did you know that more girls in Europe are playing WoW than are playing The Sims? That's quite an accomplishment and means that even though WoW might not be the Holy Grail of computer games it is the only contender for the title at present).

Personally I stopped playing WoW. But I don't matter because my oppinion means nothing when it somes to WoW. WoW already won and so did everybody else who wants new MMORPGs to come out. WoW made it mainstream and when things go mainstream, it means more money are getting funnelled into the business. I win, we win, all hail WoW.

And the reason Im asking you and not putting an opinion of what I thought of the game, is because I havent played it, so nobody can insult my opinion seeing as I didnt really give one other than dont obsess over World of Warcraft.
Go play any quality pay to play MMORPG ( WoW or any other) and then come back here saying those free games are great.

You can say that again. I've played all the 'free' MMOs, which aren't really free except for Guild Wars, as you can't truly compete unless you buy items from their inevitable Item Stores, and not one of them except Guild Wars comes close to the quality of WoW. Instead of asking a bunch of people to think for you, why don't you just try the game and not judge it before you start?

It doesnt make sense, what the difference between WoW and another3d mmorpg, and give me 3 good answers to that other than quests, monsters, classes, and races because thoseare different in virtually every mmorpg, except for the fact that some 3d mmorpgs other than WoW that are free vary from the normal and give you different races, 3 good reasons WoW is better than any other mmorpg.
    Please define "better"?

Then I could give you 3 valid reasons.

    1. Fun, more so that in any other MMO i've played (personal opinion).

    2. Very polished gameplay, more so than most (EQ2 caught up on this point after 2 years).

    3. Raid encounters are very well designed. Special mention for C'thun, Ouro and 4 horsemen.

Only tried 15 day trial of Eve so can't really give fair comparison to that game.

WoW is the first MMO i've played, so much of my comparative knowledge of other MMOs comes from other players and sites like this one.  Based on that, and assuming this isn't a troll post: here's my reasons.

    1)  It works:  barring the godawful Tuesday morning maintenance and patch days (why Bitorrent, WHYYYY?!), the game is stable and runs on a wide variety of machines.  I keep reading about MMOs that have technical requirements or problems that far outstrip the odd hiccup from WoW.

    2)  Its concept is accessible:  Fantasy is a genre people understand well because it is based on things that were, not on things that could be.  So it's easier for people to get into the concept of their avatar/character.

Moreover, it's based on the old HP/Mana system that was in place since the old console RPGs.  It's a simple standard that has been used by many other games, and people get it.

    3)  It is seamless:  The various elements of sound, mechanics and visuals hold together well in WoW - while it does have serious problems, no one element in the game sticks out like a broken thumb.   That part usually comes once you start hitting the endgame instances/quests.

Granted, these reasons only serve to highlight its shortcomings all the more.  I left the game out of frustration because I kept thinking, "man, if only they could fix X, Y or Z, it would be sooooo much better".  But honestly, I can't think of a better time playing an MMO than WoW for the first 30 levels.
